  1. Got a parcel on Xmas Eve - perfect timing!

The forum won't let me upload the photo I just took for some strange reason, but in the parcel I was very pleased to find Izamu and Abuela!

Somebody must have let slip to Santa that I have a Yan Lo box on order elsewhere, because that's ideal! And Abuela being the only Ortega I don't yet have.... good work Santa!

    Thanks, and Happy Xmas!

    Mike

I'm glad you got it! I was getting nervous since I ordered it at the very beginning of the exchange. I'm also glad you liked the selection for I just guessed and hoped you would like it/didn't have it already.

  2. I am in an escalation league currently and I have chosen Misaki's crew. For the first couple weeks I had Yamaziko as my leader and then switched it to Ototo being my leader.

I can say in my opinion Yamaziko is worth her cost. I'm guessing you wont be using her as a leader since you will have Misaki, but when she was the Leader, a 6 soulstone cache was pretty good. I would be able to damage prevent on Ototo so I would be able to keep him where I wanted him to stay at a healthy enraged. As for her abilities yes the are heavy on things relating to Wp which could be detrimental, however it can benefit when in the situation. I haven't been able to use her in combat against a Master, but getting a positive flip on her attacks against them couldn't hurt. On top of that her attack alone is impressive. A 3'' melee swing is pretty stellar when not many models have that kind of reach. Also with a built in Ram you can easily cause blast damage if you are surrounded by enemy models. Her 2 action can be pretty effective as well especially if: a) your opponent didn't announce schemes, and B) you have the opportunity to go first and use Yamaziko right off the bat. That will cause your opponent to lose up to 4 cards and a potential 5th card if they attempt to cheat and fail. Finally her 0 action is also impressive. It makes your opponent second guess whether or not it is worth to charge. Also it will make your opponent have to walk then attack, allowing only one attack instead of two. The only downside I would have with her would be her Df at 4, yeah it's not the greatest but you can get by, especially if you have the stones. One last thing I like about her is that she is nimble. That makes swings great, especially if you are doing marker based schemes such as Line in the Sand. Place a scheme marker walk 4" and then drop another marker and brace Yari. Boom you are set.

As for Ototo, I really like him. he's pretty solid as a model and even better when he is enraged. I have been able to take down models such as Snow Storm, Viktoria of Blood, Taelor, in almost one hit/activation every time. It can get real nasty when Ototo is enraged and he decides to flurry if you are going up against a tough model that has armor, hard to kill, etc. It makes your opponent honest and debate whether or not to attack him, because odds are after they attack he will be enraged and then the real fun begins. Also I have found that he is also very defensive, with hard to kill and a way to heal himself, he can easily stay above the hard to kill and remain enraged.

Overall they are both worth the stones. I have yet to use any upgrades on them and I still find them to be quite successful.

You also mentioned Oirans. I have found them useful being able to lure Ototo and getting him closer to the fight and since he and causing a distraction, while also pulling models, enemy or friendly where you need them to be. I have been able to relocate Yamaziko numerous of times away from danger and have her continue to drop scheme markers.

I hope this helped at all.

  3. Might be able to make it to that third Saturday thing. I work full time 3rd shift, so during the week and Sunday just don't work for me, sadly. I'll have to see what my schedule/finances look like in January.

Well let myself or Bruglyother know (He's our Henchman) and we can arrange something up. I hope to seeing you soon!

  4. Ha, the fluidity of timezones is in full force around here...

School loans. Ick. I don't need to worry about those for a few years, luckily...

Hey, because I'm curious, N1ck, are you a traveling gamer? I'm starting to work on planning my events for next year, would be cool to see some people from Rochester.

I myself would not mind traveling other places to play new people, (have never done it before) and you are somewhat close to Rochester, relatively 3-4 hours, it would be fun. If you did plan to come up here there is roughly 6-8 of us up here who play weekly as well.

  5. Just to be clear this is not one of those threads debating on why plastic models are good or bad, I am hoping someone would be able to answer this.

I have noticed that with the plastic models there are pieces that could have already been sculpted on to their body. For example I am currently assembling the Latigo crew and there are several instances where I will need to glue something that, in theory, could have been sculpted to the model. For example, Santiago and his belt buckle, Fransico and his frilly shirt, Papa Loco and his dynamite strapped to his leg, and Perdita's sidearm on her leg. I am not upset I do not mind assembling them, (it helps with learning how to assemble models properly) but just curious as to why this was. Was there reason to the madness or was it just not thought of?

  6. Hello everybody,

This period in the escalation/achievement league that I am participating in, had an achievement in which I have to link 4 games into one long battle report narrative. I figure I would keep it on the same thread and will add each part in a new comment within the thread.

This is my first attempt at doing a narrative so please bear with me. If you have any thoughts, concerns, or questions please feel free to ask.

One last note, in the narrative I assumed that I shouldn't kill off Unique models such as Ototo, Johan, Taelor, etc. so I have them "knocked out" or "fainted" just as a heads up. However the non-unique minions and what not well get the full force of the slaughter.:1_Happy_Puppet1:

    Now on with the story!

Ototo received a mission from Shenlong, Ototo’s attacking leader while Misaki was away for reasons unknown. Shenlong demanded to know why Viktoria and Taelor were so concerned about a few abandoned, ruined buildings in the middle of the woods. He ordered Ototo to take a small group and figure out what all the commotion was about.

Ototo called upon a Torakage, two Archers, and his companion, the Oiran.

The five of them snuck into the woods unnoticed and spotted a clearing up ahead. In the clearing, were the ruins that Shenlong had mentioned. There he spotted Viktoria and Taelor. They were accompanied by Johan and the Student. With the element of surprise still in effect, Ototo told his Archers to flank each side of the ruins to surround the Outcasts.post-15016-13911931975695_thumb.jpg

The Torakage slinked his way towards the ruins and continued to sneak around in order to get a closer view of what was so important. Realizing that it was Taelor, whom had whatever that interested Shenlong, was needed to be taken prisoner. He asked his trusted Oiran to walk into the middle of the ruins and wait there until the enemy spots. Sure enough this plan became successful when Johan and Taelor both stumbled across the baited Oiran. Before Ototo could approach Taelor, he heard one of his Archers call out saying he had spotted Viktoria and that she was hastily approaching his location. Fearing that the Archer would undoubtedly perish, he ran off towards the Archer hoping that his Oiran could fend for herself.post-15016-13911931974956_thumb.jpg By the time he got to the Archer, Viktoria was almost upon him. Ototo quickly ordered the Archer to let loose his arrows on her. The Archer, with deadly accuracy, struck Viktoria twice. While her main focus was on the Archer, Viktoria did not notice the Torakage charging her until the last second. Unfortunately that one second was all that Viktoria needed to dodge his oncoming blade. However she did not see the other blade coming, striking her hard and poisoning her with the tip of his blade. Near death, Viktoria gathered up what remaining strength she had left and swung at the Torakage with all her might. The blow caught the Torakage off guard for he didn’t have a chance to defend himself. The blow killed him instantly. Ototo, who saw the entire incident unfold, shrugged saying “Damn, good thing Torakage are expendable.” With renewed spirits, Viktoria fled into the woods.

Ototo planning on chasing Viktoria heard the Oiran’s screaming. Sensing danger, he ran into the ruins hoping to get to her in time. Meanwhile, with there no longer being an element of surprise, Taelor easily spotted the other Archer and quickly approached him. The Archer was clever and was able to run away from Taelor just in time. While fleeing Taelor, the Archer spotted Johan and fired an arrow at him. post-15016-13911931976413_thumb.jpgJohan seeing the arrow come at him, deflected it effortlessly with his Relic Hammer. Johan then charges the Archer, whom was able to leap out of the way just in the nick of time. With the commotion no longer focused around her, the Oiran quietly walked away. She spotted Ototo and whistled to get his attention. Noticing her, Ototo quickly approached her.

With the death of the Torakage, and the failed attacks on the Archers, Ototo had to think of a new plan. Ototo was caught off guard when Taelor charged him and swung at him. “Well that made things easier,” Ototo thought. Screw taking her to Shenlong for him to interrogate her. He wanted to get down to business himself and figure out what was going on. The new plan was now to knock her out, take care of the rest of the Outcasts, and then personally interrogate her. Taelor connected her hammer to Ototo’s face yet he didn’t flinch. He stood there a minute looking at her, and spit out the blood that gathered in his mouth, that made him angry. Ototo returned the favor by whacking Taelor with his beat stick. Ototo looked down at Taelor, who was getting back up from the hit, laughed at her and said “Oh come on now, it’s just a flesh wound.” Focusing and laughing at Taelor, Ototo didn’t see Johan’s hammer fall upon him. This made Ototo’s blood boil, he was very enraged at the pesky Outcasts. The Archer that was able to dodge Taelor earlier spotted her within the crowd. He took carful aim and released an arrow from his bow. The arrow found its target badly wounding Taelor.

Oiran was fearful that Ototo would die, the only thing she could think of being able to do was be in the middle of Ototo and the enemy. She confronted Taelor attempting to protect her man.post-15016-13911931977138_thumb.jpg

Unfortunately this left a clear shot for Johan. He took his Relic Hammer and beat the living snot out of Ototo. Barely breathing, and slowly getting back up from the beating he just received, he struggled to let out a chuckle and said “That’s it? It’s only a flesh wound.” He quickly turned to Taelor and delivered a devastating upper cut with his Tetsubo, instantly knocking her out. Johan seeing what just had happened couldn’t believe his eyes. Taking the opportunity for the distraction, Ototo swung his trusty Tetsubo at him. However the damage, how severe it was, did not knock him out like it did Taelor. Oiran seeing the chance to deliver the final shot approached Johan and shanked him. The concealed weapon was able to take to knock him out due to the fast acting poison on the blade.post-15016-13911931977857_thumb.jpg While everyone’s attention was focused on what was going on within the ruins, Viktoria charging out of the woods takes her sword and slashes through an Archer killing him instantly.

The other Archer seeing that his comrade has been slain, fires off arrows toward her. Each arrow grazing her, and was hardly doing any harm to her. Viktoria slowly approached Ototo and took a swipe at him; he was barely able to dodge the attack. Ototo was tapped on strength, he was overly exhausted. Seeing this, Viktoria whacked him with the butt of her sword knocking Ototo out cold. Realizing that their leader is now longer conscious, the Archer saw that the poop was gonna hit the fan, and was gonna hit quick.post-15016-13911931978769_thumb.jpg He confronted Viktoria, being a distraction in order to give the Oiran enough time to drag Ototo away from harm. The Oiran took Ototo into the woods, she turned back to see what would conspire only to see Viktoria approach the Archer with her sword at the ready…

As a reminder, there are still three more parts to this story. They will be posted at a later date. (Probably by the end of this weekend.)

  7. Once again here is another battle report, that I am doing so I can get an achievement in the escalation league I am in. This time it was a 15 soulstone game.

    My crew consisted of:

    Yamaziko (Leader)

Otototototototototo - Yamaziko's right hand man

    Oiran - Otototototototototototo's main squeeze

    My Opponent's crew:

    Candy (Leader)

    Iggy

    Sorrow

    Primordial 'Puke Snake" Magic

    post-15016-13911931845466_thumb.jpg

This Battle Report is brought to you by The X-Wing mini Y-Wing. (My friend Photobombed my opponent's crew when I was attempting to take a photo of it. Not really trying to promote X-Wings whatsoever.)

    post-15016-1391193184614_thumb.jpg

The strategy was Reckoning, therefore I led with Oiran who lured Otototototo, who then proceeded to move forward. Yamaziko moved behind the crowd and Braced Yari to protect everybody. Iggy gave Otototototo some burning, which would only anger him. The Sorrow was next to Otototototototototototo....etc. but as you can see he is not there, that is because he got smashed like whack-a-mole, close but no cigar Sorrow.

    post-15016-13911931846687_thumb.jpg

Meanwhile Candy decided to run to the side of the board and stay as far away from Yamaziko and company as possible. (Later found out that my opponent had chosen Entourage)

    post-15016-13911931847309_thumb.jpg

To remedy this I sent Oiran and Yamaziko after her. Unfortunately this planned backfired since Oiran got paralyzed and Yamaziko flipped a Black Joker and lost the attack duel.

    post-15016-13911931847835_thumb.jpg

Now that Ototototototo was left alone with Iggy, we all knew what time it was... HAMMER TIME!!! and bye bye Iggy, only before giving me a horrible burn.... next target... that puke snake looking thing over yonder there known as Primordial Magic.

    post-15016-13911931848311_thumb.jpg

Oh wait there he is.... and he soon went bye bye to an enrage mad man.

    post-15016-13911931848949_thumb.jpg

Yamaziko and Oiran tried one last time to take out Candy and yet again it failed miserably. That little she-devil was quite tricky to get rid of.

In the end I ended up losing 6-5, things I would have changed would have been if I would've known Candy would sneak her way around the board I would have split up my crew instead of going head on to Sorrow and Iggy.
