  1. I am sure we will see more stuff with the 5 rivers down the road. Pretty sure a few of the staff members are L5R fans (we talked about favorite clans in the chat once). Plus, Shenlong shares an uncanny resemblance to a certain member of the Dragon Clan:

  2. Well, Dr. Grimwell himself is just a pretty straight forward beater without any particular synergies. Put him wherever you want an extra beater really. Almost all of the NB masters like beaters, so which ever one you like the play style of best. Keep in mind, since you are hiring him outside of Guild as a merc, you must pay an extra point for him.

Keep in mind a new NB master is coming out in 2 weeks at Gencon for early release: http://www.wyrd-games.net/titania

  3. Our Through the Breach adventure has ended. Thanks to those who participated. Now its time to move back to the table. Our next 4 week long league will kick off next month, August 10th. Details are as follows.

    FORMAT:

    • 50SS
    • Fixed Faction
    • Fixed Master (This is mostly to accommodate a couple of new players that have begun playing in the past couple weeks. Want to ease them into things first. That being said, I will allow people a one time switch to the Wave 4 master of their faction if they have arrived and are assembled by leagues end.)

    ENTRY FEE:

The entry fee is completely voluntary and optional. If you chose to pay in, it will be $5. Choosing to pay the entrance fee earns you and extra ticket for the raffle (see prizes). If enough people do pay in, the prize pool can be expanded.

    LOCATION:

    •
    • Coliseum of Comics
    • 2511 Old Vineland Road
    • Kissimmee, FL. 34746
    • 407-870-5322

    DATES and TIMES:

    • Week 1 August 10th
    • Week 2 August 24th
    • Week 3 August 31st
    • Week 4 September 7th

*You may show up at anytime after 1PM, up until closing time, to get your games in.*

    SCORING:

Players total score will be awarded points based on both mission and hobby points.

Mission points will be earned from each of the 4 games you play. A win will be worth 3 points. A loss or draw will be worth 2 points.

Hobby points will be earned via painting Malifaux models during the weeks of the league (already painted models do not count). Each model that you paint will award you points based on its size.

    • 30mmbase models are worth 1pt
    • 40mmbase models are worth 2pt
    • 50mmbase models are worth 3pt

    PRIZES:

At the end of the league, there will be a raffle to hand out prizes. The number of prizes given out will be determined by both the number of players, as well as those who chose to pay the optional buy in. Tickets for the raffle can be earned in three ways:

    • Playing all four games.
    • Paying the optional entrance fee.
    • Having the highest total score at the end of the league.

I hope to see you there.

PS: We also run demos for those who know someone interested, or are interested themselves. Details can be found in this thread:

What happen to the TTB Nythera model? We just forgot about him? Also, a handful of those models come out at the end of the month, why wait extra weeks to get them when they will be in stores before the event even starts? I guess to pad a $100 sale. Over all, nice to see all the Shifting Loyalties coming out. Shocked to so see Wyrd drop their load on the new masters, did not think that would happen.

Ya, I wonder if they have been delayed to August, which would be weird for the Jorogumu since the July promotion revolves around them (they have not shown up at my lLGS despite preorder anyway). The oddest though is Jaakuna, who released last month.

As for my order, looking at Oni crew, Shadow Emissary, and Ripples book atm.

    Shenlong -- 5ss

     +Words On The River - 1ss

    Sensei Yu - 9ss

     +Promising Disciple - 2ss

    Ten Thunders Brother - 5ss

    Ten Thunders Brother - 5ss

    The Illuminated - 7ss

    The Lone Swordsman - 8ss

     +Recalled Training - 1ss

Remember, if you don't spend 2 SS to start with a Style on Shenlong, you don't have access to any of them during the game. His 0 to switch does not work if you don't have one to drop.

  7. Samurai are for spread damage, Snipers are for pinpoint long range damage. Both are really good in their own right. The exception is in a Shenlong crew where Snipers become silly bonkers.

Also wanted to add that Lone Swordsman is hilarious with Deliver a Message. Walk up to enemy master late or end turn. Pop "You Shall Not See Another Sunrise". Reactivate Lone Swordsman and use (2) Interact to deliver message. Score 2-3 points. Sacrifice Lone Swordsman.

  8. Not owning Pandora, I would probably pick Lynch and go with Assassinate and Protect Territory.

    Hungering Darkness is a given.

    1 Illuminated

    1 Beckoner

    Teddy

    Mr. Graves

    Doppelganger

At that point you have 10 stones left to play with. Another Illuminated, a couple Depleted, some upgrades (expert cheater, endless hunger, woke up with a hand, addict, and retributions eye being my favorites).

Gremlins tend to have terrible WP. HD, Illuminated, and Teddy are all terrifying. Beckoner, Lynch, and HD have attacks that target WP. Graves lets you catapult things down field quickly via Show ya the Door. Doppelganger lets you get extra of whatever you need at the time and the ability to cheat initiative. I would prioritize a blitz on certain targets (Master for assassinate, pigapult if its present), and try to drop a couple markers for protect territory late game.

  9. Going to agree with Kadeton. The summoning on Kirai is nice, but its really just a bonus. She is certainly no Nicodem. Seishin, Swirl Spirits, and her ranged attack are far more valuable imo. I usually don't have a problem separating Lost Love from Kirai. As a 30mm model, he is easy enough to shield, and can teleport away in an emergency. I have had some luck with Toshiro with Kirai. She tends to be minion heavy, and he gives you something to do with those corpse and scrap markers. Chiaki can also be an all around useful model, especially against certain other masters. I also enjoy bringing Ashigaru from time to time. Brace is just such a useful ability.

No lie. But I would like an, ahem, personal word with whoever decided that the front of Dr. Grimwell's head needed to be a separate piece. A whole head I can understand, but a face?

And he is far from the only model like that. There are quite a few that have separate faces. TT Archers heads are 4 pieces. Yan Lo's beard is a separate piece.

  11. Neutralize might give your opponent an east 2 points against Leveticus.

Make Them Suffer gives them a guaranteed 3 points against The Crossroads Seven.

Yan Lo is pretty bad at scheme marker and location based objectives.

Assassinate is probably not worth the time and effort with or against Collette.

Its just a simple fact that not all models are good in all missions. This is why you build your crews after.

As for the Cache, even post cuddle, I think he is strong enough to justify Cache 1 along with the likes of Lynch and Hammy. As I stated before, his hiring abilities alone are completely bonkers and every undead and construct model in the game going forward has to take Levi (and by extension every other non-master Outcast, and cross faction constructs and undead) into account.

I feel like if you see a Master that can teleport almost anywhere on the board every turn and the only thing you can think to do with him is "kill the biggest thing," that's on you and your creativity. Killing stuff is pretty awesome and valuable, but it's silly to say that free placement effects with near unlimited range don't have a wide variety of potential applications.

Well, there is that and having the single largest unit pool to pick from in the game by miles.

Will the pre-release models available at GenCon be available on the website as well? If I'm not wrong it happened in the past...

Wyrd always puts up everything they sell at gencon (including prerelease stuff) up on the web store as well until the event is over (or inventory runs out).

Yeah, we're doing more background stuff.

$40 is the correct price for the Emissaries.

So Emissaries are cheaper and Jorogumo are more expensive ($40 in newsletter, $35 in upcoming). Pure TT players break even. Those who play multiple factions or just want multiple Emissaries save a bit.

I assume this question already came up a few times, I apologize, but I'm not really up2date currently ...

Has there already been a release date for "The Other Side"?

Also: as a non-US citizen, will there be any major events or conventions in the near future in the US, where we can assume that a spoiler about the game could be revealed?

    Thanks, cheers ;)

Gencon is coming up in August and I am pretty sure that's the biggest gaming con in the US. Wyrd first has done early releases of all M2E books (including the core rulebook) at Gencon. They also released the first The Other Side teaser at Gencon last year. At the very least the Wave 4 book should be there, and they might have these TOS prototypes on display with a few more answers about the game. There will definitely be Malifaux prereleases, so look forward to that at least :) .

They're on large bases, aren't they?  That box is going to be pricey.  And at nine points a pop, who's going to field three at a time?

Box is only $35 according to the upcoming page. Not bad at all for 3x 50mm models and 27 ss.

I don't know is anyone will actively pay points for all 3 of them, but quite a few people are guessing that the new TT master will be able to summon Oni. If that turns out to be true, then it could be possible to see 3 on the table.
