  1. You're right, thanks for the article. The direct spotlight makes the model too chiselled and gives to many reflections, as you noticed. I'll need some more lights to get a soft diffuse light going - I'll see what I can do.
  2. Todays baby: Waldgeist. Usually I dont like metal minis, but the picture on the M2e stat cards for the waldgeists are not my pair of shoes, so I decided to grab the old models while they're still around.. Also tried a darker back ground... maybe still to much light.
  3. That was what I initially wanted to propose But then I thought the blue hoses take the focus from the eyes..
  4. thank you all very much @dmeep: Thank you for the tip, appreciated, I thought it was the lamp I used. I'll try that when I get home and hopefully have an update on those two soon.
  5. I love your carver! I read in your article that you used GWs "Blood for the Blood God" for the gore on the blade - how did you do the blood strands (sorry, don't know how you call that in english)?
  6. If you want to spend some time on the basing, it can be worth to go for a mid-takeoff or mid-landing pose. These can look really dynamic and original and you get to hide any holding pins/wires in the environment. For lack of a better image, something like so.
  7. I don't think black does pop that much on silver, though I could be wrong. I personally would go for a full red with a dark wash and a white-ish highlight (think ripe red cherry). Maybe base it on the red on the shield to tie things up? Looking forward to the finished guy!
  8. Well, I thought I'd start a thread here, too, to keep me motivated on the painting. Sadly there not alot of players (yet) around these parts, so hopefully posting some minis will give me my fix I'm open for feedback, as I dont have years of painting experience and like to expand on it. The photos might get better, too, once I figure it all out. So here we go: These are the Sorrows I finished a week ago Here I tried my violet Nephilim color scheme on the Cherub and Barbaros haven't figured out the thumbnail thing yet.. :/
  9. Also, for what point level? - You're at 45 points, 49 if you swap the Poltergeist for Candy... That's without any upgrades or extra cache yet. I'm assuming 50, at which point I'd expect your opponent to almost always outactivate you, at least in the early turns.
  10. What upgrades would you use on Barbaros and Widow Weaver? I like Nephilim Gladius on Barbaros. Fears given form is great, but I think it's too dangerous to use around Sorrows... If they ever end up in range they're basically dead. On that note: How many sorrows do you feel are "mandatory" to run in a pandora crew?
  11. I'll give it a try then. Haven't used widow weaver so far. I think I will need a few games with her to get to grips with her.
  12. Thanks for the responses. Glad we did it right then.
  13. Hi there I was experimenting a bit with Barbaros lately and I started to like him quite alot. I usually use him to harass enemy models in ongoing combats. That is, I use challenge while in range of enemy models locked into combat with my models (apart from the usual push stuff). So for every attack they want to make against the model their in combat with, they have to first pass a Wp duel. This helps draining the opponents hand plus seems to add a bit of survivability to some of my dudes. Now since it's a Wp duel, I thought it might be good to try him with Pandora. Has anybody tried this? Is he too expensive for the little synergie? - I'm not too big on Candy yet.. :-P
  14. hi there We were wondering in our last game whether there is such a thing as a minimum push or move distance. Suppose I have Barbaros on one side of an enemy model and a Terror Tot on the other side. The Terror Tot is less than half an inch away from the enemy model. Now Barbaros uses his Macahuitl, hits the enemy model and gets to push it up to 4 inches. Now I'd want to move the enemy a little, to get the Tot pouncing, but not into base contact, since then I would not be able to push the enemy again with the second attack or a cyclone crash for more pouncing action. Pushing the model a tenth of an inch seems kind of nit-picky, since I generally feel the whole measuring is a bit of a give and take. Is there a rule that covers this? How do you handle this? Thanks
