  1. So, after playing Molly's core crew, I did discover that the Crooligan's Blistering Fog will double the damage from not only Black Blood, but also the effect from Molly's summoning.  And the -1 Wp from the Crooly's Creepy makes the summoning damage that much harder to resist. :D A 0 action, only takes a 9 to cast, and has the :crow built in, too!

  2. So I'm back to Rezers, how I missed the dead girls...

Anyways, I'm planning on focusing all my energy on mastering Molly Squidpiddge, and I think I've been missing a little damage on my opponent.

If Molly has the Forgotten Life upgrade on, giving all her horror and belle friends within :aura6 Black Blood, and she summons said horror or belle model within :aura6, when it takes the damage from being summoned, does it's black blood kick out a wound of damage to everything within :pulse1, as well as the 1 damage to everything within :pulse3 that fails it's Wp duel?

'Cause causing 2 damage to things while creating a slowed Punk Zombie in their face would be sweet!

What if your opponent decides to run Lady J, thinking they will definitely score assassinate, and then Levi pops up and their crew isn't very good at two of the other schemes. Exactly the same effect, except they had no idea what was coming. You knew full well assassinate was in the pool well before picking Levi.

Not the same effect!  Lady J hunts down and kills 2-3 Waifs.  Done; end of game, 2 points.

    What I think the scheme should say, IMHO;

    3: Neutralize The Leader
Cut off the head, and the snake will die.
This Scheme may not start revealed. Reveal this Scheme
once this Crew has scored any VP from it.
The first time the enemy Leader is reduced below half
of their starting Wounds, gain 1 VP.
The first time this crew makes the enemy Leader leave play, score 2 VP.

But, really, I'm done trolling over something that will occur 4 in 54 percent of the time.  The game is still the best one out there.  I just originally wanted to bitch about the unfairness for Levi (and Dreamer) lovers.

  4. Well I opened a can of worms, here.

I can't believe I'm on the other side of an argument with Fetid Strumpet, since I've looked up to him since I first opened my Red Chapel box.

I have listened to the Cheated Fates episode now, as well as the Schemes and Stones GG2016 episode, and even Before We Begin's new episode where Ben Crowe makes a Levi crew for the new schemes.  And I've talked over the new schemes with my fellow players 'round here.  And while I am not filled with the contention I'm feeling here, it still doesn't sit right.  A scheme that rewards the opponent for you using Leveticus's core ability is not the same as the opponent having to kill 2 of your minions a turn, even if you are spitting them out through summoning.  And that would just be poor play-style anyway; Nicodem is also built to buff his current allies, not just to summon.  Same with Ramos.  Kirai can rock it herself, Molly should count her summoning as a reward for 1 pt blast damage, etc, etc.  Levi's kinda' a 1 trick pony.  An amazing trick, but 1 trick.  And yes, Hunting Party is advantageous to certain masters.  I personally play against an opponent that lives on Perdita.  I saw Hunting Party and groaned.  Her whole family are enforcers.  At least with make them Suffer in the scheme pool she had to bring some Pistoleros or Death Marshalls.

While all the new schemes do create disadvantages for some masters and advantages for others, the opponent still has to put some effort and thought into it.  It is not an auto 3 points just for taking a certain master.  Certain schemes request thinking outside the box if you want to play a certain master, which is always fun and good for you, but are not an auto 3 points for playing them at all.

And yes, most of us do have some choice in who we hire into are crews, for example, I got Vickie A. if I see Neutralize the Leader come up.  But how do I explain to someone who just has Leveticus that they are handing over points because they bought the wrong crew box?  I, myself, would be in that situation if I hadn't gotten lucky with a Christmas Hired Swords box (randomly picked by my mother).

Luckily my friends aren't ready to use the new schemes yet.

Hell with it!  Molly's been whispering to me from the shelf, "that's 'cause you're a Rezer..."  And I think she's right.  I declare Rezers!

Yeah, I've already told my friends that if I declare Outcasts and a 3 is flipped for schemes, expect to see the Vicks, because she's my only other Outcast master.

Since all the podcasts seem to be making the lame joke, I gotta throw mine in the ring...

Can't wait 'till Taelor gets the exhausted condition, so she can Shake, shake it off! ;p

Every master has strengths and weaknesses, and the arguable strongest master in the game probably deserves a few weaknesses.

Absolutely, you're right.  It just seems crappy that the scheme pool would cause those weaknesses in such a way.  While, for example, Perdita and kin seem to get a huge leg up from the 25% of the time scheme Hunting Party (while similar to Make Them Suffer, that one at least penalized crews with too few minions as well)

Yeah, I've already told my friends that if I declare Outcasts and a 3 is flipped for schemes, expect to see the Vicks, because she's my only other Outcast master.  I don't trust my Levi skill enough yet to play him support style - yet.  Levi melts faces.

  7. So, looking over the new Gaining Grounds schemes, and 3 and 9 immediately jump off the page at me as someone just getting into Leveticus.  And I'm sure there's more I haven't realized yet.  I know he's a powerful master, and I know he abused the old schemes, but that IS why I picked him up, after all.  Most of the new stuff seems fair, he can't abuse his rebirth effect to remove scheme conditions anymore, and such, fair, but...

For example, Mark for Death; so if he buries himself while marked, the opponent gets a point?  This is tolerable because he's hard to mark if he goes early, but.. Neutralize the Leader!; he does it to himself to Channel.  And don't tell me it is balanced by schemes like Setup and Public Demonstration.

I'm sure, if it's as bad as it looks, I'm not the only one ranting about this, so I'll be glad to read all the links you post me.  Maybe they're like Assassinate was, but I doubt it.

Still, these schemes do look like a lot of fun otherwise.  Maybe I am going to learn the Viktorias, instead, after all.

If you think yours was a casualty of a production error, you can fill out a parts request and ask for a replacement part.

Where do I go to do that?  I have a feeling it popped off and fell out in shipment (there was holes in the plastic shrink wrap.)  I really liked the look of her with the ponytail, though I would feel like an ass to make a big deal out of it.

I didn't get her from the Wyrd web-store, tho, but mail ordered from a game store in Michigan, if that will make a difference?

  9. nope, hand don't fit slot.  and no ponytail that I see.  but if yours had it, I'll start searching the floor.  sigh

Well, the hands on.  Took a little shaving, but it's in.  Damn you Wyrd for having such well detailed, good looking intricate models!

Looks like Taelor called dibs on the pony-tail thing, 'cuase Vanessa's is not in her box.

  10. I just got my 'Nessa, started gluing her together, and can't find no ponytail on the sprue... :(

The picture on the back of the box shows a ponytail.  Is it just missing from my box?  Or did I already lose it?  I don't see a spot for it on the sprue.  And the Wyrd blueprint page don't show it either....

And how does this hand go on?!

  11. Oh no!

Looking over my plan of attack, I realized I'm gonna be spending a lot of scrip on abominations, cause soon I will be sacrificing them for a Desolation Engine.  That's not too bad, but...

If I take Levi after week four as my master, will he have to flip for finished off the first time I sacrifice him each game? Or just if he's buried at the end of the game?

  12. So the crew was officially built today.  We ran a trial week, just to see what might need changed in the crews.  I scored 3 CP, tying for last.

    The crew is;

    Rusty Alice with Oathkeeper

    2 Convict Gunslingers

    2 Abominations

I won my first game against Snowstorm, a Silent One, a December Acolyte, and 2 Ice Gamin.  I screwed up several times, and realized I gotta memorize my models better.  For example, I let Snowy charge Alice... :( But in the end, I focused on the task at hand and scored all my VP's for a declared Protect Territory and an unrevealed Power Ritual.  The strat was Reconnoiter, which I did a good job tar-pitting my opponent.

The second match-up was against Hannah, 2 Friekorpsmen, the Librarian, and a Trapper.  Damn those Friekorps!  I screwed up again on turn 2 when I didn't wait for the trapper to activate before I moved my body-guarded Gunslinger out from behind blocking terrain.  I stopped Reconnoiter each turn but 4, but an Entouraged Alice got "Friekorp mugged" trying to get across the board.  Really, the problem I see against that crew, though, will be all that blasted healing.  My opponent better not let her guard down on that librarian once!

Finally, I faced the Latigos.  Francisco, Santiago, 3 Pistoleros, and a Watcher.  It was a close game that I coulda' won but for the technicality of Make Them Suffer.  I showed up with only 2 minions, and the strat was Reckoning, so of course the fire was focused on those abominations, guaranteeing my opponent a point every turn.  Well played, sir...  I got my points from Assassinate and Murder Protege, though.  Easy thanks to Gunslingers taking 5-6 shots a round with no modifier through cover.  The harder scheme was Murder Protege with an El Mayor-ed Santiago.  But still; a loss for lack of minions!?!

    Really loved those Gunslingers!

Week 1 will officially be Carnivorous Plants.

  13. Being a dumby, I thought the first week arsenal was built with 25 SS for some reason.  That 10 more stones makes a heckalotta difference, I tell you.

Now I'm thinkin'; Alice, 2 Convicts and 2 Abominations.  Like I said, all but the Rezers are bringing shooty crews to the party the first week, and I don't want a melee gang out in the field being riddled with iron.  I was thinking Desolation Engine, but...  If Alice can make 2 more abominations by turn four (with the right positioning) good luck to the opponent, 'cause here comes the Engine, anyways.  Situational, I know, unfortunately.  Otherwise, the gun line runs cover while while the abominations run schemes.  Week 2 I'll probably hire those super needed 2 more abominations, and if I can afford her, Vanessa.  I know everyone see's her as the "sister healer", but she can also give an abomination - or desolation engine - another action.  Plus, I would love to make my opponents' constructs hit each other.  "aww, did your Joss kill your silent one?"

That Vick crew idea looks good.  I was thinking Tealor and Ronins, but my opponents' range heavy crews have got me nervous about mid-field.  And want to hear the strangest thing; while the Wave 1 Arsenal Deck comes with Von Schill and the rest of the Friekorps, it oddly does not contain the Librarian...

  14. I'm so glad that there was a couple bites to this post.  Dead Zone is an understatement around Upstate New York!

Unfortunately, the LGS didn't work out :(  However, We're up to 5 in my "little club", and if you live around Albany, NY, you are welcome to join us in our residential setting.  Of course, it will be a trial run (if you seem to be casing the place for valuables, you wont be back, for example).  But yeah, we are that needy for new opponents.

    :D

There is a gaming group in Albany called The Shambling Horde, we were primarily a Warhammer club but Age of Sigmar has pushed us all away from that and into other games. There is a Forum on http://www.theshamblinghorde.com/ where we post looking for games in the area, we play at Grimfoe (now called Flipside) and Zombie Planet. Post up there as I know of at least 4-5 of us have Malifaux and are looking for more games and expanding the people we play.

Still waiting for approval to join Shambling Horde, 2 months later...

  15. Hey Wyrdos.  My friends and I are about to start a new Shifting Loyalties campaign, and I need help.

This is our second campaign.  It is probably gonna run 8 weeks.  I believe we are gonna use the rarity rule.  The first campaign, I ran Rezers.  I had fun, but lost miserably!  This campaign, I'm going to play Outcasts.  I have access to the Leveticus box crew plus the Desolation Engine, the Victorias box crew, plus Vanessa, and the Wave 1 Arsenal deck.

The first thing I noticed was that unlike Rezers where I started with 6 models, this time around I'm having trouble getting 3.  Is this what my opponents go through!?!  I'm leaning toward Alice as my leader, but she barely brings anything to the table some days with Levi running the show.  Of course I've got Vickie B (expensive) and Tealor, too.  And if you read my other posts, you'll see how much I want TayTay to work for me (she hasn't yet).  I'm thinking about bringing convict Gunslingers, but I'm not sure.  Desperate Mercs, just to get thru the first week?  Seems like a bad strategy.

I'm at a loss.  I'm under the impression that I'm going to face Snowstorm, Francisco, and Hannah.  And probably Valedictorian.  We each have 2 crews and 1 Arsenal deck to work with.

    Help!?!

Edit - Here's what I got; Rusty Alice, Convict Gunslinger, and Freikorps Specialist.  Or 2nd Gunslinger instead of Specialist....  Ahhhh!

  16. So, I just got the Vickies.  Read what I expected on their cards; place, buff, murder, place.  I'm hard of thinkin', and boy, all them :+fate's on attack and damage from all them sources, are really gonna hurt ma' head, remembering.

But, whoa!, I really like the Ronins.  Maybe it's 'cause my hardest opponent to beat plays Arcanists, and they ignore armor, or maybe it's the Next Target ninja stuff, or maybe it's Hard to Kill followed by Seppuku.

But the model I instantly fell in love with was Taelor (consequently, she's the first one done being painted), and I don't know why.  After countless models lost to Joss, I feel like she could be "little Joss".  I haven't seen Welcome to Malifaux work out yet, but damn Ramos' spiders.  Charge 6", 3" reach, add Scramble; this girl seems so tasty!  Hard to Wound, Hard to Kill.  But so far, dead by turn 3, every game, and nothing to write Earthside about.  There's gotta be something special about her, right?  I wish she was a construct.  She's no Hannah, but who is?

Any-who; I want to make a special kinda' crew.  Thinking outta the box a little.  Thinking "Suit Schemes", I came up with a hench crew.

Leveticus, not just 'cause I have to in order to make this crew, but because he'd be efficient for what I'm trying to do; Kill!  He'd have to take Pariah of Iron.  I think From Ash would be necessary, since I'm not bringing the little guys.  And Survivalist, 'cause it always sucks when he dies by someone else's hands and doesn't get to make a Waif.

Joss.  I've admired him from the sharper side of his axe for so long, I want him to work for me.  He gets Scramble and Oathkeeper, 'cause why not?

Taelor (Tay-Tay).  She's why this crew is being thought up.  Also with Scramble and Oathkeeper.  Again, I really wish she was a construct.  Her pneumatic arm appears to only be a prosthetic .  This is where there's actually a question to all of this.  Who can "construct Levi" hire to help Taelor out?  I feel Hard to Wound +1 is nice, but is there a way to give her Armor?  Or is there a hire-able model that can heal her (staying in Outcasts/Leveticus)?  Do I have to take Freikorps Librarian for this?  Also and again if she was a construct, Rusty Alice could throw her a Reactivate after reaching Hard to Kill.  Is there a way to "reactivate" Taelor?

Finally, and this is subject to change, but I feel he fits the "beat down" theme; Ryle.  Also with Scramble and Oathkeeper.   He slightly makes up the lack of range (besides the boss), and can bash things as well as the other two.

And that's 50 stones with a cache of 7.  (I would not play this against Guild, in case they take Roundup.  I don't trust my flips for Transfigure)

    Whaddya think?

  17. My two hay-pennies;

I started with a box of Arcanists (Rasputina), and found her powerful, but really, really slow.  Another player told me most Arcanists were similar to this, and had expensive Soulstone costs.  Then I saw Seamus at the store, and had to have him!  Rezers have so many pushes and pulls that I would have half my crew on the center-line by the end of first turn.  But they hit like mosquito, and died rather quickly.  Well, I kept trying.  They were also SS cheap, and you can make more on the table, so I threw horde after endless horde at my opponents.  Sure, I won more as I got better, but to set up the board the way I needed it (which is seemingly necessary for Rezers) I often felt like I was pulling teeth.  Iron Zombies and the 10T/Rezer Toshiro seemed to be the only beaters in the faction.  I learned to play a scheme running game, but sometimes you just want to kill something!

All this while I watched my Arcanist opponent (now with my old 'Tina crew and a few others) bash my face in, and my Guild opponent, rocking the Latigos, shoot me repeatedly from across the table.  So I picked up Leveticus thinking he looked like a duel faction Arcanist/Rezer.  I've only played a few games with him, 'cause of the holidays, but after running Rezers for about a year, Outcasts are shaping up to be my favorite faction.  They just seem so versatile!  And I recently saw, if you want even more versatility, an answer for everything, the Outcast crew Von Shill and the Friekorps are amazing for it.  Though don't expect any kind of Nova damage with that one.

It depends on your play style.  Every faction has something good and something bad about them, it seems.  But I have to recommend Outcasts.  And best of all, a lot of them are mercenaries, so if you decide you like another faction better, you can still use them.:D

  18. So, the new print on demand cards from Wargammer's Vault are a really great idea.  I understood the reason Wyrd decided to stop making them; if you haven't replaced all your 1 & 1.5 stat cards by now, you really don't play enough to matter.  But my LGS only stocks the metal blister packs (leftovers.  I'm gonna change that, but they only have so much space), and I feared not having access to all things Wyrd.  Simply to have access to all things Wyrd!  So this print on demand is Great!

Now, I just jumped over to Outcasts from Rezers.  Have the Levi box and the Vickies box, and want to, want to, want to put a Scramble on Tay-Tay (Taelor), but don't have the card.  Wargammer Vault doesn't seem to have any upgrades for print, tho.  Am I looking in the wrong place?  Is there any news if they will be available soon?

Or, I'll simply give Wyrd my money, please and thank you, but I can't seem to locate the Outcast crew that the X3 Scrambles come in.  Again, am I just missing it, which crew brings them?

    Thanks

    Mwhahaha!

No, just kidding.  I dunno, sometimes there's a tidbit of info on an old thread that I would not have found if someone hadn't posted on it to bring it back to the top of the pile.  But it's a forum, and it's not like people to complain about something so small and stupid on the internet, right?

And Rezers don't have too many stances, they have pushes...  Arcanist Metal Gamins do the stance thing...

    Also; I'm Irish and a Rezer! ;)
