  1. A very good write-up. Somewhat coloured by opinions on which I cannot agree (eg. saying two Beckoners are a must is not correct in all Strategies/Schemes; neither is the presence of an Illuminated, sry if this was an interpretation) but as a whole, a very good entry on Dark Debts. I have struggled with my Lynch crew and this text will help. How about adding stuff on the models from "Strange Bedfellows", ie. Candy, Kade, the Stitched and Iggy? Just to keep in the models that Jacob can add to the crew regardless of faction. Just a thought.
  2. Hippodruid: yeah, I was thinking of Rafkin mainly, but also about Tuco. And, as I face Freicorps on a regular basis, from what I read the Freicorps armour, they get the Poison. Thanks for the help. i_was_like_you, thanks for clarifying that one. I was pretty sure it went like this but I had to be sure. Now my High Definition has a new friend: Desperate Mercenary.
  3. Just... lovely. Awesome work, dude. I'm so jealous of your painting skills. And also, loving how you used GW minis; I got a pile of them extra and now I know what to do with them. Thanks for the idea, hopefully you don't mind if I copy? (Don't have any use for VC with the pile of idiotism called FB 8th edition)
  4. It's good to hear that Coppelius has his uses in a Lynch crew. He's cool. And finally a real use for The Source. The crew needs imo more beatsticks so this works nicely. And remember, you can speed Coppelius up even more with "Bar's Closed".
  5. VeZuri: yeah, the game fell alittle with your infernal cards and alittle with my bad decisions. But the problem was also that my model choices are restricted and the crew is difficult. Still, never a dull moment. i_was_like_you, Kade and the Stitched are a good place to start. I have liked Candy and Kade for their fluff from my first game, I could use them now. And also Effigies, they are on my buy-list. Brutal and Arcane are my favorites and probably my choices. Neverborn have such good choices: Teddy, Tuco and Coppelius. I read a good topic about using Coppelius with Dark Debts, and luckily the two others are also getting good reviews. But can you make them perma-Brilliant with The Light Inside-You Are Mine-spell/trigger-combo without using ss?
  6. aaronm: I'm starting to think we had too little terrain. It seemed like enough and I used it wrongly. But still, next time getting more. Necrarch: that's just what happened. -.- Red Joker killed the Depleted and Beckoner fell just almost as easily. Like DaemonChild said, very unlikely. But that happens sometimes. Gotta use covers. DaemonChild: Tuco seems like an interesting option. And the model is just awesome. Gotta look into that. Yeah, I want to use Lynch as NB 'cause I like the models more, but 10T bro is an example of a 10T-model; I might learn to use him in 10T. And Stitched's probably my next buy. What about the Hooded Rider and Teddy?
  7. In theory, D-A-C, I think you're on the correct tracks. But remember the main reason one uses Graves: movement control, especially "Bar's Closed". You can use that spell and still Flurry. Also, it moves everything around, saving your own models and/or moving the opponent's. But yeah, Graves has the same problems as almost all the other Honeypotters: something is wrong/too pricy. I still like him and use him almost always.
  8. 1. About blasts: Poison affects all models under a blast marker, correct? But what about models who are immune to blast damage, eg. Freikorps. As the blast still hits them, do they get the poison counter(s)? 2. Is there something wrong with my Hungering Darkness-card or do you really need double Masks to trigger You Are Mine when casting The Light Inside on a model, ie. you need to use a Soulstone to have a model perma-Brilliant?
  9. Speaking of Mortimer, I assume from the rules text of Exhume that the spell can be cast oce per turn PER MODEL with the spell? Eg. I have Molly, who can copy the spell with Whispered Secred, and a Necrotic Engine. Can the Engine cast Exhume via Magical Extension? And while on the topic, let's say Molly has Whispered some spell to her. Can the Necrotic Engine cast Whispered Secret via Magical Extension, to copy some other spell, then use another AP to cast it? And if not, why?
  10. von Schill is too good, way too good. But the Strongarm suit is just cheese. And also Pandora. Grr.....
  11. Yeah, I understand. But what if you converted some zombie, eg. animal zombie, to use as Necropunks? They are just that good. And besides, Necropunks in Malifaux have been some sort of living being at some time.
  12. Nekromansed, what does Jack Daw have to do with anything? He's not even good. A basic Hanged is better, imo. And some crews just deserve a halfdozen Flesh Constructs to the face. Like Schilli con carne...
  13. A Lynch crew needs something to combat ranged. Stitched are good. Depleted are awesome. If anything gives more movement or resistance vs. the opponent's prefered attacks, take it.
  14. Had a game last night. My Dark Debts vs. a friend's von Schill. I'll admit there were some major screw-ups on my side but the problems started way before. I'm refering to the fact that his Trapper killed two models on two activations shooting. Bad deployment played it's part and the targets were a Depleted and Beckoner, who aren't, in the end, that resilient at range. But it made me wonder is there any tricks on surviving or enduring more? I play Lynch so I probably need to splice in something non-Brilliant. I've thought about Nightmares, 'cause they seem somewhat resilient, eg. Twins or Coppelius. But also the Hooded Rider and Teddy seem like they could take a hit or two. Hooded Rider's Night would be good at running vs. a gunline or sniper. Maybe a Stitched Together or two would be in place, I think? Opinions?
  15. Rules keep getting tangled. Can a model target itself with its spells? Eg. Mortimer targetting himself wit Fresh Meat.
  16. How come? How can she be affected by an effect when not in play? And even if she is, she can't be sacced from bury...? But on the topic, Bete is pure murder, Nurses are not that good as, even though Massive Dose-effects are good, you need to use something to kill the Dosed model before it is sacced. And for the third time or so, why would anyone ever use McTavish as you can pay one more stone and get Sue? McTavish is just too expensive. Both have Shrug Off. Or, on a different note, Mortimer. Welcome to the Resurrectionists.
  17. Jacob is fast w. Card Trick - move, shoot/DMH, move into cover. I've planned on trying an Arcane Effigy, for the extra AP and card (haven't got the foggiest idea how I would fit in in 35ss, but I'll think of something). And yeah, DMH's and Lynch's point is to bring HD back from beyond. That's what gives to opportunity to play aggressively. I've planned on the following list: Jacob, HD out, 2 x beckoners, 2 x Depleted, Arcane Effigy, Desperate Merc, Graves. And replace Effigy and Merc w. Illuminated if need be. Also Kade could work in certain Schemes. I had my first match w. Lynch's and even though we had to quit our match mid-game, I got some ideas how to play him. 1. I2I is just awful... An Izamu in the middle of the battle is just horrible. Huggy though made him kill his own crew with Heed My Voice, so that was cool. 2. Arcane Effigy will help vs. crews with magics, Brutal vs. shootings. In theory. Any experiences?
  18. Sorry if I sound rude, but how does not Necropunks fulfill the theme of Zombie?
  19. Otherwise my next gameplay tactic with Nicodem but for one problem: Crooked Men's Cave-In's blasts doesn't do enough damage to kill the dogs or Mercs. So you need another source for blast damage... You can get max. 7 Canines under Rafkin's poison blast. But still, that's lot of Corpses anyways. Cool. Gotta try this out sometimes. But with Nico, Necropunks are the best first buy. Almost always faster (if Leap succeeds) than Night Terrors, leave Corpses, are cheaper and with Slow to Die can control where they leave their Corpses. Necrotic Machine as a Totem for Nico is good for two reasons: it can make Mortimer Undead to gain the effects of Fresh Meat, and has a higher Ca than the Grave Spirit. Vulture is good for some Strategies and Schemes, atleast those who include summoning models. Doxies are an interesting option and as I haven't tried them yet, cannot say. But one can make them work. Belles are good but I would anyday prefer one Hanged to two Belles, because it does everything the Belles do, but better and most importantly, doesn't care about the biggest problem with Rezzers, Immune to Influence.
  20. I might add some cheap meatshields like Canines, but that's rather a question of playstyle. And a totem to McM, because the two choices (Grave Spirit and Zombie Chihuahua) are so costeffective, Lastly, some hitting power: Punk Zombies, CrookedMen, Drowned... Your choice. Try out and see what works and what you want to use. I think this is a really good start.
  21. Sadly, Boshea is right. 1. Once per turn per miniature. 2. Answered in the link, in a strange topic about zeros, by Ratty.
  22. Playing familiar models and knowing the rules reduces -, the pregame strategy- and scheme-lottery and terrainmaking take time. We have 4 hours time and still don't get it in time. -.- But in time, like Joel said, it will get faster. Chess timers are used in Warmachine alot, in tournament mode, and that makes it so fast and effective. Both players have an hour to play and it you timeout, you lose. Every second it is your turn, the clock is taking off your time. But this needs familiarity to the rules and miniatures, on a whole new level. In time...
  23. On another note, if you want something not related to steampunk robots, you could look into von Schill and the Freikorps. Steampunk mercenary soldiers who work as a group, have access to exosuits and other mercenaries. I like Ramos the most of these, but just thought off bringing this option to the table.
  24. Malifaux is cheaper, with a cooler theme and world (assuming the theme hits you) and imo better rules than WarmaHordes and Warhammers. But welcome and hope ye find people to play with.
  25. Not of the same opinion, because imo there is a difference between effect and Characteristic. But hopefully this will never pop up... Because if your interpretation is correct, models with Shrug Off, like Sue and some Guild models are just silly good against a Lynch crew. But the text from the Errata seems true so I'm not sure. Still comping meself up though.
