  1. you have it on the nose, run him as an anti scheme runners and do objectives such as power ritual/plant evidance

The problem is that his ss competes in many of my lists with francisco ( a must no matter the master) and 2x austrigners( autoinclude no matter the list)  so after spending 20 stones you have to look at strategy and schemes available to pick him into the crew.

I've yet to lose my Master when playing as Guild in 2E and I've never had Franco in my team so I find it hard to believe he is really THAT much of an autopick for so many others. His name keeps popping up on literally every "What to buy first/Where to go from here?" thread so... Does everyone else face opponents who beeline for their Master so hard the only answer is Franco? o.o

More on topic, the LM is a bucket load of fun. Reliable shootin' n' scootin' combined with good manoeuvrability has made him a decent (though thus far not GREAT) scheme runner. Need to do more testing to say anything more conclusive, but so far he seems like a solid piece. Plant Evidence has served him well.

  2. The Rare Limit is the only thing that keeps me from taking more than 4 :D

I had to read this twice before I was able to believe my eyes. Dgraz made a post without any ellipses! o_o

The doggies with Lucas McIndianaJones seem almost mandatory for any game where you need to run objectives near/in the enemy deployment zone. I'd go with at least Luna+2 in those situations, but the more the merrier, eh?

  3. Additional Note: McCabe himself also has to be careful of Delivery the Message as his mounted form has such a good walk that Lure is ideal for pulling him in so you can gain 3 VP right back.

All the more reason to have Sidir around with his upgrade, since he just laughs it off and can then be positioned in such a way that it'll stop further lures from dragging McCabe.

I'll have to actually try McCabe sometime soon for the first time (in 2e). This thread makes him seems like a lot of fun!

  4. My go-to heavy guy is, without a doubt, Ryle. As long as the opponent can't ignore Armor, Ryle is ridiculously tanky (and gives value to all those low Tomes you might have in your hand that would otherwise be useless) and can dish out the hurt both in melee and at range.

  5. I've considered running with Ryle  --- cuts my mobility down quite a bit.

You wot mate? My experience with Ryle is that he's damnably fast for a Guild model and his gun has a reasonable range to boot. Tough as nails, too, if enemy lacks armor piercing attacks. One or two turns of Socially Repressed and he's bound to be in a reasonable spot to "lay the dakka" as some would put it and heavens have mercy on anyone in melee with him... He punches HARD. =P

So yes, I highly recommend using Ryle in a Lucius crew; almost (but only almost) more so than good ol' Captain Tassels!

  6. Be aware that a smart Collodi player will bring you to the Death Ball, not smash it into your's using a Beckoner and quite possibly a pile of web markers to lower your WP.

More points in favor of Sonnia and Sidir, who both have ways of ruining the day for Beckoners and clumped-up crews.

  7. Just be sure to include 67% Wyrd parts in that conversion or you wont be able to use it in "Official" Gaining Grounds tournaments.

Not much of a tournament player myself (I don't even know if there are any official tournaments here in Finland) and if I were to participate I'd probably take either Guild or 10T. My Outcasts are for more casual kitchentable play, so I think I'll be fine even if I can't make my conversion "tournament legal". =P

But for those who are thinking of converting a Steam Trunk AND are tournament players, Omenbringer's advice is quite sound.

  8. Use Carrion Away to move a corpse marker, raise it as a Necropunk, Necropunk isn't Slow because Nicodem's creations give no ****s, Leap and Deliver a Message for easy, instant profit. The frustration of your foes will be immense, because there's bugger all that can be done to stop it.

Just one use of the Carrion Away that makes me grind my teeth in frustration so hard sparks fly out of the corner of my mouth =P

  9. Hodgepodge has been mentioned, but what about the other Effigies? Brutal at least seems to synergise well with Levi since Fear Not the Sword can give back hitpoints lost to Channel and extra cards never hurt. Arcane might be worthwhile if you are going to face a lot of Conditions, but the 0-action feels rather uninspiring for Levi. I suppose Arcane is useful for removing Slow from summons?

Carrion, Shadow and Mysterious don't look too terribly useful IMHO. Levi doesn't seem to be overtly worried about getting beaten down, so Shadow and Mysterious lose much of their appeal right there. Carrion offers some healing and strips immunities (and corpse removal) but a standard Levi crew doesn't -by my understanding- ride too heavily on Horror/Slow/Paralysis/Poison and for healing purposes there's always Brutal.

  10. It's basically this, Ca 8 is overkill and "almost always going to go through" territory, specially with a thematic master that can put a -2 penalty. Ca 6 with both suits is pretty damn good already.

Luckily there are multiple models across all the factions that can do some suit removal shenanigans. That and Laugh Off should, in theory, make things more tolerable, though I admit in a tournament setting that'd mean having to prepare a list to specifically counter this kind of issue which would be... obnoxious, I suppose.

  11. Stacking scheme markers also makes them quite vulnerable to things like Lucius' Legalesee and the Freikorps Specialist's Flammenwerfer as well as any other such ability that removes scheme markers in an AoE.

  12. Are there enough Stubborn and/or Laugh Off models available in any given faction with which to build some kind of a (viable) counter to Lure shenanigans? I don't know if this was discussed in the previous thread (10 pages is a lot more than I'm willing to comb through), but on paper these two special rules seem like something that might at least help against being Lured all over the place.

I now defer to the expertise of people who have more experience than I do.

  13. Claymore65 bascially nailed it on the head for me. The only thing I'd add is maybe Guild Riflemen, they are surprisingly efficient when groups close to each other however they work better with other crews. Lovely models though!

With a Witchling Handler the roflmen should be able to hand out Burning with the best of them. Adding Dashel to the mix would give even more synergy, but that'd get prohibitively expensive in no time flat, so probably not efficient.

Take with a bucket of salt, as this is purely tactical theory. I'll give it a shot (heh heh) at some point once my Guild Arsenal Box arrives and see how it works in practice.

  14. I just recently acquired the Lady J boxed set as well. Haven't played a game yet with her, though, but I'm looking forward to it. ...Just as soon as I get over the teeth-grinding frustration that was putting Lady J and the Death Marshals together. She is made from soooo many fiddly little pieces and gluing the DM standing on one foot on top of a coffin was just a bloody nightmare. The Death Marshals are also going to hog a lot of real estate in a standard foam tray. Supposing I can place them there without breaking them. Working with Wyrd's plastics has -much to my surprise- made me really appreciate the robustness of certain 28mm Heroic scale minis. [insert colorful cursing about Lady J's sword in particular right around here]

More on topic: as has been stated, the other starter boxes are a good source of additional models at a fair price. And as we all know, the larger your roster, the more options you have to cover different scenarios; especially in such situations where your Master falls short.
