The addition to Survival of the Fittest basically addressed the interaction of Survival of the Fittest and Pitched Assault.

Previously, if GB killed a fireteam, that was a freebie VP for the other side, both for fillet point #1 and bullet point #4.  Now it's only a freebie point if you kill a Commander fireteam for Survival of the Fittest.

If you finish off a unit using Survival of the Fittest, I believe those would still count against the GH player.

    So eat responsibly.  :)

The change to Endless Numbers was basically house keeping.  I think everyone was playing it that way:

    - If you had 3 squad units that were killed the previous turn, you can "bring back" (summon new copies of) any of those three units, at the price of one command point each.

Depending on how you read the old language, you might think you could only bring back one of them.

I think the Envoy card errata was just that the name wasn't the same somehow.  🤷‍♀️

Ah, thanks, I never realized that about Pitched Assault, sloppy reading on my part. Glad they fixed that, sounds like that would’ve hurt the Hordes a lot in that mode.

  2. Just got my order in, did not receive shipping info/tracking before it came in (which is fine). Looks good at first glance, have had a couple models with limbs broken off but shouldn't be hard to fix, and it looks like everything has come in. I'm at DFW Texas for reference, hopefully other domestic orders that don't have info yet are on their way too.

Update: Got everything, other than slight damage to a few models and some of the boxes everything is here and looks great!

I'm assuming that just means that a henchman doesn't have to hench all of the games.  I mean, you're not required to demo the board games as a henchman, right?

That's what I took it to mean as well, but I haven't seen anything concrete one way or the other.

Out of curiosity where did you see this announcement?

I asked in the comments for the kickstarter and got a reply confirming it, I can't remember if it was @Aaron or just staff but it was definitely from Wyrd. If you do a search for Jonathan Sharrow on the comments page I think that would find it, that's my username on there. I'll take a look too and see if I can quote it.

    EDIT:

Here's the kickstarter quote from Aaron, on January 20th: "Yah, the Henchman program will expand for this."

And my question: "By the way @Aaron, any chance that the Henchman program will expand to TOS in some form?"

I've upgraded my pledge from Commander to Double Commander, so that my Gibbering Hordes have some people from the King's Empire to eat. :D

If you don't need a second rulebook it's only $90 for a second faction. Which is a pretty sweet deal...
My excuse is that as a henchman, if I want to demo the game, I'll need the second faction.

Yeah the fact that Wyrd is planning on expanding the henchmen program to include TOS combined with the reduced cost thanks to the second rule book being traded in sealed my fate as a Dual pledger too.

  6. I think the idea of having dozens of models per squad in an army game is frankly outdated for most games. Warhammer makes it work through sheer momentum mostly, and as was mentioned Fantasy has movement trays so it's less of an issue. The idea of having so many models probably originates from when wargaming was an historical hobby, where so many models was a major feature. When all of those models have to be deployed and moved all the time it's far less entertaining.

I'm willing to wait on egg clutches and morphlings if we don't get them. They're cheap enough that I can grab them one at a time with other purchases while I play some games and decide how many I want.

Fair enough, I personally want one just to fill in a list that's a few scrip shy of full. And I'm sure it'll be fun to start the game with one far out and then hatch it to tie up some important fire team.

  8. Horomatangi probably, and an egg clutch if we don't hit it's addon by tomorrow evening (which is likely). I too am debating between the Speckled Crawlers and Barbed Crawlers for my last squad, leaning towards Barbed to get some range into my list.

I must admit, the King's Hand also does it for me:

So for the King's Empire I really have to say I love how this model looks and also how the larger armor plates allow for some seriously sick free-hand painting options.

King's Empire really is hard to beat on the Titan front. IMO only the Cult got one that looks as fantastic.

I hope there will be more like him. Commanders are just awesome.

Honestly TOS has really impressed me with its commander design. Particularly the Frenzy and Horomatangi, a squad commander and Titan commander are really cool ideas.

The Frenzy. I love sharks, so having a commander that's a group of 3 land sharks just felt tailor made to me. The fact that they seem to act like a group of vicious predators, repeatedly attacking and throing prey between themselves is a huge bonus.

I'm probably gonna say The Frenzy as well. Way they remind me of Street Sharks is perfect amount of fun goofiness, but they still look menacing enough to be taken seriously.

Since Frenzy was already mentioned, I'm gonna also name my second favorite: Speckled Crawlers. I just love those lifeless bulging eyes and row of huge fangs, makes them look really disturbing. They really remind me of those horrific deep sea fishes, namely fangtooth or dragonfish.

The Frenzy are amazing, I think they're the model(s) that really cemented me in the Hordes. They're everything I love about Malifaux's models, other than the fact that they aren't zombies.

Now that you mention them I really should take a better look at the Speckled Crawlers, I liked my first impressions of them and haven't checked them out since, but they might be worth the add on.

Now that we have seen the actual rules of these yummy little eggs, this topic's question becomes pretty relevant.

They seem really useful for the Hordes. They are easy and delicious way to get your guys to glory and collect reinforcement tokens. And since they benefit from Endless Numbers, them "not being on the table long" is really not true.

It's hard to say off the cuff are they worth 2 scrip (probably are), or do you just want to summon them with Karkinoi. With three 8 or above cards, squad or Karkinoi can summon three in a turn (in theory gloried Karkinoi could summon six in a turn).

So, maybe three is good choice?

Two or three sound right, one is definitely too few and any more than three starts to get a tad excessive, although I'm sure you'd use them occasionally.
