  1. Just wan't to 100% make sure I got this. The Concealed Weapon ability on a gunsmith only protects it from ranged attacks and spells with the gun icon. Is this correct?
  2. Simple question: Is a spell that does not have a gun (ranged icon) next to it still considered a ranged spell if it is not a pulse or blast? For example, Pandora targets a gunslinger with Self-Loathing (no gun icon). Does she have to beat a Wp13 to pass through the Gunslingers ability (can't remember the name) which causes ranged attacks and ranged spells targeting it to pass the Wp check or fail?
  3. My opponent and I were both playing with the starter sets. I chose to kill Colette as one of my schemes, which seems like it was a huge mistake. It looks like I need to make better use of project emotions: pity and figure out an appropriate target priority. Thanks for the tips!
  4. In the situation in the thread you linked the push happens after the damage (the ability explicitly states so). In my case I have 2 abilities that each should trigger simultaneously. One of them causing Papa Loco to blow up and the other pushing me 4". I think I should get to move since the damage and push are immediate effects. Once they resolve then Papa Loco should blow up. Can anyone answer this?
  5. I was playing Malifaux for the first time this week, using the Pandora starter. I was able to come up with a viable strategy to take down Perdita, Lilith, and Collodi, but when fighting Colette everything I tried failed miserably. I found Colettes ability to bury Candy and then kill her and turn her into a Mannequin with extremely high armor and Wp almost impossible to come back from (happened turn 2). When I tried to kill Colette she just teleported away (even though I had managed to position her up against a wall and get her completely surrounded). Is there a certain model in her army I should try to take out first? Is there a way to avoid having my models turned into Mannequins? I just need some pointers on this match up so maybe I feel like I have a chance next time.
  6. Saturday my local hobby store had a Malifaux gaming day to teach new players the game. A couple people who knew the rules fairly well walked around and helped out all the new players (about 12 of us). I played 4 games with Pandora and one fairly tricky question came up during those games: Papa Loco with one Wd charged Pandora and failed the Wp duel for Expose Fears. When this happened both Emotional Trauma and Fading Memory triggered. My question is do I get to push 4" before Papa Loco explodes from the Emotional Trauma damage?
  7. Thats basically how I thought it worked marful, thanks. This should mean that the models can be repeatedly targetted with pacify and killed.
  8. I'm new to this game and that doesn't entirely make sense to me. Aren't the models immune to the effect imposed by Pacify/Incite, rather than being immune to Pacify/Incite. From what Ozz posted above regarding Tread the Line "Friendly models are immune to effects which restrict when they can activate during the turn. These effects on models within the aura when this spell is successfully cast immediately end." So is there a rule that states that models immune to the effect of a spell (rather than the spell itself) do not have to take Wp duels against those spells? I am skimming through the rules pdf trying to find something, but I'm a noobie so I am probably overlooking something. In my head this happens: 1. Pandora casts Pacify/Insight on a target model that is immune to effects which restrict when they can activate during the turn. 2. There is an opposed Wp->Wp duel. 3. Assuming Pandora wins and is within 12 inches, the target takes 1 Wd. from Emotional Trauma. 4. The game checks to see if it is legal to apply the spells effect, which it is not. 5. The target is not affected by Pacify/Insight, making it a legal target for an additonal Pacify/Insight attempt. 6. Repeat till target is removed from game or Pandora loses the Wp duel. Can someone point out where in that sequence of events I am incorrect. I think I may be missing something fundamentally important.
  9. So can't Pandora just repeatedly target the models immune to pacify/incite (because they will not be affected) and as long as they keep losing the Wp duel they will keep taking damage?
  10. Thanks for the rules clarification and for the link to that interview. It seems there is a fair amount of good information out there.
  11. Sounds like I have a lot of models to check out! So I just read on the wiki that all Morale duels are Wp Duels. So do enemies near Pandora that fail morale duels suffer a Wd loss from Emotional Trauma?
  12. Thanks for the info 96p. I will check out those links and read up on those models.
  13. Some friends of mine convinced me to order a starter set of this game last night. Having no prior knowledge of the game, I looked through some of the books and I saw Pandora and her extremely awesome avatar form (tentacle monster of insanity... yes please!) and decided I would play her. One of my friends explained to me she is difficult to learn but quite powerful. Can anyone give me some very basic advice on Pandora? Is her box set fun/competitive or do I need to order some other models? Is there a place online where I can look at the different units stats? Is there a list of woes I can run with her? I am reading the rules right now. I just have a lot of questions about her and her crew! Also, is there a Malifaux strategy resource that you all can reccomend to me? Thanks!
