  1. I realized just this morning that Miss Treated has hair covering her face. That's a really great idea.

I'll get to reading your article later in the afternoon. I love the look of your crew, but I'm repeating myself *grin*.

Beautiful contrast on Dead J's skin, hair and clothes.

Did you get any games with this crew?

  2. Well you're kind of a cool kind of an eccentric and it's great to have someone who is not afraid to see someone with corageuos conversion/sculpting projects.

Your stuff either has a great B horror film quality to them or is something different entirely what can be classified as art (well the dwarf from couple of pages ago is not what I was thinkig about, but him too). Your teddies look especially frightening in my opinion...

Your new conversions somehow remind me of the movie Planet Terror. Looking forward to see them painted.

  3. Great conversion.

I do like the original pose and this is a nice alternative pose which looks more threatening. I can't decide if I like any of the two better.

Your version reminds me of her old art from the Twisting Fates book.

I'd like to see a more sneaky version of Misaki myself. I might end up getting her myself because I want to get her box because I need Ototo for Zoraida and I'll probably keep the rest of the box because of the great looking minis.

I have an image of her running along side of a wall, so I might do a conversion of her on my own. She could leave some sort of a spark along the trail she's leaving on the wall similar to the wave she makes with her kick... -conversion musings-

  4. Nothing here yet: http://www.malifaux.com/Downloads/Wyrd_Chronicles_Volume_8.pdf

(I just replaced the number on the link which all other chronicles share)

It might still be in editing process or something. I searched this site and Rattys post should be on the top page of the site but it's not there at the moment...

  5. Pathfinder goblins look more like gremlins than other fantasy goblins and could be more easily converted into gremlins:

    Goblin Pyros

    Goblin Warriors

I use Confrontation Uraken Clan goblins for my Slop Haulers and I was going to convert a more japanese themed crew of gremlins around Wong, but now I don't have to since there is brewmaster... But I've found out that these metal goblins are much larger than gremlins, not as big as Lenny or Somer, but the difference is too big to replace all gremlins. Since the slop haulers have access to food I've let their size pass off as a response to their healthy diet.

I've been using these minis for my slophaulers:

    Wazabi

    Ashigaru Musician

I'll post my conversions in a couple of weeks when I finish up the painting (I hope).

  6. Great thread! I love this so much..

I'll have a lot of freehand poncho fun with my Kin, but first:

I was having some ideas today as I primed Leveticus and Alyce and decided to paint them as some characters from my favorite comic book

(a hint: James Cameron is plans to adapt it as a movie after he's done with the Avatar franchise).

As I will be getting the plastic versions I'll paint those as my vision of Leveticus and Rusty and the metallic duo are going to be cosplayers - so I was thinking of making a bit of a freehand metallics on Rustys face and a tiny tattoo on Leves forhead.

It's not much place for detail, so at this point it's just my imagination.

I'll post the results next week.

  7. Since the Three kingdoms is composed of Japan, China and Vietnam and since we haven't seen anythig Vietnamese yet I hope we get a big surprise.

On the other hand oriental mysticism hasn't been used a lot. In the Twisting Fates there was a gang called Dervishes (of something, some color or something) that Misaki fought against, but those were the dark arts mystics that had to be dealt with... and you also have Monk of the Low River (and I haven't read his fluff yet).

Somebody has mentioned some sort of elemental master like the dragon looking bad guy in crappy Return of the Mummy sequel with yetis and clay mummies (which I couldn't bring myself to watch) and that would be a little to blunt in my opinion, but I suppose it could have a much better execution in game than in that movie.

I'm sort of hoping for a bad guy that is somehow a cross between Shiwan Khan from this movie and The Shadow himself. I've only seen the movie, didn't get to reading the comic books and that story began as a radio show in the 30's. Movie looks nice, but it's very corny..

Shiwan Khan's supposedly descended from Genghis Khan and the main hero was an American pilot that somehow became a crime lord (turned a hero later) and that doesn't have anything to do with the original Three Kingdoms. The story revolves around two guys controling everyone through mystic/psychic powers like mass hypnotism, telekinesis, transdimensional manipulation of time/space and they've learned to master their powers in a Tibetan monastery.

The Tulku organization/order from that the Shadow guy runs screams of Ten Thunders and it's corny enough for Malifaux as it became obscure since the movie flopped, so I don't see it referenced anywhere.

    EDIT

I 've just watched it again. It's very corny, but a great fun and has a lot of atmosphere.

Picture a mongolian warrior fetching a cab in New York in order to go assassinate someone and no one notices him. I'm not sure if everyone in the movie is hypnotised or there are a lot of plotholes. It's definitely worth a watch.

  8. Lenny is pretty awesome. I am still thinking about giving him some grease stains and other stains on his shirt, cause he probably has poor hygiene (I am not saying that gremlins in general have proper hygiene. I am saying he is probably worse than the worst. lol). Ideas?

    Just his shirt?!

I mean he could be really dirty and I didn't wanted to bluntly point out the obvious pee stains. That might be in bad class. :-X
    :Button:

    They both look pretty awesome.

Did the pigapult guy originally came on the pigapult base or is set apart from the pigapults base?

I haven't considered pigapult and not many people play gremlins here...

  9. Those look awesome!!!

I'll have to pin them because they easily fall apart (chicken legs and cats arm).

My friends got their Gencon stuff so I should get mine soon, I'm getting University of Transmortis and Shadows of Redchapel + metal Molly, Ponto and Dead Doxies *heart*.

I bought a pack of 21 rats from Freebooters Miniatures for Hamelin as an npc in TtB, and some xmas trees and lamposts from Dollar Tree for terrain.

What is the size of those rats in relation to Malifaux Rat scale?

I love Freebooter stuff, I've got one girl as a proxy for Young Nephilim and I have two bigger ones on the way for Nekima and Mature Nephilim (Succubus and the even bigger Famale Chaos Demon).

  10. I would say that a totem is either some sort of prodigious apprentice (Governors Proxy, Malifaux Child, Student of Conflict, Karina, Young Lacroix, Copycat Killer etc.), something the master has to guard which has or shares some sort of unique power (Steam Trunk, Scales of Justice, Primordial Magic, Essence of Power, Purifying Flame, Grave spirit etc.) or is just a sort of an exotic being which resonates well with masters power (Enslaved Nephilim, Wendigo, Vulture, Jackalope etc.).

Basically some of these would still fall into the catagory of totems which are created from masters own power. I'm glad that this is not the case with all of the totems, because it doesn't make sense in case of Malifaux Child and Young Lacroix which were never classified as homunculus types of beings to begin with.

The question is will the new effigies replace totem choices outside of Neverborn faction with the M2E switch.

It also seems that totems are now the cheapest choice of models for building a crew and this is an ok way to limit the hiring of cheap models. Bayou Gremlins being the cheapest minions beside totems (and maybe Malifaux Rat, but we shall see).

  11. Problem is that some of her hair is falling down the jacket and if you're going to cut her head off you will also remove at least two locks of her hair. But those can still be modeled easily in my opinion.

I have original Viktorias, maybe the alternate models are different.

Also the alternate models have a bit more detail to their faces, but I like the original ones better.

  12. Actually those "Gilligan" styled bases should portray a more rustic style of a bamboo floor, but I guess it wouldn't have an appearance inside Malifaux because it wouldn't be practical inside the games world.

I really like tutorial from dmeep's link.

  13. Maybe it could be a crossover book with additional stuff for Malifaux and Through The Breach and maybe some sort of campaign rules, more fluff and a hobby section.

I haven't got my M2E book yet so I haven't seen if anything was added to Story Encounters, but the 2nd book could have some additional stuff for that too.

Besides Wave2 stuff that seems like a lot of content, but I haven't seen the first book yet, so I don't know how much stuff is in it...

  14. I've seen a lot of desperate mercs being transformed into Witchling Stalkers in 1.0, somehow due to their cost increase and a lot of rules being changed considering killing your own models they will evade being the favourite sacrifice fodder besides the Canine Remains.

I see Hans & Taelor being the favorite merc choice besides some Freikorps dudes & dudettes. I haven't played any 2nd edition games yet, so I'm talking just from my BETA lurking experience.

Oiran will be probably be good for Colette.

I'm also looking forward to what will the 2nd wave McTavish bring to the table...

  15. Great painting and choice of miniatures for the proxies. I can't recognize most of the minis but they are beautiful and you do them great justice. The one you used for a convict gunsliger is my favourite.

I really like the scratchbuilt coffin. What miniature did you use for the death marshall?

I also want to paint my metal Taelor with a darker skin and it's nice to see other people do it first.

The metal mini has somehow reminded me of Michonne from The Walking Dead comic book & tv series.
