  1. For now, and for your budget, your buy-list is fine. Although it would be nice if you could split the generalist upgrade deck with someone.

And I would also say for a budget buy list, blessed and ice dancers fall in similar roles, so that if it was my list, I'd ditch the blessed and the rulebook (its a couple of stories, I think....4?) and use that money to get another madter's box for flexibility.

On ironsides vs mei. I have them both and like them both. But i play mei much more often. Instead of captain, i often run angelica. And i only run mages with toni, though they are cool to buff you henchmen

As you mentioned tt. Mei is a sweet trap to start tt, and i will give in someday :-D.

When playing mei i often use:

willie, emissary, union miner (a single one), large arachnid (similar role as rail worker), angelica, raptors, sparks

  2. @BFOmega: I wouldn't be surprised, though I'd recommend them as.very valid choices nontheless.

@Op: I'd say Ramos compliments Raspy better. I like Toni too, but for a close combat master that can support her crew, I am a fan of Mei Feng. So most of the time, I chose between Ramos.and her. I really.should bring out poor Toni more.often, as I think she gets a lot of bad rep undeservedly.

Anyway, my buy list for Raspy would be: Snowstorm, Ice Dancers, Arcane Emissary (you want him for Toni, and I find him also solid for Ramos), Blessed.

Then.if Ramos:  Toolkit, an additional arachnid swarm. Eventually Mech.Rider, large arachnids are also really nice.

If Toni: Amina o.ce she comes out, Willie.

General buys, that are generally worthwhile: Effigy, angelica, raptors l, johan.

  3. Same thing with other actions across factions; for example the Neverborn upgrade 'Malifaux Provides' lets you discard a scheme marker to heal two; even if your not damaged, you can still discard the marker.

On Amina, I'm really excited to get her. Also, the new book will probably bring a new style for Toni. She might even go from underdog to the new hotness.

  4. 0If you want to include the Emissary into the crew (which is a nice way to give an additional AP to Langston, for example), you can combo him with a Large Arachnid.

    1. Activate Toolkit, optional: Give plus armour to Emissary. Move up to 10’’(less might be adviseable).

    2. Activate Arachnid. Double walk next to Toolkit (or within 2")

--> you could charge, but because of armour, that might eat cards unneccessarily)

    3. Activate Emissary. Toss a card for extra AP for Arachnid later. Magnetize to Toolkit. Walk. Do whatever with 2. AP (scheme marker). Use extra AP on Arachnid to kill Toolkit for 2 scrap.

You could try to save a step by charging the toolkit with the arachnit and possibly killing it (might need cheating, but you'd toss a card with the emissary anyways), and use the emissary as backup in case the charge does not kill the toolkit.(Toss card, walk, walk, use ap with arachnid).

but in the order written above, you can.squeeze an extra ap out of the emissary since you  magnetize. Lets you drop a sheme marker for strategy or the arachnid to eat later.

  5. Some updates at last.

Went to my first tournament - and lost. Not always by as much as I would have thought, though. Painted the Emissary for said tournament, but never actually used it in the end.

Then, some better fotos of the Ice Dancer. Nothing fancy.

Finally bought the M&SU box. Ramos' sculpt is a little bit boring so I put Howard's tentacle-thingies on him. The backpack is a 40k spare bit (binoculars Imperial Guard). The conversion has already been done by others, so curtsey to whoever got the idea first. Ads much more character. I placed the bottom tentacles in a way that they mimic Ramos arm movements, as if he was controlling them.

Howard got another 40k spare bit (flame thrower tank). Need to attach the cables.

And here's some random miniatures form the ever-growing 'I'm going to finish that'-collection:

And some random shot from the cabinet. Warmachine.

  6. Finally gotten around to taking some (too bright) photos. Angelica is still WIP. Couldn't concentrate on painting fine details when I got some sparse painting time at night.

Here's the finished Dreamer Crew (except Chompies loin-chains). The rest of the Nightmare models is either in Lynch's or Pandora's crew. Though they share the same bases, so nothing is fixed.

    20170617_131346.jpg

Here's the Bandersnatch. I tried for kind of an OSL effect, but it came out pretty ragged. Something I want to improve in the future.

    20170617_131149.jpg

I really enjoyed painting the Waldgeists. First, they were pretty easy and quick to paint and then they were something else form and colour-wise. I got to try out brown-mixtures. They are part of my Lilith crew (and possible Zoraida/Titania should I ever expand into them).

    20170617_131500.jpg

I've redone the bases on my Lilith crew just so that the forest bases of the Waldgeist would fit :P. Still wanted the minis to fit to my other Neverborn, so I decided for a mix between cobblestone and forest. Here's an example:

    20170617_131557.jpg

Then to finish my Mei Feng crew, here is a Miner and a Gunsmith.

    20170617_131659.jpg

And an Ice Dancer. Experimented with a different skin tone and I like the result. It doesn't really show in the bright photo, I'll have to take another one.

  7. Well, it has been a while. Did some painting, but haven't taken decent pictures yet.

But I recently bought the Mysterious Emissary and finally was able to do what I was planning for a long time - make extra alternative Changlings for my games.

To tell the truth, I am not really exhilerated with the model. Its main drawback is that it is visually too tightly connected to specific masters (Zoraida and Titania). It just doesn't look as it belongs in a Collodi or Pandora crew in my view. It also feels uninspired. I mean, Neverborn have a such a vast lore to draw inspiration of. There could have been much more creative solutions – instead we got a walking tree. While the quality is really goot – even the vines got texture – it just isn't the model it could have been for me.

The base however is pretty cool. I like the idea of the Changelings 'hatching' from the plants. It is well executed and a very fluffy realization of the abilities on the Emissary's card.

The only problem is that parts of one of them is included in the base, which means you have to cut through the sculpted base. That base is much harder to cut than I expected, so you need a sharp knife and nee to very cautious not to cut yourself. One of the hands is awfully close to the Emissaries foot and therefore suffered during the cutting process. But it's so tiny and once the model is based it is hardly noticable that the fingers are missing.

    IMG_20170613_212655.jpg

The bottom of the base-bit needs to be filed to evenly fit onto a base. The rest is really easy, glue the parts together, fit them on spare 30mm bases, ad sand, flock or whatever to integrate the sculpted base-bit into the base itself. Done.

    IMG_20170613_214846.jpg

I like the idea that when you spawn (well, summon) the Changelings with the Emissary, they are still visually connected to him/it.

  8. But somebody (I forgot who) gave the tip that you can have a Doppelgaenger with Ret.Eye copying Nekimas ML. A hoop to jump through but a powerful effect. When already in CC and with a tome for the trigger, you get 3 attacks, too.

Other than that, necroon has said it all.

  9. I'm not a fan of either model. But having to decide between those two, I'd go for Kade as well. Not because of synergy (well, Box Pandora and Candy are there to trap models in close combat, and Kade can then charge in) but because he can carry the Depression upgrade (I wouldn't take it on Candy) to get his sweepbread trigger more reliably and also to give your Sorrows a ranged attack. Then, you don't have condition removal. This will hurt Lelu and Lilitu alot.

But for a list with so many Sorrows I'd actually take Iggy (a second Martyr + Misery). If you wanted, you could channel off damage from the Sorrows through Pandora to Iggy (who then could be healed by Candy, theoretically).

  10. Some progress. Angelica is still WIP, but I'm getting there.

Then there are some models I've been painting inbetween, an Oathpourer from Darkage and a Wolfen from Confrontation (please let Confrontation Resurrection happen!).

Then, here are some Neverborn, some of which I finished a while ago, some are still WIP (really should have filled-in those gaps on Chompy). I'm still working on the bases - my old nemesis. I got soooo bored painting copplestone.

    20170430_105332.jpg  20170430_105340.jpg

And a groupshot of my current Arcanists collection painted. Rest is still on the workbench, but I'm closing in on having all of them painted. (Until the new batch arrives ;P) The Large Arachnids and Soulstone Miners are very quick paintjobs, mostly just slopping on metal colours and some washes. I tried out oil washes, works like a charm.

  11. I'd go for Dreamer, as he offers playstyles Lynch doesn't have and also enables you to do different schemes much better than Lynch. Also, he is very versatile - summoner, crew support, 'beater'. You already have Teddy, he is solid with Dreamer, as he and his crew do much to support Teddy and not let him die so quickly. You can proxy a BEckoner for Lilitu (or put a whiip in one arm) - depends on what you tournament organisers allow.

You don't really need Gupps when you have Tots with Lynch. Also, you really don't need the Spawn Mother....and they have to be bought together.

I'd get Dreamer, a box of Insidious Madnesses and Stitched, depending on budget. (In the end, Zoraida will be more expensive, as you would go for Wisps, Waldgeists, MacTavish etc.)

  12. Lynch box (40)

    Lilith box (50)

    Dreamer box (50)

    Doppelganger (11)

    Primordial Magic (11)

    Nekima (25)

    Insidious Madnesses (21)

    Waldgeist (21)

    Mr Graves (11)

    Stitched Togehter (21)

    Lelu & Lelitu (18)

    $279

maybe Depleted, maybe Teddy (for Dreamer only, otherwise I'd just take Nekima)

Lilith and Lynch both are killy, but differently. Pandora is very nice, but a lot of models in her box are rarely, if ever, used. For different playstyles, she would actually have been a good pick. Dreamer is in there because you will have a summoner and several of his Nightmares can be used effectively in other crews. Collody 'requires' quite some models you would never play in another Neverborn crew. Lilith has got Terror Tots for Lynch.

  13. Hi,

If I use Perfect Copy to choose the Surprise! ability of a Changeling, could I use (0) The Voice In Your Head as the attack generated by the push/move and also perform another TVIYH attack during the Emissaries general activation? So, basically, generate 2 TVIYH attacks from the Emissary in a single turn?

The Surprise! ability reads: ...within the range of an Attack Action this model may take...

TVIYH is an attack action the Emissary can take, however, does the rule for (0) action interact with the Surprise! ability?

  14. You can take the Brutal for Healing and take a different Effigy for another job, i.e. Shadow for the marker drop (then again, you have Collodi, that shouldnt be a problem). Effigies are solid 4SS minions, I'm not sure...actually, I'd take the Arcane instead.

The Emissary is not much of a beater, he's OK. You could go for a Doppelgänger 1000Faces. You can swap that for Retribution's Eye if you see a Peacekeeper.

Well, I'd use something like this:

    50 SS Neverborn Crew

    Collodi + 7 Pool

     - Bag of Props (1)

     - On Wings Of Darkness (1)

    Marionette (3)

    Marionette (3)

    Marionette (3)

    Marionette (3)

    Waldgeist (6)

    Arcane Effigy (4)

    Brutal Effigy (4)

    Mysterious Emissary (10)

    - Conflux of Music (0)

    Doppelganger (7)

    - 1000 Faces (1)

Maybe even exchange the Waldgeist with an Illuminated (-1 stone for Collodi)
