  1. Hey all If you've got some awesome wyrd models for Christmas, why don't ya come down and learn how to use them on the 2nd January at Heroes and Legends Surbiton. 12 onwards, and a painting table available if you're still making. For more info, contact the store, or shoot me a PM on here. http://www.heroesandlegendsgames.com all the best. Zac
  2. The old brass arachnid only just fit on a 30mm base as well. I think most of the threads to do with this come from the whole "new is worse" mindset a lot of people have.
  3. Giving away stats for miniatures for free is not what that is. You would actually be paying to hand out the stats, either through printing or bandwidth. That's OK with a small game which is growing: it's a price the company will pay to build the fan base. For a larger game, which Malifaux now is, the price is much higher due to the larger player base. So no, I don't really think Wyrd are doing badly. I think they're doing well. Malifaux is on the up, version 2 is getting good reviews, and I want the game to continue. If you think that the cost of an arsenal deck is too high for the hours of work put in, the quality of the cards, and the fun you will have playing the game, then you should probably stick to chess. One outlay, and no updates ever.
  4. Evil Wyrd. Wanting to be paid for the work they do.
  5. Hey guys. Merry Christmas to everyone, and a quick present from me over at Malibites.podbean.com. Nothing less than a 20 minute masterclass on how to play Tara from Justin Gibbs himself. Enjoy the Holidays guys. Zac
  6. Hi guys. Today we release a new episode of Malibites, entitled Master of Malifaux. In case you didn't get that from the thread title. This week I talk to Joel Henry, regular Malifool and top ranked player in the UK, about starting a Lilith crew. If you're looking at getting her box, or if you want to know what might be coming at you across the table, why not take 20 minutes of your day and download it from here: http://malibites.podbean.com/2013/12/20/malibites-ep2-master-of-malifaux/ For regular updates on Malibites, you can follow @Malibites on Twitter, or keep checking this forum. Enjoy! Zac
  7. I've heard people talk about making the all Perdita crew before. I reckon it'd be really super confusing.
  8. Not just yet. There arre a few hoops to jump through to get on iTunes, so I'll be doing that in the next couple of weeks.
  9. Hey guys, last week I released the first episode of my new short form podcast about Malifaux, and if you're interested check it out at malibites.podbean.com I aim for every episode to be around 15-20 minutes long, and to feature a special guest talking about just one topic. The first week we went big with Justin Gibbs giving everyone an introduction to Malifaux. If you're new to the game, or someone who is considering jumping in, why not give it a listen? This Friday I'll be releasing episode 2, about a recently re-released master. For more hints about who the guest is, and what we're talking about, pop over to Twitter and follow @MaliBites Finally, for those of you that picked up something in the Black Friday sale, make sure you come back and check the twitter feed over christmas, as there'll also be a special wintery episode... All the best guys. Zac

  11. Hi guys Next Friday, we'll be running a fun and fast tournament down at the Friday night club. No buy in, because the only prize is acclaim. There is however a small fee for hiring the hall (£2), but if it's your first time, that's waved. Games will be led by a henchman with 15 SS to hire others, fixed list. Rounds last 40 mins with 3 rounds over the evening. We'll be starting soon after 7, so get down there ready! Games will only have one declared scheme, and a scheme pool for the whole event. You can only use each scheme once. Every game will run the same strategy. The aim is not to be super competitive here, just have lots of fast and furious fun! More details available from me here, @zacgoldenhall on twitter, or get in touch with the store: http://www.heroesandlegendsgames.com/index.php?route=information/contact All the best. Zac
  12. Hi Guys. It's been a bit of a while, and I've been really busy. Completed another crew, which I'll get some photos of soon, but the big stuff is I've been making a new demo board that is easier to lug about: Board WIP by zachos2, on Flickr Next step is to papier mache everything, then texture, magnetic paint, colour and details, before finally water effects and adding some hinges and big magnets to hold it together in storage.
  13. Well it's been a while chaps but I'm now painting stuff up for an arc anise crew to take to a local tournament. So please welcome to the Christmas crew, the happy little elf, December Acolyte: Christmas Acolyte by zachos2, on Flickr Expect a lot more in the coming days: I have a lot of models to paint and very little time to do it in. All the best Zac
  14. More info: All of this will be given out to everyone who signs up, and you can now get your ticket to the event here: http://www.heroesandlegendsgames.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=435&product_id=3655 Strategies and Schemes: "We have found the area rumoured to contain the Ruby. Giles has started sending out the workers to scout the area, while Marshall and Georgio set up the camp with Daphne (the archeologist. Lovely girl). Sebastian has closed himself into his tent, poring over the documents. It's been a long time since he let anyone see them. I'm glad I was careful enough to make a copy when he first showed them to me" Extract from Dr Godfrey's diary Game 1: Reconnoiter Protect Territory Bodyguard Entourage Plant Evidence "We have been surprised by just how harsh the conditions are out here. Apart from the obvious issues with working in the badlands (the weather is terrible, and not at all condusive to archeology), there are regular attacks on our workforce. We have been grateful on numerous occasions that we had the forethought to bring Captain Justine and her freebooters, who have been consolidating our positions and providing excellent protection for our work teams" Extract from Dr Godfrey's diary Game 2: Stake a claim Outflank Vendetta Distract Breakthrough "Recently attacks on our work teams have been increasing. Sebastian has refused to come out of his tent at all and is no longer accepting food or drink. The last man who tried to enter was hit round the back of the head with a heavy object. We have posted guards on both entrances, and I'm waiting for Captain Justine to get back from her tour of the work sites. She has had extra duties to attend to since Giles and Gerogeo went missing with Corporal Eugine's patrol. It's all a bit more dangerous than I'd imagined" Extract from Dr Godfrey's diary Game 3: Reckoning Make them suffer Frame for Murder Plant evidence Breakthrough "It seems like all out war has broken out. The work teams are revolting, how long my colleages have been plotting is beyond me. Sebastian managed to escape. He knocked out one of the guards and bolted into the night. His tent is despicable. It must be the deathmark. I can't believe these people were always like this. It's affecting them somehow. Is it affecting me? Justine is coming, I can hear her. She probably wants the map. The Ruby has control over her. I must keep the map safe. No-one can have the Deathmark. It will destroy..." Extract from Dr Godfrey's Diary Game 4: Turf War Distract Cursed Object Protect Territory Assassinate General Rules for the day Each player must declare their faction and may bring a pool of up to 60SS to hire their crew from. Each game will be 40 SS and will last 90 minutes and regular time updates will be given. At the 90 minute point you will be asked to finish the activation you are on and calculate your victory points for that game, before being given your new opponent. If you have any rules Queries first check your rulebooks, then with a Tournament Organiser and if none of us have the answer, flip for it. Hiring Each player may bring a pool of 60 Soul Stones from which they will hire their crew before each game. As the schemes and strategies are pre-selected it is suggested that you have some idea of what crew you will take for each round before the 16th, as that will speed up the selection process (that's why we gave you them ahead of time). Your pool can include up to 2 masters from your declared faction, and even if you have a dual faction master, all of your games will be fought as that declared faction. Summoned models do not need to be payed for out of your pool, unless you intend to hire them as part of your crew. Upgrades also form part of your pool, so spend those soulstones wisely. Support There are some great resources available online to help keep your games moving fast. Some that we've found helpful include: Strategy and Scheme cards: http://www.wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?47850-Strats-amp-Scheme-Cards M2E Cheat Sheets: http://www.wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?47090-M2E-Cheat-Sheets Printable Scheme Markers: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/44j4zkf9ha9vf4p/Q7ZOEXq0_9 Final note Have fun and remember this is about storytelling. Whether you win or lose, have some great moments to tell people about. Prize details to come, but for now if you have any questions, get in contact with me, or with the guys at Heroes and Legends. Zac

  16. Word started driftin' round th' streets of Malifaux a few weeks back. There's a certain soulstone they says, lost in the wilds south of the city. Some ses it's been present at the deaths of over a hundred difrent convicts, some say more. Some say that it could power a division of peacekeepers for better part of a century, all by isself. Course thems jus rumours. Same kinda rumours as bought me here, an you too mos likely. Rumours as always promise adventure, but end in a bar with nuthin t'show forrit. What chance does anyone have of finding a single stone in a desert? Pah! Rather try lookin fer a drink at the honeypot. Now that's an adventure won't go wrong! Everyone in Malifaux has heard rumours of a stone of great power lost in the deserts south of the city. While most see this as nothing more than the standard bar-room talk that floats across the underbelly of the city every few months, there is a detail that brings truth to the rumour. A name that comes from the first time the breach was opened: The Deathmark Ruby. Not many have read the books that mention this stone, but those that have set out to risk all on the offchance that the stone could be found and used to further their factions ends. The stone's whereabouts is uncertain, but it is clear that blood will be shed in the search for it. Welcome to the thread for the Deathmark Ruby, a one day Malifaux story tournament at Heroes and Legends Croydon on the 16th November 2013. For more details contact the store here: http://www.heroesandlegendsgames.com/index.php?route=information/contact Contact me through the forum, or as @zacgoldenhall on twitter, or just keep checking back here, as I'll be adding more details over the coming days. All the Best Zac
  17. Like it. Really like the Austringer model. If the new art didn't look awesome I'd pick one up, as it seems they're also pretty rad on the table.
  18. Wyrd have said they're thinking about electrical distribution, but that they don't know yet. Saying that pirating their ip is legitimate is probably not the best way to go about getting their good will and persuading them over to your pov. Everyone understands it's an issue for some people. Some people have seen Wyrd come through in the past often enough to trust them while they go through this busy time. As it happens, I'll probably have a spare brutal effigy card that I could possibly give to a destitute Collodhi player once I pick up the wave 2 deck.

  20. WWell guys, been doing lots of painting this weekend, so my crew can be ready for my LGS window display to advertise our M2E event next weekend: image by zachos2, on Flickr Really happy with how it turned out, tried some NMM, which I'm quite happy with. Going to have to finish them at some point, cause I had planned to try some OSL as well, but decided to get them to tabletop quality first, so I can use them in demos next weekend. Oh yeah, cause I'm now a henchman. C&C welcome, although I appreciate the photo isn't great as it's through the window.
  21. Thanks guys. I loved painting her. The whole model is awesome, except for the join between the sword and the hands, which is less awesome. Next up, a couple of Death Marshalls...
  22. Thanks Nagash. Been working on Justice's crew. been doing step by steps on twitter, but here's the finished Justice and judge: Justice by zachos2, on Flickr Judge by zachos2, on Flickr C&C welcome!
  23. Hey guys, been a bit of a long time since an update: I've just started a new job. I did take an opportunity to build my Lady J crew's bases: image by zachos2, on Flickr The idea is that eventually I'll own the entire guild faction, with bases that work together, but that are themed to the individual models. As guild are pretty much the Wild West aspect of Malifaux, they're getting Wild West bases, and Justice and crew are obviously making their way through a graveyard, ready to put the risen dead back into the graves from which they came. The three death marshalls didn't really have enough room for extra scenery on their bases, what with the big old coffins they lug around. The judge and the scales both get tombstones to thread through, while Lady J is perching on a small outcrop, as while I considered something more tomblike, I felt she really needed a bit of extra height. C&C welcome
  24. My takes: New lilith is walking slowly towards the enemy, twirling her sword around her head as she does so. Lady J is standing when an opponent shoots. Quick as a flash she drops into a crouch and the bullet whizzes through the space where her head was. Misaki I always imagined to be flipping and dancing across a lake. Think crouching tiger. I always wanted to do her "fire" as water coming up as she somersalted along, bullets striking the water around her.

    M2E Scale

I'm disagreeing that their heads and hands are inappropriately sized. The models are in better proportion to themselves than some of the ten thunder models. They are also in a similar proportion to the other sets than some of the ten thunder models. Examples include the guild pathfinder and the riflemen, both of very out proportions. So no, I can't agree that all other models have appropriately sized heads and that the Viks look out of place. If Wyrd want to do something because they're not as intended then power to them, but the Viks are not the only case of this kind of scale issue, and are actually better than some with internal scaling.
