As for your plan, it gets better if you use a drowned. Walk it forwards, drop a scheme marker. Put up the aura from the upgrade (spirit beacon/whispers? I can't remember which), then summon off the drowned enough to kill it. You can a second scheme marker from the aura and a third from Finish The Job, plus a seshin for discarding a card.

I love doing something similar with Jackdaw.  Makes ALiTS nice and easy to achieve.

So the issue would have been on the first Walk/Fly. If they were engaged at that point they'd have to do disengaging strikes.

Not necessarily, it's whether you begin the Walk action engaged, not begin your activation engaged. So if you flew 10" and ended up landing in a models engagement range you would then have to defend a disengaging strike to move with your second AP. You can't 'combine' your two AP to do a single 20" move, they have to be completed as separate actions.

  3. Yes, you only need to take Disengaging Strikes if you start the move action engaged. Similarly you only take Horror duels if you target a model with the Terrifying rule or end a walk action in their engagement. Note that they can't just fly their full two move AP in one go. They have to land after the initial move (10" I assume but haven't got books to hand) then spend a second AP to complete the second move so firstly the must have room to land somewhere after the first AP, secondly if they end next to a Terrifying model they must take the Horror duel and thirdly if they're engaged after the first AP they must defend a disengaging strike to be able to make the second move action.

  4. Thanks very much.  I used Golden Acrylic Interference paints.  First I painted the models blue with a black wash then highlighted back up before flicking white paint over them with a paintbrush to give the spots.  Then I used the GAI Fine blue all over followed by GAI Fine Violent in the crevices and a few random splashes here and there.

  5. Hey guys, hope this is in the right bit of the forum but wasn't sure where to put it!  I'm wondering if anybody here based in the Wolverhampton area? I am going to be moving there in 4-6 weeks for a job (possibly living in Brierley Hill for a little bit before Wolverhampton) and so will be wanting to find a new gaming club, and in particular one that has a strong Malifaux scene.  If anybody could suggest any clubs in the area I'd appreciate it.

I don't think this post is very helpful, you are putting him on a pedestal and making it difficult to offer other opinions because not only do you have to deal with the fact he (Ant) actually articulates very well why he feels that Rogue beats Izamu (and he is correct IMO) but you are now seen as speaking against the current champ whereas from the OP Ant is wanting people to engage with him and to help shake up the Ressur forum (which is great)

I agree with this too.  Obviously Stryder is a very good player but then Joe Wood has just won a high ranking tournament with a Kirai list that has Izamu as a lynchpin beater.  I know this reflects the original point about needing support but as above, combinations are a thing in Malifaux.  The RN works much better if it's got some healing around for example to keep it above the three-headed threshold bonus.

  7. I really like Izamu.  I agree that sometimes he can need support (a trick that I like is to have the Graveyard Spirit stick to him and kill anything that ignores armour!) but then that applies to so many things in the game.  Malifaux is about creating combinations that best allow you to achieve the strats and schemes.  Izamu can hand out some serious damage, especially with Masters who can give him support (which is most of the Resser ones to be fair, I run the big lump with Nico a lot to hand out Fast like candy and full heal him) and Defensive wise I think RN and Izamu are probably on a par with each of them going to be trumped by certain enemy models.

  8. I agree though saying that Transfusion is useful in a poison McMourning build is hardly netlisting which doesn't really exist in Malifaux!

It's also useful to have if Rafkin is around because he can heal models that have poison on so you can move the poison where it needs to be on your own models (including himself).
