Df 4 is way too low for a master, especially with no decent defensive trigger like Riposte, Nice shot, my turn, etc.
I'd call Repulsion plenty decent. It means that any melee will probably only get one attack, and put's you at df5. Plus he's armor 2 and can heal, and very well might have counterspell and/or + to df flips from field generator.
I'd personally like to see something that buffs his electrical fire, and completely changes up his playstyle.

Practiced Production now prevents you from placing Scheme Markers near non-Peon, non-Insignificant enemy models.
- This should help with some of the stronger combinations with models like the Malifaux Raptors by requiring models that could score to begin with, thus controlling this powerful Upgrade.
I think this should be "near non-Peon, non-Insignificant friendly models."

Angelica and raptors are a big buy if you want to go right into Arcanists cheating tactics
Might wait on that, errata should be coming out soon, and I imagine that's an interaction that's going to not exist anymore

The Brass Arachnid can only reactivate constructs can't it? I don't think I've ever had anything that wasn't a construct that I wanted to use his reactivate on.
Yep, just constructs. Being Ramos' totem, it doesn't come up much though.
Also, a bit off topic, but what would be the most rude thing to add Armor to with the Steamfitter, if you could fit him and a scrap engine to do it.
Cassandra would be interesting, means that even when the manage to hit her, it's not as bad. Carlos might be a beast with it, Armor +3 and a bit of safety if he's not on fire for whatever reason, could be overkill though.
Kang seems ridiculous, Armor +1 (or +2 with Sparks in the mix), Hard to Wound, Hard to Kill, some healing... yeah, that. Could get some scrap from porkchop or Emissary or something there too, so not as hard on cards.
Mech Rider could be funny, and shores up some of the early game weakness. Could make the Acolytes even dumber... There's also all the beasts, but I haven't run any of them so can't comment too much on them. Would make you have to do 3 damage to even hurt an unactivated Ox Mage, which could be interesting.
There's plenty of other choices though. Anything truly interesting that I'm not thinking of?

I could see running both a non-Joss scrap engine for turn 1 and the steamfitter for later turns. This would have the bonus of letting you pick up Ramos's summing card turn one, since he wouldn't have to activate before him to make the scrap. Hell, you could even do Steamfitter+Large Arachnid for the same SS cost as Joss+IE+BET (or one less if you run him with PbF), and get 3 scrap turn one, and your summon card back. Maybe use one of those to give Johan Armor +1 for the rest of the game, and he can be your BET caddie? Or maybe The Captain would be worth bringing with Armor +1? Make it a Blade and Claw crew, suddenly you have an Armor +1 Myranda/Cerberus/Blessed? I'm actually starting to like this idea more and more...

Is the Steamfitter a construct? I don't think it was if I'm remembering right.

Hmm, I thought Counterspell was really annoying to tina, as you are now unlikely to meet a trigger, and have probably spent a stone on casting decembers curse
I'll admit that Ramos doesn't often cast electrical fire, but he does really hurt for tomes and stones so I'd be surprised if he tried to cast it against a model with counter spell.
Pretty sure he's talking about them as the ones having counterspell (Raspy on card, Ramos on Under Pressure upgrade)

I've personally started liking Angelica instead of Johan in the Joss/Howard/X trio. Adding another 5in push to a reactivating Howard's alpha strike is disgusting, and the extra mobility for howard or joss later in the game is really nice (besides carrying the PP+raptor package).
-
Nope. I actually thought you couldn't even take a crew that wasn't exactly 20, above or below.
-
Joss and the mages are only 15 points though, no way to get up to 20 (unless you don't take temporary shielding, which is strictly worse).
-
Another really good one is Joss, Howard with IE, Effigy, Toolkit.
Fast Howard with to attack flips will usually straight up murder a model turn 1, or have him Armor 2, which is pretty hard to take down with 11 wounds.
You'd think essentially playing down a model with toolkit being a peon could be a problem, but after howard murders something, so are they.

I'll agree with the general advice you see on here, 9 singles and 1 swarm should do you fine. Realistically, if you ever need more than that of either, you're probably super far ahead in the game anyway and you can find something else to do with that AP.

Kaeris can get 3 a turn from double zero actions thanks to the Emissary, as long as there are 3 models near-ish her.

Do arcanists have any good ways of dealing with buried stuff? That would maybe be a reason to take him, if you really felt like you needed that.

Heretical though this may seem to some, I played a handful of games with Mei Feng and can't ever see myself adding to the tally. If I want a beater Ironsides or Marcus do it so much better. You want mobility, Kaeris or Colette get the nod. Buffs? Ramos, Ironsides and Sandeep. Denial? Rasputina. All rounder? Sandeep. I just don't see a role for her and I found one for Kaeris.
Run her into heavy shooting/casting and come back to me. Vent steam is obscenely good. Her ability to bring Kang can be invaluable as well in some matchups.
She's probably not the best to drop into an unknown matchup, but with the right intuition she definitely has times where she's the best choice.

As Banasuva has to do damage to a friendly nearby Gamin when summoned or he evaporates immediately, am I right in thinking this would also need a 'leaping' Wind Gamin, the Ice Golem's toss, or that new "swap a beast and a construct" upgrade + probably a raptor to achieve?
Can't swap with the raptor, it's a peon

I'll be honest, I've only ever been able to use Snow Storm's heal trigger once. It's not that easy to pull off. He has to kill the model the do it, it needs a crow, and it needs to hit. So you either need to have a high crow in hand and a near-dead model, or you need to stone for the crow and also have a near-dead model. And have a high enough card that the opponent can't cheat, since healing 5 dmg is a big deal and worth a high card on their end to prevent. Silent One's heal is far easier, you just need an 8 to cast.
6 health (or 7 near an ice gamin) isn't really near dead. If you can focus for the attack, it's pretty doable, and with 3in reach, being in range at the start of activation isn't that unlikely.

I use Blessed for schemes primarily, attacking secondarily. Leap to get into position with two AP left is huge to me for that, and after scheme running she is completely competent in combat, and good at eating enemy scheme runners as well. the "Interceptor" position that people have been talking about lately.
Do you use Ice Dancers at all? They seem like they would fulfill the interceptor position for cheaper, and can also drop markers after attacking enemy scheme runners.

Shattered heart gets rid of the Ca penalty of Ice Mirror, unless you mean for doing the triggered attack.

Having a toolkit or electric creation has been pretty important for that turn one scrap in my experience.

If you want to save up a bit, grabbing a performer for free isn't a bad idea, or a Union miner.
Also, as an aside, on week 3 of my own campaign, and as it turns out, Sh7 December Acolytes and a Flying Arcane Emissary are preeeetty good. Furious casting Silent ones aren't bad either.
Also, after the last game the Emissary can leap. Because I clearly needed a 22 in. threat range that's unaffected by models or terrain. (I more got the leap because he'll lose flying once I get raspy and add her upgrade to him. Then I'll probably have a flying Snowstorm...)
-
You focus way to much on the Alpha-ing Ramos thing. You need to make him a beast first, so something needs to get past his crew to him and hit him. Then you need to get Marcus in range and get the alpha off, so a stone and a high card assuming you're running under pressure as you should be. Then you need more 10+tomes or 10+ and more stones. Besides having to be facing Marcus in the first place. It's basically a non-factor.

That's because there is no ruling on that in the FAQ and no information about it in the rulebook. Nothing says that abilities and actions on upgrades count as being on the models card. Only Sandeep can summon in his Gamins, or use his other actions on upgrades.
This is how I've always seen this interpreted, and is likely intended as such, since every other summoning in the game can't be copied (as far as I know).
You could, however, copy another of his actions, get a tome, and use "Student of All" to summon a gamin.

I'm pretty sure I was the first person on the forums to bring up the interaction between PP and False Claim, but I could be wrong about that.
You might be. I haven't been reading everything on the forums. Just seemed like that would be a lot more worth than IE. Actually, what about the new Well Rehearsed upgrade? With the amount of Scheme markers being placed, that would help her move around while still doing all her pushes
I'll take your word on second Miner, haven't played with them.

I think Practiced Production on Angelica here is probably better than IE. Pretty sure you can combine it with the Miner's False Claim, remove one of those two for PP at the end of the turn, then you can still keep the other one, since you can control the order of things that happen at the same time. Much more useful than a one time extra AP on a 6SS support model. Would probably make Claim Jump a breeze to get.
Not sure 2 Union Miners are needed, but idk how much better they got, so I might be wrong. Could swap one for like a Willie for activating HPM, Silent one for heals, Rail worker for tankiness.

It's definitely doable, we have a ton of options that are still good for it that were previously overshadowed.
Soulstone miner can do very near the same thing, December acolytes actually kinda can too, though they probably won't be left alone for long
If we don't use trap door, then Wind gamin can do it, Ice Dancers, Cassandra, Molemen, Firestarter... I'm sure there's more, we're not a slow faction.
It's not an auto-take anymore, but still not too bad
