  1. So, i imagine this:

    MCM

    -Evidence tampering

    -plastic surgery

    -on the clock

    Zombie chiuawa

    Francisco ortega

    -hermanos de armas

    -wade in

    Santiago ortega

    Abuela ortega

    Nino ortega

    Nurse

    Guild rifleman

    7 ss cache remaining

  2. Sorry for that. I misread :)

What if i use mcm instead?

He's also great in melee, he can cure himself, high mobility and he can do great things with scheme marker related objective ,if you are ready to endure poison.

that, with a crew like ortegas, where shrug off is a common feature, isn't a great problem.

He also can deliver precision to the crew.. 1 ap and a mask to make nino and santiago immune to armor, then charge.

Last but not least, 'Cisco offers the proper solution to the horribles df and wp of the doctor.

(Please, remember that these are merely conjecture, i'm not searching for the best buld around, but for well-rounded FUNNY crew to enjoy a different playstyle)

  3. Why family? Because 1) spotter: lady j will be in the thick of things, really few enemies will be out of 8" from her.

2)someone ain't got sliced up properly? Problems with "hard to kill"? Santiago can activete right after her (if you placed him properly) and shoot in combat, taking care of the survivors. And, if you plan to bring togheter a pistolero de latigo...

(By the way, for "spotter" i want lady j too in the family:  never count too much on cisco, if my enemy knows a little how to play, cisco will be a dead man walking)

  4. Just for fun (or not?) Here it is my personal view of lady j:

    Lady justice

    +vendetta

    +badge of office

    Francisco ortega

    +wade in

    +hermanos de armas

    Santiago ortega

    Nino ortega

    Abuela ortega

    Brutal effigy

    Austringer

Not much to say... abuela first turn merries her, than it's a melee dita. It works.

    lol, no problem, mate.

    On the questions you asked:

    1.  I don't like Diestro, mostly because of how expensive the upgrade is.  First off, I don't find myself shooting into combat very often.  The Emissary has "Circular" when he's with Perdita, so getting him into the mix of things would be a better option to Francisco, since he A ) has more wounds B ) has Armor +1 to start, and C ) has passive healing through Destined.  If you lead off an activation to charge with Francisco first, and then Companion over to Perdita, it's likely that both are within range of the same target.  Most models, even Masters, would be hard pressed to survive a double charge attack from the both of them.  In that regard, you definitely want Francisco in melee.  Will he die?  Possibly, but if he's not in combat, his points are honestly wasted.  An experienced player playing against Perdita will know that Francisco needs to go first, and likely set him as a high priority.  The trick with Francisco is to keep him protected until he needs to get into combat.  Once he's in combat, all bets are off.  He'll go down relatively easily, but not before he gets his punches in.  Just be sure that those punches count.  I've won and lost games after losing him; it's simply a matter of how well I played to the strategies and schemes for the game.

    2.  I like the Brutal Effigy, mainly for his "Fear Not the Sword" ability.  It's one of the few ways a Guild Master can heal, and it provides a means of card drawing, which the faction also sorely needs.  Don't even get me started on it's amazing stat line and passive abilities.  Granted all the Effigies are similar in that regard, but Brutal easily is one of the best amongst all of them.

    3.  My games with Perdita and this crew are pretty similar on Turns 1 and 2.  Turn 1, I first use the Effigy, to get a model further up the board.  He uses his (0) action on Perdita, and then walks up.  He's usually completely hidden, or at least behind hard cover.  I then use the Nephilim to push Perdita, Francisco, and Abuela (with her (0) action "Roll me closer) further up the board, using the Effigy's location as a target point.  Next to go would either be the Austringer, or Abuela.  If there aren't any targets within range, I usually go with Abuela first.  She makes the Emissary "Family", and then hides behind cover.  If there're targets within range, I have no issues with the Austringer going next.  Otherwise, both Austringer and Abuela walk up to within range for the following turn.

If there's hard cover further up the board, Francisco would likely go next.  Have him "El Mayor" Perdita, and then walk up once.  Use the (0) action from "Hermanas de Armas" on Perdita, and then have him move up further into cover.  You want to keep him relatively close to Perdita.  Reasons being so that on the following turn, he's within range to give her "El Mayor" again, and close enough to Companion into her, if needbe.  At this point, you're pretty well set up for Perdita to either Companion, or just wait for the following activation.  Make sure that when it's time for Perdita's turn, you still have cards in your hand to "Relocate".  At this point, you should be close to halfway up the board, if not further.  Most opposing models at this point should be within Charge distance or Shooting range, at the very least.  Unless you can kill something in a single shot, you're better off trying to Charge your target with Perdita.  Even if you have to use an AP to move close enough, getting Perdita into melee is always best, so you can take advantage of her built-in :ram in melee.  Don't forget to use your (0) actions, if you're attacking something that's Incorporeal or has Armor.  Otherwise, if you've still got bad cards in your hand, "Hero's Gamble" can't hurt.  If you target models with fewer wounds, you're likely to kill it on a single Charge, which would net you a card from "Fear Not the Sword".  And now that Perdita is Df and Wp 9, she's likely able to adsorb a lot of attacks, presuming any come her way for the rest of the turn.  Last to go would be your Emissary, who should still stay behind cover as much as possible, since he can't heal from Destined until Turn 3 the earliest.

Start of Turn 2, if there are killable targets within range of Perdita and Francisco, go to town with them.  Use the soulstones to add additional :ram if you must.  Between the both of them, you'll kill at least 1 to 2 high priority targets, or 3-4 Minions reliably throughout the course of the game.  Don't worry about Francisco dying if it means keeping Perdita from being targeted.

With the Emissary and Austringer providing support from middle to long range (and not randomizing while shooting into melee), you will have pretty good board control.  Eventually, the Effigy and Abuela can start using their activations to run schemes if necessary.  Turn 2 is also the time to start using Abuela's other (0) action on your other models.  If you feel that Perdita is getting overwhelmed by the opposition, remember that you don't need LOS to use her "Relocate".  So even if Francisco dies, you can use it on either Abuela or the Emissary (presuming you made it a "Family" model earlier).  Once/when Francisco dies (and believe me, he will...), you want to keep her close to the Emissary, since it will be the next biggest support piece in your crew.  Play to the Strategy as best as you can so you can build up it's Destined condition, and remember that it heals at the end of it's activation, and not at the end of the turn (like most people tend to think).  From that point on, it's just a matter of keeping your other schemes in mind.

    3.  I like Dr. Grimwell, but not with Perdita.  A model like him would be better suited with McCabe or McMourning, for the crazy buffs, movement and pushes those crews can provide for him.

    4.  I like Aura Ancestral more for it's passive ability to give my other Family models +2 Wp.  Most factions will have some sort of Terrifying or Manipulative ability at some point that you'll have to face.  Having a higher Wp can never hurt.  Plus the fact that Perdita would ignore all of that whenever she attacks also helps.  Anything you can do to allow your models to ignore opposing duels within the game is generally a VERY GOOD THING.  Os Veo is more situational, but in a competitive setting, it's better to be safe than sorry.  If I'm facing Neverborn, Guild, or Outcast, it's on her always, since those factions have either reliable shooting or target her Wp a lot.  Stubborn is one of those abilities that is completely useless until it's completely useful.  Forcing a model to Focus, use Soulstones, or spend other resources just to target Perdita's Wp is always well worth having the ability.

    Good luck!

Thank you! I have not faced a tournament yet, i lack of experience. Never faces nothing other than neverborn and guild..i will run my first tournament next month, i want to be prepared :D by the way... usually i litteraly "throw" cisco at people with abuela: her  action "listen up young 'un" to force cisco to do "enfrentate a mi!" On the meanest thing around, then unload granny shotgun on the unlucky bastard. If not dead yet, companion cisco to finish him off, and/or jump on the next bad guy, to help dita targeting him.

Not the best strategy around, but it works. I will defenitely try effigy and emissary :)

I think you mean "Hair Trigger" here, but I could be mistaken...

Personally, I'm a big fan of the Emissary.  In a lot of the GG2016 Strategies, it wouldn't be hard to gain VP for them, and start building his Destined condition.  I also like Abuela as well, who could then make Emissary a "Family" member too.  In the last tournament I played with Perdita, this was the crew I had used.  I played the exact same crew in all 3 rounds, and ended up taking 1st place overall, if that gives any credence to it.

    Perdita (Cache 7)
    - Trick Shooting
    - Aura Ancestral
    - Os Veo
    Francisco
    - Wade In
    - Hermanas de Armas
    Enslaved Nephilim
    Brutal Emissary
    - Conflux of the Hunt
    Abuela Ortega
    Guild Austringer
    Brutal Effigy

Round 1 was "Guard the Stash", Round 2 was "Reckoning" and Round 3 was "Turf War", with a good mix of schemes amongst all of them.  One thing I've always thought was necessary for Perdita to do well with her crew was having multiple "Family" members on the table.  You don't realize how important it is to have them on the board until you need to "Relocate" somewhere, either to get out of combat, or just for situational purposes, which I find do come up very frequently with her.

I will also say that my cache is used more for adding Rams to my attacks than for damage prevention.  Situationally, I may use them on Francisco to prevent, but only if it's early in the game.  They're much better used catering to their offensive abilities, IMHO.

Yeah, i meant hair trigger, sorry XD

Please, teach me.. i'm new, and i have played a really few matches, but i can't really imagine how to play your crew: francisco without diestro? Why Brutal effigy and not wastrel (just for example)? How do you place you pieces? I found really important a solid melee fighter with good mobility to merry with dita and look out for ambushers/scheme runner.. austringer is a good replacement for my dr grimwell? Why aura ancestral/os veo by default?

  7. Well... usually i use

    Dita+trick shooting

    Enslaved nephilim

    Cisco+diestro

Dr.grimwell+his own equip (forgot the name)

    Abuela ortega

    Nino

    1x wastrel

+trick shooting on abuela or nino, dependig on what i'm facing.

I bring back with me always more wastrels (scheme runner) rifleman (they look awesome...and are a less expensive nino) and watcher (in combo with trick shooting, for armourloving guys hidden behind walls)

The story's the same: cisco in the thick of things diestroing (sorry for the horrible pun)  enemies, everyone else shooting at them (except grimwell, who will hunt down scheme runners and collect soulstones)

USE ALL SOULSTONE ON PREVENTING DAMAGE ON CISCO: as long as he's alive, everything is fine.

Attack with him only if necessary: his main goal is to use enfrentate a mi! - finesse - and bring dietro on the uglyest enemy. Thanks to granny and dita, he can do enfrentate a mi! More than once

  8. I think that Nino is not so situational. Yes, it's not an auto-include, but he plays his part.

For the damage itself, it is not a killer, but i usually play him this way: from the shadow-line of sight with a totem/scheme runner/focus. And the sucker's out.

Or, with a good crow in your hand, try make him go first/last and shoot on the biggest/meanest thing: if he goes first, you wil make your opponent drop two card for sure. If he goes last, maybe even a soulstone

  9. Granny claim her price in terms of ss, but for now she's my favourite ortega (not in that way..)

Shotgun wedding on a scheme runner such watcher works great to shukle family members where i need them.

Pull me closer is a free walk action, or an emergency exit for engagement

Listen up young un is a good 3rd action on other guys...

Than, try to invest some point on her, with a lead line coat on that old knees and her df trigger, you got an armor 2 old granny.

Oh, and you csn always say that an old ma shotgun your opponent crew down XD

  10. Hi everyone!

I'm new into this and i fell in love with ortegas. I'm trying to establish sone strategies and links between the models..how do you play them?

My favourite combo right now is 'francisco-abuela, or maybe francisco-dita-abuela, with cisco in the backline.

    Abuela with hair trigger,

    Cisco with diestro

I usually push abuela forth toward the biggest bad guy, el-mayoring her for her safety (she's old, poor thing..), waiting for her to be charged. When the time comes,  thanks to her abilities she will get away with just a scratch. Then, the routine is:

0 action: listen up young un on Cisco, that performs enfrentate a mi: he gets into engagement and push back abuela

Then, the two AP of the granny go on hair trigger, pullin out 3 shotgun attack on the unfortunate guy, unabled to cheat due to Diestro, triggering slug on the third attack if necessary.

I think this combo is pretty decent, but i do not see abuela listed in many crews. Why?

For the rest of the gang.. how do you couple them? I think dita and papa together make a good couple..the only ortega i usually leave home is santiago because of his poor synergies with the others, bringing up in exchange the latigo fellow and a watcher (using him well can save me the 2 ap of trick shooting on dita, or let me use the 0 ap action to negate armor while watcher nagates cover)

    Every suggestion is welcome!!!
