  1. Thanks for the compliments. It's my goal to make them look as real as I can, glad to know I'm not failing. Some of those mold lines are bugging me but not enough to repaint. I wish I would have sanded down the illuminated's spike to more of a point too.

I didn't even think of red being the Guild's color. Too far into the crew to change it now.

  2. Thanks.

I wanted to be as realistic as I could and avoid being too matchy-matchy.

My thinking was that the Ashigaru and Izamu were the undead army with purple regimental colors and Yan was the detatched, manipulating necromancer.

The gray fabric on Yan and the Porter is treated with the same pale purple highlighting I did on the gray on the others. Other than the brown, all the other colors on Yan are on the skeletons; his hair is the same paint as the bones as is the Porter's fur dry brushing. I plan to do Chiaki quite colorful in green and pink, I put the green bracelet on Yan to pick up on that.

I will think about maybe painting the black bracelet purple but its my intention to have the "troops" purple and the the "command" more distinct. Red will be an element on all the ancestors.

  3. Hey guys. New to Malifaux. I tried to put together a 40k chaos army but its just too much. And space marines are boring to paint. After painting about a dozen models I switched to Malifaux.

Im just about done painting up a Yan Lo crew. Jakob Lynch is on the way.

My gf has a Lillith crew, we've played one game so far. I plan to get some more games in soon but I enjoy the hobby aspect for now.

I live near OBX, NC/ Norfolk, VA if anyone is looking for games.

  4. It sounds like you're working on you washes and highlighting. This is what I'm working on developing now myself. You might try to get greater variation between your darkest and lightest colors. Don't be afraid to work in different hues. I blend from dark gray to a pale purple on my gray clothing. I've seen people build up to yellow from black. Contrast is what makes it effective. Good luck.
