  1. Oh no. I apologise, I wasn't clear. My issue isn't that I dislike social pursuits, my issue is that this one looks like it's going to be All About Favors. The trading of and creation of social obligations, with mechanical abilities for same. The problem, in my opinion, then is that if you have mechanics or abilities in the game that allow for the creation of favors, those characters without those abilities are now incapable of - or at least severely disadvantaged in - trading favors for favors.

As soon as you create a rule for something that was just fluff or flavor before, it greatly increases the difficulty of don't that thing for someone who isn't built to use the new rule. See also: Feats in D&D.

Hello everyone. I still don't know the rules inside and out but I wanted my tinkerer to make some armor for one or maybe two characters in our group and my question was regarding the amount of time it takes. I understand the rest of the process but was wondering if I missed a table with suggested times for such tasks or a quick rule like 2 weeks per skill level requirement.

Aside from crafting a construct (which explicitly takes one day), other uses of the Crafting skills are just assumed to take place during downtime. Don't worry admit it too much, basically.

You can certainly tell your players "just ignore that, you're all Witch Hunters" without breaking anything.

The intent of the book is to promote more "mixed division" groups, though, similar to how Into the Bayou promoted groups of Gremlins that hailed from different families.

Sure, I get that. But there's a much bigger difference between a witch Hunter and a Guild guard than there is between bayou gremlin 1 and bayou gremlin 2.

    I'm not against random.
    Ram - Guild Guard
    Crow - Marshall's
    Tome - Witch Hunters
    Mask - Monster Hunters
Red Joker - Pick one two.
Black - Infiltrator for a different factions.

I'm kinda against it because sometimes you want a single unit group where everybody works for the Witch Hunters.

    Ah, gotcha.

Well, no worries; Above the Law has a stupid amount of information about Malifaux City, the Guild, and the Special Divisions. Characters created using the Ram's Head Tarot start the game as Guild employees belonging to one of the various special divisions. There's plenty of room in the Guild for all sorts of characters, and the Death Marshals are comprised of more than just our favorite coffin-wielding half-zombie dudes.

Please find a way to make special division selection non-random. I'm begging ya.

Would this also work for players who would like to dedicate themselves to bows or thrown weapons?

It doesn't sound like it from the description (it specifically mentioned long arms but ALSO mentions canons so maybe?) But if not, it sounds like it would be easy to reskin.

Most of the conditions can be found starting on pg. 306. in the Core book.

Prone is a callout box on pg. 294 under movement actions: A character who is Prone gains :+fate to her Defense flips against Projectile :ranged attacks but suffers :-fate to her Defense flips against Melee :melee Attacks.

Yeah, most. But not the one we looked for for a few minutes during a fight. Eventually we ruled (semi-correctly) that it gave a positive flip to hit the character in Melee and cost an action to stand back up. But still. This would be a fantastic thing to have on the FM Screen.

  8. So in our game last night, one character was knocked prone. Nobody was able to find the rule effects of this status in the core book or on the FM Screen. Does anyone have a compiled list of all the effects? Like prone, burning, poisoned and so on? I would love a rule sheet but a dang index would be awesome at this point.

  9. Does anyone know of a place to purchase the Streets of Malifaux or the Buildings set. Please let me know as I'd be willing to work with anyone who can get a hold of these sets

I think my FLGS still has Streets available. I've yet to have seen Buildings though.
