  1. I was almost right there with you.

I raged like a madman and said some pretty nasty things....honestly I was expecting to get banned. I felt the same...that it was dumbed down and that everything was becoming much more vanilla. Browsing the forums isn't going to do it for you. You've got to put those negative feelings out of your head and forget last edition. Look at M2E as if you're playing a brand new game. That's what I needed to do.

Give it an honest chance and you may change your mind. It's not dumbed down. The only thing that was really lost was those 'wall of texts' that honestly caused more trouble with rules than they were worth. The game is much cleaner than it was. It's still very challenging to truly master it. The resource management is incredibly intensive. Give it that chance for a few real games....full 50ss games. It may happen that this still isn't the game for you...and that's okay...it's not for everyone. But honestly I believe that if you liked 1st edition you should like M2E......the core mechanics are virtually the same.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Yeah, I'll be honest - I found 1.5 to be very intimidating. This edition just neatens up the rules so they're easier to read - which I must confess I did not find 1.5 to be at all.

  2. Mmmm...

I'm seeing that the previously existing contents, except for the News Articles, have been moved to the new domain.

So, basically an image that was located under

    http://www.wyrd-games.net/Newsletter_v3/Ads/WYR20223-Crooligans.jpg

    is now located under

    http://themostexcellentandawesomeforumever-wyrd.com/Newsletter_v3/Ads/WYR20223-Crooligans.jpg

Then there are those uploaded by Ratty/Aaron. Probably putting these back in their previous location, and starting a new folder for the new stuff under the new domain would be the best way to limit big holes, since the main address of the site is still wyrd-games.net, running a function to fix/redirect all the "www.wyrd-games.net" occurencies would cause trouble...

Btw, the new site is really cool and an improvement over the old one, especially because the new arrangement reflects my idea of completeness, order and easy-to-find contents. :)

Thank you, this will be very helpful for a lot of people on A Wyrd Place complaining that they can't see the new crews for ordering purposes this Wednesday. :)

  3. Sam, that's totally fine - the store will obviously be open weekends. :)

I'm trying to get people playing it before we open so on even our opening day we'll have a group of people playing it before we open, as I hope to lean pretty heavily on this paired with GW and WMH. We'll be having our opening day on the 28th of August, and we'll be a little unfinished but the store WILL BE OPEN on the day. :)

  4. I think the thing that a lot of people are missing is that AoS is essentially a 'living rulebook' concept. They've actually said through a couple of reps that they intend for all the rules to remain free, online, and to be constantly evolving and updating. What we're seeing is very similar to the genesis of 3rd edition 40k, where they stripped back a very very complex game and made a very streamlined game that made a lot of people mad (although I'll admit not to this level). As the years went on, they slowly dripped the complexity back into it.

I'm really glad that some people are just taking this as a starting point for something new - because that's what it is. It's a game being rebuilt from the ground up. You're entitled not to like it - but I suspect it'll be something very different in only a year or two.

  5. Distributors whom purchase directly from us are listed. All else are retailers or resellers whom are picking up their product from elsewhere.

Turns out that Mainly Medieval are my distributor, they just changed names several years ago. :P

The reference card thing should be looked at though - they are actually unreadably small.

  6. Firstly, love the facelift. I love that the site also now works well on mobile devices. :) Lots of wonderful, positive stuff - the layout is really easy to wrap your head around (once you get over the shellshock of the new).

I do however have a couple of weird quibbles:

    1. My local Malifaux retail distributor isn't mentioned on the Retailer Support website. http://www.aetherworks.com.au/ - I've been ordering our store's stock from them for 9 months now and they're just the most amazing bunch, if you could add them to your list as they do stock all the Wyrd stuff that's available, that would be amazing.

    2. The reference cards posted on the Resources page are too low a resolution even to read - can we get one that's at least double the res, nay triple so I can print them out for the shop? :)

  7. Hey guys,

I have a store opening in Ringwood that's still being built at this stage - but we want to have a ready made Malifaux community baked in before we open. So I'm running afternoon demo games throughout the university school holidays for the next few weeks, starting with Wednesday the 22nd of July at the (still empty factory soon to be known as) House of War at 52 Maroondah Highway, Ringwood Australia.

Games will be starting late morning and going through til about 3. Please do let me know either on this post or my person phone on 0400646064 if you're coming so I know if I need more than a couple of crews.

    Cheers,

    Allan.

  8. Just a note: if you applied to be a Henchman before today (7-13-15) your application will still be processed but it may take a bit as Gen Con prep is always a busy time. :)

That's a relief. I put in an application two weeks ago and was paranoid it didn't get to you as I'd heard nothing back. :)

  9. I ran a GW store for two years - and despite my customer base genuinely being a group of very nice people, the one word I could never push out of their lexicon was 'rape' - like "those Devestators RAPED that Land Raider" - it made my wife VERY uncomfortable, and not surprisingly the customer base was largely male. Now, they were nice people, and would never pull anything nasty - but I had to constantly kick their asses and politely and VERY firmly remind them that I could cope with a bit of bad language but that was where I drew the line. People rarely made a big deal out of it and I respected them for it - however it was made very clear that the word was so entrenched in the local gaming community that it would be very, very hard to remove. People just didn't see it as as the big deal I did. This is more a societal thing I think - and had no real bearing on the sort of customer base I had. But still. Troubling.

But the thing I really wanted to pipe up on - I LOVE that they use the female pronoun in Malifaux. It's a wonderful change that I honestly had to double take to notice.
