You've gotten me to thoroughly check out Nellie.  I got to say, she seems right up my alley in terms of playstyle.

I had a lot of fun with her, and am keen to exmplore her options. I'm more of a ranged firepower player, so this was a change of gear for me. Although I will say the activation where she cleared out three models in one activation was one hell of an eye opener. For my oponent and myself. I had no idea she could do something like that.

Oh, one other lesson - don't forget the Undercover Reporter's Creep Along. Super, super important.

  2. Thanks for the pointers, guys. That was really helpful, and I took on board what I could in the game last night.

First off, this was first game in around three years, and playing a crew I've never played before. so I knew it would be rough.

My opponent took Levi, the waifs, Marlina, Rusty Alice, two prosctors, two Abominations, and a scav.

I took Nellie, the printing press, Phiona, the Pale rider, a peacekeeper, a field report, and an Undercover reporter. Ad also Deliver a message and Espionage.

The game only went trhee turns, as we ran out of time both trying to remember the rules and me learn my crew. I was ahead by two point having scored  the strat wtice, and one point for each Scheme, but that wasn't really an indication fo where the game was going as we both knew the game wasn't going to reach five turns so took some decisions we otherwise woudln't.

FIrst off, the advice on loading up levi with conditions worked a treat. He barely did anything in three turns, despite start 6" up the board ona  wedge deployment. He did whittle Phi down to one wound left, but that was it.

I did lose the Rider on turn two to rusty alice. I hadn't used him before and after having watched some bat reps with him I think I had an inflated sense of his survivability. I should have switch his position with the peacekeeper who could have soaked up the damage more easily and used the irder to scheme and shoot from the flank before rushing in to explode.

Some lessons were just how survivavble and annoying field reporters are. I took the peacekeeper because I was afraid I wouldn't have enough hitting power (more on that ina moment) but the report just waded into Leve's crew and was pretty much unharmed come the end, after scoring a strat point, setting up the second, and dropping a load of markers.

Lessons No. 2 was just how much damage Nellie can actually do. On the third turn in the centre I Twisted Their Ideals onto both Abominations and Marlina, having them attack each other, explode due to all of the markers around them, and also stack some damage on Leve. Not bad for one activation.

    Lessons learned:

    - Phiona needs LLC. She draws a lot of attention and needs to dictate when she moves.

    - Be more circumspect with the rider.

    - Don't be afraid to take two field reporters if the strats and schemes allow.

  3. Good tips, thanks. I was trying to figure out how to get the most Chi onto Shen. He ended up wit much more than I needed. But learning how far tp push what abilities is part of learning a crew. Loading up the LRM does seem to be moved up the priority Queue. I ended up having to burn a Severe on Yu's Juggernaut to keep him up which wouldn't have been necessary with a loaded LRM.

  4. So I had my first game of Maliafux in over year and just my second in two (thanks covid) last night, and I took the opportunity to try a new master and with Shenlong into Dreamer. I painted the faction over lockdown so was keen to try it out.
First impressions are Shenlong is a beast. He almost managed to kill Teddy in 2 actions, then did kill Copernicus in two, only taking 1 point of poison damage the whole game.
We only managed to get to the end of turn 3, because my first game back and my opponents first game of 3rd Ed, but I'm very much taken by Shen.
This was the biggest crew I've ever put on the table with ten models. The crew was entirely in keywork (Shen, totems, Yu, HRM, LRM, 2 x WRM, 2 Thunder Archers). I was a bit disappointed by the LRM's healing output, but I did fluff his roles, which were offset by the amazing flips for Shen and Yu's melee attacks. And the two WRM's did not last long, but that can probably be put down to my poor use.
Score at the end of turn3 was 4 points to 3 in my favour. Had we reached turn 5 I think I would have run away with it. My opponant had lost Teddy, Copurnicus, two Stitched Togethers and one of his totems, and there was nothing stopping me from continuing to score my vendetta points and one scheme definitely, and probably both. However I will say my opponent was still new to the edition and was very unfamiliar with his crew, so less patting myself on my back as would otherwise be the case.

    For reference.

The more I think about it the more excited I am to try her out. I already often take  current Sonnia with a Handler and two Thralls, but with her ability to drop pyre markers frrikkin' everywhere, Burn them out, and the Thralls' ability to remove burning to heal from enemies, they're going to be a real pain to take down.

The Rider is still going to be necessary to move her up, though.

If anything I think this becomes more bubblier than vanilla Sonnia, which will be strat/scheme dependant, but hey, that's what a paint queue is for.

  6. Hey, all

I don't play Neverborn and have zero experience witht he faction outside of playing against Dreamer a few times in M2E. But I'm  interested in Pandora for a project and I'm wondering is anyone can tell me what staples are in her crew? IE, when you play with or against her, what models are you expecting to see on the table for most strat and scheme pools.

    Any help is appreciated.

Cornelius Basse: Alfa Sand Worm Rider

Basse Muad'Dib. Can summon Sand Worms, you can't cheat against him because he knows everything, and he disappears for the game'sfourth turn for no narrative reason.

This Errata is strange, overall it bringed mass NERFHAMMER to all the factions, leaving no survivors

Opinion from some seems to be that word could be falling into the same errata pattern from m2e, with the first errata of the year focusing on need with a second in the latter half focusing on buffs. So there's that hope.

Molly is really good in the high mobility, scheming oriented situations. I think there's 6-7 scheme marker schemes, and the strategies are all over the map.

Molly struggles a bit with centre brawls against centre-brawl crews, but I don't expect much of that this season :D

Ah right. I hadn't checked the new schemes and stRats yet. Summoned models being unable tone interact is going to hamper me a bit. I really leaned on the Forgotten Marshall.
