I just started reading the rules to the game and it says you play on a 3x3 battlfield... Does it actually have to be 3x3? Could you play on a longer/wider field? Something to like being in a canyon or cave? Is it written in the rules you can and I just haven't read far enough yet?

Hello, I'm Trav, a Child of December. I'm new to these type of mini games, but really can't wait to join in. I love Monsters and Terrain so I can't wait to see how well some of the landscape I've already built will work with new stuff I want to build.
