There's a vague possibility that there are lots of DBx-based historical miniatures/Malifaux crossover gamers on this forum, but for those of you who aren't in that (probably small) demographic, I've posted a match report from my first ever game of Malifaux on my website
http://www.madaxeman.com/reports/Malifaux_2014_1.php
The game was an over-ambitious Mei Feng vs Sonia Criid 50 SS attempt, that we managed to get through in about 5 hours, which is not too bad given neither of us had ever played before - some of the combos were rather complex.
The report features a washup from Mei herself, and also critical analysis from Steampunk Hannibal.
Hope you all enjoy it - there may be more... !

My first foray into Malifaux involves far too many figures being bought, based and painted before I actually even try the game...
I "might" add some static grass (and then drybrush it burnt to a crisp!) and some bits of railway to the bases, but I'm not sure it's really needed.
Full details of how they were done are on Madaxeman.com

To be honest it felt like it had a lot less "luck" than most games I've played before - the card mechanic generally, cheating fate and the fact you need such a huge swing in combat results to achieve anything other than at least a (-) damage flip or worse meant it played out accoring to the choices we both made rather than 'luck' per se.
There is a loooot of stuff to learn about what your opponents cards and models can do though. We started with a run-through of all our models and cards, which took some time but was very useful in that it cut out a lot of potential "WTF??" moments. We were really picking up the pace towards the end as well, which was encouraging, and starting to see the synergies between the models.
i probably need to go back and revisit the report and add in some "lessons learned" at some stage... once I work out what they were!
