The Little Lass is coming up to Kettering station to catch a lift east with me - you're more than welcome to do the same if it makes life easier.

That would be awesome Ben - thanks :) Let me know what time I need to be there on friday and I'll be on it like a car bonnet

Since the flip is only 2/3/4, is that even a worthwhile use of the toolkit?   Debt seems like a better option for cheaper.

No you do both so it's 3/4/5 of repeating lovelyness with straight flips on average

  3. Just to touch upon the 'boring' and 'not tournament viable' points people are raising....

The Guild with a big chunk of their masters (Lady J, Perdita, Sonnia, Hoffman) are a 'question faction'.  Can you cope with my dmg? Can you cope with my defensive skew (Perdita's stats with Franc, Sonnia's walls, Hoffman's armoured ball)?   The issue with this is that most 'better' players are having to handle parts of this in other factions already, and are going to focus on using the same tactics.  Personally, I think you need to really hone these lists to stand a chance of breaking through this.  I take my hat off to people who do.  Most of these I think can be fairly described as 'easy to learn but hard to master'.  The one which sticks out for me is Hoff due to his ability to really drive his crew forward without dmg, but if you can answer his question and remove his models, he loses potency quickly.

The other side (guffaw) of masters have quite a bit of subtlety and flexibility in their Guild incarnations (McMourning, McCabe, Nellie, and now Lucius).  They don't have obvious strengths, but what they are really good at is boosting the synergies between guild models, who have quite a few buffs to hand out to each other, and most of the time decent minimum damage and good attack statistics.  Hence your cards are spent in defense or driving crucial tactical actions, rather than winning duels as much.  These masters personally can return 'better' results quicker, but do need a bit more focus to avoid being blasted off the table.

Hence in short I think it takes quite a bit of effort to think through and discover how you 'answer' problems in Guild, especially when the guns simply won't work.  It also doesn't help that a big chunk of the latter masters can be played in other factions where they have more clearly defined 'strengths'.

I need to assemble Hoffman. Ryle with this and the auto rams upgrade simply must be fun for everyone involved, especially if facing bayou gremlin spam or something similar :D

trust me, it is.  Especially with sharpen from the mobile tool kit making a good chunk of those flips straights

  5. To me the changes open up many options for later waves of models. It's a really good game design point bringing stuff back within the confines of the game. Also trying to explain el mayor or hold this to new players was well... pretty silly.

as I said early in this thread/year, guild have so many ways of dealing good minimum dmg, I always look to the masters who can do more than kill. Mainly for me Nellie, Hoffman and McCabe, and I am really excited to get into Lucius more now I a can use more than minions. I love Perdita fluff wise, but people can always see her coming.

  6. So... Queeg is priced like an enforcer, has some sweet movement and debuffing tricks, in a faction which has few which can do the same, mainly because most of the other henchmen (Bar Dade) are beaty to da face...

And people are complaining he does not beat face...?

    ...?

  7. Hi,

    I'm a Henchman I am....honest it's true!

Just to say if you are looking for a demo then I am likely to be at one of the following places each Sunday.

    Tanelorn, Leytonstone - http://www.tanelornwgc.org

Essex Legion, Horn church - https://www.facebook.com/groups/940477409341843/1180744815315100/?notif_t=group_activity&notif_id=1473533482657050

Let me know if you would like a demo and we can take it from there.

    Thanks, Matt

  8. +1 for Gamin getting the 'slow' role under OSA.

My usual Arcane Assist targets are Metal Gamin, Mobile Tool Kit, and then Double Soulstone Miners.  That's usually my crew with Ryle and Brutal Emissary. (and some other upgrades and stuff)

I love Soulstone miners as soon as things get schemy.  Saying that, Wardens and Hunters are properly legit.  My main thinking process is which one of those three I am bring along these days, but my 'comfort zone' is defo Miners.

I want to believe you but that name tells me not to... Against some crews that WP buff is just insane so there is that.

    Lol, there is that ;)

Not saying all of the time, but I have used Queeg quite a bit with Hoff, alongside Johan(na) and then a couple of sanctioned spell casters. Johanna as condition removal while getting positives as Hoff and Ryle are MSU is to me worth 7pts, and then Sanctioned Spellcasters can stop the Hoffball being pulled apart.

They are pretty much the only non-constructs I consider with Hoff when building crews.

  10. Personally I rarely take Franc out of Perdita. She is one of my main masters I play with, but I rarely take her to a competitive game.

i think more Guild players need to look at the crew for dmg and then the master to add something extra. Step back Perdita, Sonnia and Lady J (as much as I love playing them) step forward McMourning, McCabe and Hoffman. So it's either Double Mc or Science Bro's for the win... Until my Nellie box gets here :)

  11. I think it would also be good on models which you are in melee with. Essentially an additional 2 dmg a turn which the majority of models cannot interact to get rid of?

saying that, humiliation, then push them and make them slow is essentially going to make it hard for that model to do anything anyway without condition removal?

  12. Yep a Nellie is a coming ;)

saying that, I think there is a US/UK split in the type of lists they like. I think the US seem to prefer synergistic lists where every model has there place - hence guild has a lot of this to help create their alpha strike . UK has more of an enthasis on getting specialist models to play there role in concert, without specifically working together. Hence factions with more 'skew' models are favoured like Neverborn/Outcasts.

i think also in any other game Guild would be pretty broken with there ranged alpha strike. The joy of mofo is that with the scheming and board control this is cancelled out quite a bit. It's one of the main reasons I love the game as a Guild only player

  13. Yeah I was thinking about torakage or ronin to go with her. Great until you add that soulstone onto them.

pushing and slow is bound to frustrate enemies with incite thrown into the mix as well. It certainly allows the rest of the crew to get on as you disrupt theirs. Nice change up
