since it's a totem you only get 1 at a time

The RB says: A Crew may only hire one model with the Totem characteristic.

It's only the Rare 1 characteristic which stops you summoning more, normally. Not in this case, though.

As to the initial question about Mortimer: I think he's worth it. 3 Zombies turn 1 is powerful to get the engine started, and when I researched Nico, I didn't really find any other good carriers of Corpse Bloat. Archie was somebody I considered, but really too expensive.

And I like Mortimer for the other stuff he brings as well: No interacts for the opponent, speeding up your Undead, and his attack isn't too bad.

  2. Interesting concept. Will have to try that sometime, as I love that 'zombie wave' feeling.

Why does Asura need MLH? Wouldn't she use up the Quarantine Marker that gets placed every round right away? MLH would only allow her to 'save' up a marker, and then use two in the same turn, no?

    Or am I missing something?

@Aaron Hi Aaron, who do we need to talk to to have this post pinned?

Judging from past experience (Dreamer tactica), you'll have to ask over and over again. And then some more ...

And in a couple of months, it might get pinned. ;)

  4. How about using a Night Terror and Datsue Ba for the 3 Chi (so a total of 5 beginning of T2)?

You still need the Severe for the Night Terror, but pointswise, it's much cheaper than going for 2 Goryo/Goryo & Datsue Ba.

And you'll possibly even have a 'spare' Seishin, if Datsue Ba has Spirit Beacon, too.

As someone who isn't a fan of just stowing a TCW in every list unless I have a specific plan with its upgrade swapping I don't like how I'll have to take one whenever I take this upgrade at the cost of far more focused models. Especially since this upgrade is only 1 SS, meaning you'll have to keep an extra stone just for swapping.

I assume you're talking about swapping out Cheating Bastard for Rising Sun? If so, I don't think that'll work, since you need to have Rising Sun on Laynch the moment Huggy dies, otherwise he's gone for good.

  6. With 2 Goryo, a Clockwork Trap, the Shadow Emissary and Chiaki, you can actually get 6 Chi beginning of T2. That means, you can lay into people with Ca 7, Casting Expert and possibly Fast, if you manage to set that up again.

If really wanted to splurge, you could use the Charm Warder instead of the Trap, get Disguised also, and then, to top it off, get Ancient Protection, too. :D

We're getting close to those old Kung Fu movies, now ... ^^

As long as you use his new upgrade (and why wouldn't you?)  to attach Blood Ascendant at the start of his activation you do benefit from Casting Expert T2. Beginning of Activation abilities happen before you generate AP for the turn.

Ah. Was getting confused with trading it away T2. My bad, you're right ...

Turn 1 might be overkill, as it doesn't help then, but trying to get enough Chi to grab it start of T2 is quite good. Not as easy as it sounds though unless your enemy kills off some chaff turn 1 (good use of Seishin if you got 'em).

You need to get BA T1 if you want to profit from Casting Expert T2.

And you don't need any help from your opponent to harvest 4 Chi T1 (see other thread).
