  1. I'm going to be participating in the Enforcer Brawl at BonesCon, and I have a few ideas for models I own that I'd like to play. But I thought it'd be interesting to canvas opinions for what the current state of play is for the best model to bring?

I figure there are a number of boxes you want to tick if possible:

    1) Survivable. Ways to avoid the big melee beaters (decent ranged damage, Manipulative, no charge auras, Horror Duels, handing out Slow/Paralysis, etc), and/or defensive tech like Hard to Wound/Kill, Armor, etc.

    2) Hitting hard. Three min damage and/or a decent moderate/severe damage with easy ways to get :+fate on damage flips.

    3) Mobility and threat range. You want to be able to avoid the battles you don't want to fight, and initiate the battles you do want to fight.

    4) Ideally, more than 2 AP (or pseudo-AP) per turn, things like Swift, Nimble, ... Expert or even Rapid Fire and Reactivate.

    5) Ways to mitigate other models defensive tech - Immunity to Horror/Willpower Duels, ignoring damage reduction and/or Hard to Wound/Kill, resistance to shooting, etc.

Stuff that doesn't seem so important:
    1) Summoning (just doesn't work).

    2) Blasts or incidental damage, as unless you can isolate or kill a model, you don't really want to be softening it up for the other players.

    3) Offensive conditions, as again you don't want to be softening up models for other players, or have it die at the end of turn from condition damage.

    4) Marker creation and manipulation (scheme, scrap, corpse) all have little or no use in a brawl.

And the things I'm not so sure about:

    1) Burying? I'm not really sure about this one. Technically it's a one-shot kill, because most players will choose to just sac the buried model, but if they don't... it's kind of a wasted ability and worse you may end up unburying them some time/place that is unfortunate.

    2) Card manipulation? You have a hand of 4 cards, which should be plenty for a single model... but then again, having the right card at the right time could be crucial.

I'm mainly looking at Outcasts, and there are some obviously good candidates - Killjoy, Strongarm Suit, Lazarus, the 4 Riders (well, at least the Hooded and Dead... probably not Mechanical and not sure about Pale), Izamu. And some I'm not so sure about Ashes & Dust (accurate, high damage, good defences... but no summoning... so?), Lone Swordsman (again, not so sure about this guy... because you'd basically be giving up -3 points every turn, so you have to make sure you're scoring well), Mr Graves (ignores a lot of defensive stuff, and has good defences and offensive output... but maybe too fragile?), or even some really left field stuff like Midnight Stalker (very good defences, and the ability to "snipe" damaged enemies) or a Freikorps Trapper (a lot of mobility and long range attacks, again ability to snipe enemies).

Keen to hear general thoughts, thoughts on the models above, and likely models I'll see from opponents, and also which upgrades are considered good?

About adding stuff - will we get the chance to change payment information when we confirm final additions and pay shipping? I used a credit card for the initial pledge, but I'd prefer to use paypal for the final amount.

I think that once they close it, Backerkit will charge whatever card is on file without further confirmations. However, typically project creators give fair warning before they do this for that reason.

Also, Backerkit will only charge whatever you have locked in, so for that reason with this project *everyone* will need to go back in and add on shipping, as no-one is currently being charged for that. Backerkit can't just charge you an arbitrary amount for shipping that you haven't previously seen and agreed to.

As a collateral damage, I'll have to buy the Horomatangi to my order which takes me to my question: is there any way to mention that I already have an order so it's all shipped together? Not only to save the shipping cost of the Horomatangi but also to make life easier to the people doing the shipping.

I don't quite understand what you're asking - this is all done in Backerkit, so the only way to "buy" a new model at this point is to add it to an existing order... it should be fairly straightforward if you use the email you would have been sent inviting you to Backerkit to access your order and update it, but if you have any questions I'll try to help.

  4. Absolutely. I'd much rather wait 3-6 months now and get a better quality product for it. I plan to be playing ToS for years (at least, the size of my investment in it says so), so a few months delay now is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Still, I'm mighty excited and would love to see something other than Friday "previews", which are pretty much just information that has been out there since the KS... maybe I'm just too excited about it. :)

  5. So both Minako Rei (Broken Promises) and Wanyudo (Under Quarantine - TtB) have already appeared in the fiction...

Katashiro - seem to be animated dolls (more puppets for Collodi possibly?) - probably the figures in the bottom right corner of the box.

Grave Golem and Mourners seem to be fairly straightforward...

So that just leaves Manos the Risen... have there been any hints about him in the fiction? Google doesn't turn up anything. On FB I think, Aaron responded positively to someone mentioning Manos: Hands of Fate, but that doesn't seem to be the name of a particular character...

  6. The latest update today is not good news... seems Wyrd are having real difficulties in producing the models unfortunately, and delivery is now scheduled for the May/June timeframe.

As I commented on the KS page, I'm happy to see the transparency, even if the news isn't good. It'd be great if Wyrd were to make a gesture like releasing the PDF of the rules, so those of us who weren't involved in playtesting can keep up the excitement and try out the game with proxies... :)

At the day of 10th of March at 10 o'clock, we will have a brief get together behind walls well guarded by the Guild. To be precise at a venue called Black Oil. You are all wholeheartedly welcomed.

This will be 50ss, three rounds, fixed Master tournament using GG2018. The expected end is at 19 hours.

No grey models or primed models can be used for tournament play. There will be a prize for the best-painted crew.

    Sign me up! :)

Would you be willing to sell the Teddy if a Lucius does not turn up?

However there are some other Malifaux LTD editions I'd consider trading it for... any of:

    Johanna (Johan)
    Miss Step (Howard Langston)
    Emeline Bellerose (Madame Sybelle)
    Dr. Dufresne (McMourning)
    Miss Anne Thrope (Wastrel) (2nd)
    Miss Terious (Death Marshal) (2nd)
    Miss Deed (Taelor)
  9. I can't recall exactly sorry... I think it was Malifaux child or maybe Mechanical Rider? I couldn't see any differences between it and the errata'ed card, other than the missing errata date.

So it seems the answer is - from now on they should be marked, but some older cards might not be so it pays to check if you have a model you know has been changed?

  10. I understand the cards with errata downloadable from the Wyrd website and orderable from WGV have a card version/errata date printed on them to allow for easy identification.

Is the same thing true of the cards which come packaged with models? I ask because I was looking at a card which came with a model recently and couldn't see any obvious difference from the errata'ed version, but it didn't have the version/date mark on it...
