  1. I hope they will not simplify it too much, I think the game is in a really healthy state right now and would be sad to see it ruined.

Rather than an overhaul of the rules I hope they would streamline some things. Have strategy markers function the same, have slam and assist be the same range. Stuff like that.

A couple of things I would like to see changed rulewise though.

Cheap minions focused on fighting very rarely work. Usually you prefer 1 big one over 2 small.

Less masters that fiddle around with themselves for the entire first round. That is not fun for either player and some masters can be quite terrible with it.

  2. Mei Feng: Mei Feng, Kang, Forgeling, 3 Rail Workers -> Explosive Material, Heavy Metal and Bayou Engineering are honestly all good to get. I would recommend that order.

Mah Tucket: Mah Tucket, The Little Lass, Trixiebelle, 3 Bayou Bushwackers -> I would get Rooster Riders and Wierd Science

Lord Cooper: Lord Cooper, Model 9, Artemis, Ullr, 3 Runaways -> I would personally get the Malisaurus Rex, it is good with Cooper 1 and a must if they ever get Cooper 2. Second pick would probably be the ES starter box. Bellhop Porter is also really good with Cooper, but sadly comes with 2 less needed models.

Lady Justice: Lady Justice, The Judge, Scales of Justice, 3 Death Marshals -> I actually don't know too much about Lady J, but I think I would get Six Feet Under mostly for the Lone Marshall. Pale Rider and Guild Steward could also be decent pickups.

Nekima: Nekima, Blood Hunter, 2 Mature Nephilim, 2 Young Nephilim -> Blood Ritual for sure and then Corrupted Hounds are also very solid after they recently got buffed.

Viktorias: 2 Viktoria Chambers, Vanessa Chambers, 3 Ronin -> Not too knowledgable about Vics, but I feel like Loyalty to Coin is a solid box to get and Hodgepodge Fate can also be good in the right situation.

Seamus: Seamus, Copycat Killer, Madame Sybelle, 3 Rotten Belles -> I would definitely get High Society and I am actually not too sure what else to suggest. Hats off comes with White Rabbit Co. that can be really good, but it is an expensive box to get for 1 model and 1 alternative master.

Misaki: Misaki, Shang, Ototo, 3 Torakage -> I would probably get Silent Strike and Karmic Debt

  3. A quick question after last nights game. What exactly is considered an action for Black Blood? I had Harata Ngaatoro with his aura up that says that when an enemy fails an opposed duel with 3 or more they suffer one damage.

Is this considered an action since the aura originally came from an action, or is it now considered just an aura and won't trigger Black Blood?

  4. A bit late to the discussion, but I will say that Titanita 1 is actually really strong, you just need to hire her with a lot of solid versatiles instead of her mostly average/below average keyword.

And yes, Killjoy badly needs some love. I agree with Maniacal that giving out keywords is probably not the way to go, but something should definitely be done with him as I wouldn't be surprised if he was in contention for worst model in the game.

I honestly think the price point is very appropriate and affordable. I'm not coming in as an apologist, and I'm not affiliated with the company in any way. Let's take, for example, Reva. If I decide I want to play the Revenant keyword, it would cost me $129 at the current prices to get every model in that keyword. That gives me way more models than I would ever need to play, adding some variety to the crews I can field. Let's further say that I want more variety than this gives me. In the same token, I could further buy every Resurrectionist versatile kit, five more boxes, for $200 at current prices. $329 gives me a ton of models that are fun to paint, and way more than I will ever need.

Now let's take the example a little further. I decide I just don't like the Revenant keyword. The versatile models are still useful for any Resurrectionist crew I field. I could buy every box in the Redchapel keyword for $102.50, and still have access to all of the versatile models, as well as the mourners from the Reva purchase, to build the crew that I want.

I guarantee you that the other company mentioned in this thread will never have a price point that would allow you to field two complete, tournament-ready armies for less than $450. The last time that was possible was in 1986.

I really don't feel like you can compare having a playable amount of models vs a playable amount of models in other games. Malifaux is a skirmish type game so obviously it is going to be a lot cheaper than other games where you need 10-20 times the models at least. Start comparing model vs model cost and I think you will find Malifaux is no longer cheap.

And I also don't agree that one full keyword and one full set of versatiles is more models than you will ever need, but that is irrelevant I guess.

  6. I feel like the most feasible solution would be for them to offer the enforcers as a single purchase on their website and/or as special orders.

I do agree that the current model comes off as greed. I completely love Malifaux like no other game out there, but I do feel like the current prices and bundles are starting to get offensive and I am starting to struggle to introduce this game to new players in good conscience. The Pandora/Colette title box costs 50 dollars for 3 human sized models....

Yea, it was absolute too strong before – at least until Malifaux got mad :D – but no one says, it needs to be like it was.

You might eliminate the optional choice, so it was less optimised and still reliant on Stitched, or it could be a minion-wide arcane reservoir, it could even be something completely unrelated to card draw but with a crew synergy, like a 6" Stat5 Wp attack to give Distracted+X, or.. or.. or.. anything but "Take cards from shelf A to shelf B, then return cards from shelf B to shelf A, rinse and repeat.".

I feel like it is not quite as bad as you make it out to be. It is more.

Take a bunch of crap from Shelf A and put it to shelf B. Then after one whole round with less crap on your shelf, but half of the crap back.

It’s less a balance issue with Dreamer and more that his entire crew is centered around having a useless mechanic. You’re basically wasting time doing LD for little effect.

To be fair, it was also way too strong before, and the cards go into your discard, so you still won't see them for the next round.

I don't know, I still prefer this version of dreamer.

I’m less concerned about the overtuned stuff and more about the weak keywords - although VS and Perdita could use a light tickle with a nerf bat.

Dreamer1 hasn’t recovered from his past nerf. The idea that LD now only works to set up Stitched with severes is just… less than satisfying.

Seamus1 still couldn’t care less about his Keyword, I’m down to fielding Bete, the rest is out, and although his title makes better use of them, playing a bubble doesn’t feel like Seamus.

Somer - where’d he go? It was the best place for Barbecue in the Bayou, and he’s just gone. Make the Bayou Greasy Again!

    -

Of course these new masters with their fancy chain effects is an abomination that should be dealt with, but some of the most iconic masters are not getting fielded, not because they’re bad Per se, but due to their mechanics simply not working.

I agree with those except Dreamer1. Summoning insidious madnesses is still rough for a lot of crews to handle and Nightmare as a whole is a very solid keyword. Not to mention Chompy

  10. Despite what a lot of people might say, I feel like most of the nerfs were very well deserved.

It is hard to look at a nerfed master without comparing them to their previous state. Especially when their nerfs seem quite dramatic like for example Nexus 2. But looking at them as an entirely new master I do feel like most of them are still very interesting.

I actually feel like the game without Madness is the best balance we have ever seen in Malifaux.

For me it'd be Perdita and Von schill. Those were the two that caused problems for balancing Balancefaux and led to banning all the MB versatiles to weaken those crews xD

Yeah I have heard a lot about Yannic + Von Schill. I actually haven't played against it myself yet. On paper it seems strong, but a lot more fair than some of the things we had running around pre nerf.

Is it the guild mage that  causes issues with Perdita?

  12. If we overlook Madness of Malifaux that has a ton of overtuned content, I feel like the game currently is at an extremely healthy place, where a lot of different masters have game and the meta can be very versatile.

That said, what keywords do you currently feel are the strongest in the game? I personally have a very hard time answering this, when you can't point to some of the obvious Madness keywords.

  13. Welcome back. I feel like ES right now is extremely well balanced internally, so pretty much every keyword has game.

That said, I personally think that Wastrel, Syndicate and Cadmus are more aimed towards specific pools. EVS, Dua, Seeker, Apex and Frontier I feel I could make work on most pools, although Apex and Frontier I will strongly consider the terrain and deployment type before picking.

The ones I would say require the least synergy to make work would be Frontier and Syndicate.

But remember to focus on what you like the look and theme of : )

I still think they're decent and worth giving a try. You will have alot of actions to achieve your goals and the nerf did not touch botanists who are really excellent 6ss minions. Worth noting that cadmus have access to some great models and you don't *have* to rely on botanists- spelleaters are great and i think cavatica is a decent tech pick with nexkids.

Maybe look at something like the below to start with. The nightsilk Creeper will drop 2 Web markers first activation, ready for you to grow the botanists.

New One Of Many Crew (Explorer's Society)
    Size: 50 - Pool: 6
    Leader:
      Nexus One of Many
    Totem(s):
      Nexus One of Many 2
      Nexus One of Many 3
    Hires:
      Eyes and Ears
      Archivist
      Dr. Meredith Stanley
      Nightsilk Creeper
      Botanist
      Botanist 2
      Botanist 3
    References:
      Berserker Husk

I agree, I think they are definitely still playable. The nerf seems completely wild when you look at it, but you just need to remember how completely over the top they were before. If you try to forget how they were printed previously and only look at their cards as they are now they still seem very interesting. I am curious what you like about Cavatica though? I have only tried him briefly, but was left very unimpressed.

I think you're probably going to be using the stitched in combat mostly. So while they are worse for strategies, if you're spamming Gamble Your Life it isn't much of a loss.

You would think that, but for guard and covert it is very easy to run out of eligible models, so every model counts and in cursed it is also a pretty big negative that they come in with a cursed token. This is without even mentioning the one strategy where they can't ever interact with the strategy markers.

So I definitely think it is a loss worth considering

take widow, 2 dolls, kill 1 doll with bonus, other with atacks, summon 2 stiched

    look at cards

    she is super good

i would say she is broken

dont get why kandara only look at 1 card and cannt discard it but lady look at 2 cards and can discard some

also i would say that dreamer1 was not nerfed at all

still same amount of resourses, summons

Interesting, but you think it is better than just hiring the stitched to behind with ? You need some high cards for the summons on top of the one Dreamer requires. If you have to stone for the suit for Widow you also "only" gain 2 stones in contrast to hiring Stitched.

All strats now also care if a model is summoned, so a summoned Stitched is not as good as a hired Stitched.

Don't get me wrong, I like the thinking, I am just theorycrafting a bit.

    Possibly.

Normally wyrd erratas 20-30 models and now only did about 10, so some adjusting was required xD

    Ahh I see.

It was just my thought that it would need to be a concrete rule that "models are banned till they have been trough an errata". If something gets added to the list because it is problematic, then we might as well just make a banlist instead.
