  1. Hey all, Been making some progress on expanding the crew. I just finished the canine remains from the McMourning set. Not entirely happy with it's fur, the detail is very shallow and difficult to drybrush, but I really like how the bones came out. It's difficult to see, but I painted the exposed muscle and bones with P3 Thrall Flesh and then washed the muscle part twice with Secret Weapon's Drying Blood wash ... came out a nice scabby dark red. Woof ... Canine Remains On the painting desk now are the two nurses from the McMourning box. They're being done in the fairly traditional white lab dresses with red piping and red leggings. I've got to do some highlighting on the red, their shoes and any other black/dark blue parts, their syringes, and their face and hair. Should be finished up in the next week. I also started painting up the Bete Noir. I only have the base red and blue/black done, but I'm really happy with how the transition from the blood puddle to her dress came out so far. That's probably a couple weeks out and will be finished once the nurses are done (I've realized I have difficulty keeping multiple painting projects going at once since I forget where I left off on them). Until next time, -A-
  2. Hey all, Sorry for the slow updates; I wasn't able to work on Seamus and the Copycat Killer as much as I would have wanted to. Anyways, here they are. Sorry about the bad pictures as usual. I need to find some better lighting. I tried to tie the crew together a bit by using a nice bright color on their bows. As was commented before, their highlights are little more noticable in person, but I need to work on making them more striking. Copycat reminded me of a lepricaun, so I gave him red hair. Seamus Copycat Killer The gang's all here ... Next up are a pair of nurses and the canine remains from the McMourning box; maybe the flesh golem as well. I've got a pair of hanged and a bete noir in the hopper as well. Thanks and hopefully another update soon! -A-
  3. Looks great. I did mine with reddish hair as well(hopefully pictures will be up tonight, Photobucket is being weird). I like the contrast you have in your highlights ... I need to work on my color selection to bring my highlights out more. Really great stuff. Can't wait to see what you do with the Belle's.
  4. Thanks for the comments. @ Nighthater and Kotep ... agreed, the skin is a bit flat. I did do a blue-grey wash around the shadows, but it dones't add much depth. The highlights on the dresses are there, they're just a bit subtle in the pictures. For the dresses I do a basecoat, wash, redo the basecoat color, then I have three layers/highlights. Seamus and his little buddy have one or two highlights to go on their cloths, and then all the accessories to paint. Hopefully by next weekend they'll be done. Thanks all!
  5. Thanks! I agree, Armour, the skin is somewaht flat, but I think it looks flatter from the pictures. I need to work on a better photobooth. The skin starts with a 1:1 of P3 Ryn Flesh and P3 Underbelly Blue. As it's highlighted, I keep a bit of the blue in there and add more flesh tone and then P3 Morrow White. It turns out that it is a bit more fleshy color in the shade areas and quite grey for the highlights. I may have over-highlighted as well, washing out the skin a bit. Thanks for the comments and suggestions. Seamus and his little buddy both have the starts of some dark blue and dark brown suits.
  6. Hi all, I'm just starting to get into Malifaux and have played about a half-dozen games with Seamus's crew as the core. So far I've done the women of the crew and am currently working on Seamus and the Copycat Killer. Also assembled and in line is a Bete Noir, Nurse, Canine Remains, and the Hanged. I've used the flagstone bases from Secret Weapon Miniatures for my Ressurectionists. The crew so far ... Madame Sybelle Rotten Bell in green dress Rotten Belle in yellow dress Rotten Belle in pink dress I would love any comments or critiques. Thanks and hopefully more soon... -A
