That sounds extraordinarily cool! Kind of like the Construct Council in Perdido Street Station or something!

My thoughts were something like a radical academic character who had become disillusioned with the corruption of the M&SU and the Guild and leads a ragtag group of rebels (probably with a cool freedom-fighter henchman) with no affiliation other than their own ideology. Inciting opponents minions to rebel against their master through powerful rhetoric, and inspiring their followers to fight for liberty and overthrow opressors. Or something...

    They are called Bards, :D

    And that would be awesome.

Having never played in 1.5, can you explain this to me? What was Leve like back then, and how did he play (all I know is he couldn't hire anything unless it was a construct or undead...)

Don't have my card handy, been quite some time now but.....

All of Leve's actions cost wounds, and at the end of turn he took one damage (and summoned a waif). Any model with 11wds was dead against Leve, remember, 1.5 soulstones added the flipped card to the total!! Anyway, you would do the actions in order to leave Leve on one wound, end of turn triggers he dies, gets a waif, sacs a different waif and is back. You also lost your whole hand and Leve didnt draw cards, it was all tied into dying, he refilled his hand.

Now if a cheeky opponent healed him, well he didnt die!!! So you had a master on one wd (could not do any actions except kill himself) and no cards in hand. Pretty much up the creek, no boat, no paddle.  So you always had a model that activated after Leve, just in case you needed to kill him. Sometimes even killing him because the activation cost just didnt get him on one.

Think I got it all. It was super fun.

To be honest, I think the Librarian gets way more mileage in a Leveticus list: heals for Levi, card tapping Aboms, Waifs, etc as needed, plus loadsa firepower you can pull people into via Levi hires (Belles, Doxy, etc), and you're generating draw via Tally to fuel consistent triggers (which in turn fuels more draw via Surge, or does horde slaying).

This post makes me a little sad. It shows how much Leve has changed since 1.5. Healing was the way to ruin a Leve player's day if they were not on the ball.

Oh well, options are still fun.

  4. Papa Loco...This is the guy for the job.  Depending on placements could nearly give "Hold This" to Laz first, then walk/torment push into range. Shoot Laz for 1 damage, laz then blasts of Papa 2 times. This plus papa's BOOM! should kill some shit. 3-11 damage possible on models within the 3 inch bubble.

It falls into the same basket as everything else though - setup is key. I personally think this one would be more achievable, and both models are very handy one their own.

Me and a friend discussed the possibility of hiring a Performer with Parker. The siren call is always nice, it's not that expensive (even as a merc) and it can possibly put a lot of:-fate:-fate on enemies from the scheme markers that the Bandits place. Also, my constant right-hand woman Hannah can copy both their push and the seduction. Could they be another way to utilize the hoard of enemy scheme markers that might cover the board when Parker takes to the field? :)

This is a really nice idea, even without Hannah. The card advantage that this could offer. Burn through control hand, or just suffer the consequences, which in an Outcast crew like this would be painful.

  6. Last night, my friend found that instead of hiring 6 rats to start and build some rat kings with a wretch, he just hires 3 stolen. They are half the points and then give him 6 rats. Then he just summons one stolen back a turn.

If he gets both Rat Kings out, which is not hard, It is 16pts for a 6 pt investment. It is also a fair few activations first turn, after that not so much.

    What are peoples thoughts?

  7. That guy that Joe and Adam had on Cheated Fates is an idiot... saying the Constructs are better than Undead.

    /quote]

So your playstyle/thoughts are the only correct way and anyone that days other wise is an idiot? I think not. You are argue that Nevropunks an Flesh Constructs are great undead models! They are still constructs, you are listing models that support his argument. Same with UoTM.

Please, someone is not an idiot for a different point of view!!!

On phone - spelling is retarded

  8. Oh by the way, what's this I've heard that Montresor would somehow be linked to a tree, of him being somesort of hanging tree or whatever? Anyone else heard anything like this?

You can use the Hanging Tree as a legal replacement model. But his actual model will be a man or a humanoid, well at least thats where the name came from.

  9. So, here is a 40ss list that I have had a fair bit of success with.

    Leve - 6ss cache

    - P o Iron

    -To the earth return

    -From Ash

    Alyce

    -Desolate Soul

    -from the Aether

    2 Waifs

    2 Aboms

one 4ss minion of choice. I like to take watchers, but whatever you like really.

    Large Arachnid

So the aboms will draw cards first, then the arachnid chops them up. you can easily get the 4 aboms between Alyce and Leve. Use some stones as your hand/deck will be thinned out a bit at the end. If you want you can use Vile Reclamation again 4 times on the aboms, but i normally walk them up. 2nd turn you can get a DE in their face if they have moved up enough. Alyce just shoots stuff and summons more aboms when the chance arrives, and Leve can start blasting from turn 2 or 3 and help the DE out. I usually will charge the Lrg Spider into a Abom turn to and chop it up, so there will be five of them after summons.

  10. Watchers are simy amazing. Oh I can't see you, now I can. Oh thats hard cover, so no plus flips :( oh well I'll fix that.

Also I have been looking to try an Arcane Effigy with Leve. Gives some condition hate, and gives Leve a way to increase his damage, or drop your opponents hand.

Mech Rider is great to start adding some annoying minions to help with strats or get metal gamin to Df6 a DE

Hunters are a solid strat model that can have a waif follow him around, has a harpoon like Ratty said and an push that 3" at end of turn.

  11. In it's current form the new generic upgrade "I pay better", works really nicely with the blasters, Flammenwerfer/Laz/Hannah, as the plus flip to damage generally lets you get a straight flip.

  12.

I would also have preferred to see a bit more crossover with other Factions, but I suspect that part of it is that Resser minions in general are really solid this edition, so they're a preferred pick where available (Levi tends to get more value out of Undead than Constructs, for example).

One thing I find interesting is that there's almost no crossover at all between Outcasts and Neverborn - is there any hiring potential other than Hamelin grabbing Candy and Kade?

I will disagree with you about the Leve part there. He can make some really cool construct list and there are so many to choose from. Also he replenishes his crew off scrap not corpse.

Leve has access to quite a few Neverborn models, as there are some constructs namely Teddy and Collodi's crew.

  13. It says "associated with their stats", that means the printed stat, as a card or a stone doesn't affect the models stats. It is clear (to me), but there is probably a reason for keeping it different.

Actually, Hannah's would stop corner cases like, " I meet X requirement, so I gain Y suit to my stat". Counter-spell would only stop the printed suit, no additional suits gain via said example. See Risky Ventures on Misaki.
