  1. Appreciate the feedback. Theme is fine given the movies his mom lets him watch! I can see him really getting into this and it would be great to get him more into something that isn't a video game!
  2. I'm thinking about introducing my grandson to the game. He is coming to visit for a couple weeks during Christmas and I'm thinking of getting a couple crews and introducing him to it. I'm not concerned about the theme, more about the game mechanics. I noticed over on BGG that the recommended age is 14. What age have you seen get into this style of game play? My grandson is 10. He really likes Catan and Munchkins and can handle those games. He also enjoys Pokemon. ps. I'm new to Malifaux, don't even have my first crew yet, but I have played a demo game and am hooked.
  3. Hi! New to Malifaux, and don't have my first crew yet but building up steam to go get a couple and start painting. I'm leaning towards some of the Outcasts like the Viktoria's box set and the Thunder box set to get started. I'm also new to this game format. Seen it played many times, but never gotten into it myself. Most of my gaming background is in board games of many types and complexity. I played a demo game at Socal Smackdown recently the theme and play style have me hooked. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it for a couple weeks. I'll located in San Diego County in San Marcos, CA. Looks like there are some games going at a local store (Pair a Dice) that I haven't had time to go check out yet. Looking forward to checking out that scene and then getting things going.
  4. I'm in the same boat and had the same questions so thanks for getting them out there. I was recently introduced to Malifaux at Socal Smackdown (nearby Con) and I can't stop thinking about it. And I have tried. I'm already so busy, I'm struggling with how to fit this in. I can easily see getting sucked into building terrain (I built a model railroad layout as a kid) and painting the crews. I did a fair amount of model building and painting when I was young so can easily see enjoying that aspect of the hobby. Gaming side, this would be my first experience playing with miniatures, my background is on the board game side.
  5. Malifaux is going to be my first gaming system. I went to Socal Smackdown a couple weeks ago for the board games, watched a demo game of Malifaux, played a demo game and haven't been able to get it out of my head since. It's been YEARS since I painted miniatures or models and I've started reading up on it, preparing to get a couple boxed sets. I think I'm obsessed!
