  1. Happy Friday Wyrdos! Today we are looking at a unit from the Cult of the Burning Man, the Twisted Horrors. Let's take a peek! As the aetheric energies of the Burning Man pour into the fragile bodies of mortals, some are remade into monstrous aberrations. Unable to internalize the magic inside them, it spills outward, warping their bodies until they are as much magic as flesh. These Twisted Horrors have mutable forms that can withstand immense punishment, and their flesh has contorted to form living weapons. In moments of peril, their bodies can even unleash bursts of magic, causing them to be one of the most randomly dangerous forces at the Cult's disposal. On the table, Twisted Horrors are strong frontline forces. Their melee attacks make them a threat in combat, and their ability to generate their own Reinforcement Tokens makes them hard to kill. When they flip to Glory, the Twisted Horrors gain the Unpredictable Ability, which can often result in the unit gaining multiple Activations during the Turn.
  2. Hey Wyrdos! It's Monday and that means more previews!! This week we are bringing you the other half of the Undying encounter box. This week we are taking a look at Minako Rei and her Katashiro! Last week we looked at Manos and the Mourners. This week we look at Minako Rei and the Katashiro, the other side of the Undying box. Minako Rei is the last surviving member of the Order of Balance, whose job it was to hunt down the corrupted sorcerers who used their magics to feed on the souls of peasants, using the energy to extend their lives. After her Order was wiped out by the traitor, Manos, she became single-minded in her pursuit of the Jiangshi and the evil Manos. On the table, Minako Rei is a force to be reckoned with. She is able to use kharma to seal another's fate, causing an enemy to suffer any damage that Minako herself suffered. Perhaps most notably, Minako is able to create the Katashiro that she uses to aid her in her mission. The Katashiro are paper creations brought to life with magic. They are able to attack immediately upon being summoned or placed, and they are able to turn into origami cranes to place themselves in new locations. As constructs and Oni, they can find a home in many Ten Thunders crews. These three models join forces with the Wanyudo, a moving, flaming wheel in order to hunt down Manos and bring balance at last.
  3. Happy Friday Wyrdos! As always Friday means it is time for another Other Side preview. This Friday though the preview is ready to make a big boom! Let's take a look at the artillery team. One of the most defining features of the King’s Empire is their widespread use of artillery on the battlefield. Their investment into firearms has paid dividends in both equipment for normal troops and the development of large-scale weapons like the howitzer. By achieving superior range over their opponents, the King’s Empire has managed to keep casualties down through the application of superior firepower. Typical Artillery Teams are made up of three soldiers: a gunner and two loaders. Even so, each member of the team trains in each position, allowing them to function even after they've suffered casualties. On the tabletop, Artillery Teams are very long ranged units with poor accuracy. Their incredible Strength easily makes up for this, though, and they can comfortably sit on the backline and shell enemy troops all game long.
  4. It wouldn't be a Monday preview if it was posted on Friday.
  5. Happy Monday Wyrdos! Today we take a look at an upcoming Story Encounter & Adventure Box, The Undying. It contains thrills and chills for Through the Breach as well as some amazing new models for Malifaux. Let's take a look! The Undying details two forces that have come into contact with each other: the Resurrectionists and the Ten Thunders. Today, we'll be looking at the leader of the Resurrectionist forces, Manos the Risen, and his two Mourners. Manos is an immortal assassin who once belonged to the Order of Balance, a group of priests, warriors, and assassins who brought an end to those who had fallen from the kharmic wheel. The Order were mortal enemies of the Jiangshi, terrible sorcerers who fed on the souls of helpless peasants to extend their own, unnatural lives. The immortal sorcerers corrupted Manos and taught him how to feed on the souls of the fallen, and he used that knowledge to grant himself a perverse form of immortality. Bolstered with forbidden knowledge, he returned to the Order and murdered all of his former friends... all save for one, Minako Rei. After he takes an assignment, nothing - not even death - can stop Manos from completing his mission. On the table, he harvests the Chi of those who die around him and expends it to increase his own capabilities, becoming Fast, more resistant, or empowering his powerful Celestial Strike attack, which ignores Hard to Kill. Accompanying Manos are his Mourners. These undead women are defensive Belles; with Disguised and Manipulative, they're difficult to target, and their Funeral Shroud action prevents enemy models in their engagement range from targeting anyone not in base contact with them. The Mourners aren't entirely defensive, though. They also possess the Feed off Grief attack, a ranged attack that heals them if it kills the target. Better yet, the attack is resisted by Willpower. Perhaps it's time for Seamus to swing by the local cemetery to pick up some new friends!
  6. Happy Friday Wyrdos! Today we have a preview of the Speckled Crawlers. While they may not be the most vicious of the Gibbering Horde, they are sure to give your opponent a headache trying to get rid of them! Speckled Crawlers, like their Barbed cousins, occupy the lowest level of the Hordes’ food pyramid. They are the most plentiful species, partially because of their incredible ability to adapt to their environment. Upon arriving on Earth, the Crawlers took to the land, tunnels, buildings, forests, and every other environment they came across. They lurk in many dark and unseen places, waiting for prey to come into reach of their clawed hands. While Speckled Crawlers are not strong by themselves, they more than make up for this with strength of numbers. On the table, Speckled Crawlers occupy two five monster Fireteams. This makes them quite a tar pit, and their resilience is further bolstered once they flip to Glory and begin gaining automatic Reinforcement Tokens. Their basic melee attack is somewhat weak, but it becomes stronger if the Crawlers can get into contact with terrain (such as a conveniently placed Tide Pool).
  7. Happy Monday Wyrdos! It's time for another preview, and it is time to take a look at the Rooster Rider from the upcoming Bayou Bash!! Whether he was too egg-cited from watching the mayhem of the race or accidentally found himself on the track and decided to wing it, the Rooster’s joined in on the chaos of the Bayou Bash and has been ruffling feathers ever since. Running at beakneck speed down the track, riding this reckless Rooster is the nest best thing to being catapulted toward the finish line, and just about as challenging to control, too. His ability to kick it up a notch by gaining movement dice at the risk of staggering more often allows this bird-brain to fly by the competition, even if it might mean taking a dust bath off the track. You won’t have to pull out any feathers in anticipation for much longer. The cluck is ticking until Bayou Bash is released this year!
  8. Happy Friday Wyrdos! It's time for another preview, and this time around we have the Mehal Sefari. The empire of Abyssinia is led by the Emperor, who is in turn assisted by a large number of aristocrats that help govern its cities and regions. These individuals make up a large and complex Imperial line of succession, and the Mehal Sefari are tasked with protecting the first one hundred Abyssinians in line for the throne. Equipped with powerful takoba swords and machine guns, the Mehal Sefari are ready to lay down their lives for their charges and for the empire of Abyssinia. On the tabletop, the Mehal Sefari function best by staying close to your Champions, which most often means that they are supporting your Commanders. Their battle competence is excellent, but their ability to gain Reinforcement and Tactics Tokens sets them apart from most other units. While expensive, there is very little the Mehal Sefari cannot accomplish, in terms of both brute strength and battlefield support.
  9. I'll resolve this with you through PM!
  10. You can thank @Kyle for the break today
  11. Happy Monday Wyrdos! We continue to look at the upcoming Bayou Bash game. This exciting racing game has several riders, including the Waldgeist Rider! Take a look! In an event as wild and rowdy as the Bayou Bash, sometimes even the surrounding trees pine to participate. This week, the Waldgeist spruces himself up and enters the race. His jockey has an axe to grind, and luckily for her, the Waldgeist is willing to lend a hand. On the race track, this little tree with a big heart takes the slow and steady approach. Despite not being as reckless as his competitors, his ability to control how he staggers can often leaf the other racers in the dust. Make sure to keep an eye out for Bayou Bash, which hits store shelves this year! When the Waldgeist was asked if he’d buy the game, he aptly responded, “I wood.”
  12. You have to click on "Send me a copy of my responses" in order to get the email
  13. Hey guys! Just a reminder to make sure you send your guilders in good reinforced packaging!! Would hate to have empty packages showing up in the office!
  14. You have to click "Send me a copy of my response" to get an email. I'll PM you for remaining details.
  15. You have been waiting. You have been asking. You have been begging. Finally we are glad to announce that Alt Lazarus is available! You may be asking yourself "How can I get a hold of this magnificent piece of plastic?!?". Well, the answer is Guilders! Head on over to the Guilder store (https://www.wyrd-games.net/guilders) and follow the steps! P.S. @Aaron is pretty excited that this guy is finally available!
  16. Happy Friday Wyrdos! It's time for another Friday preview, and today we are looking at The Broken. This Cult Unit is sure to live up to their name leaving your opponent's units broken and scattered! Almost every member of the Cult of the Burning Man began their twisted worship as one of the Broken. People who had experienced significant trauma in their lives were particularly receptive to the call of the Burning Man, and their first act is often one of intense violence against their loved ones. The Broken tend to gather in large groups, rambling their madness to one another and gathering up whatever impromptu weapons they can find. Over time, chaos and violence thin out their numbers, some progressing deeper into the Cult while others are killed. Fortunately, there is never any shortage of madmen to replenish their ranks. On the table, the Broken can absorb a lot of damage. Their five-model Fireteams are very durable, and they have the ability to generate their own Reinforcement Tokens. Their various means of discarding cards also assists them in handing out Shaken Tokens to friendly or enemy units via the Cult’s Allegiance card.
  17. Happy Monday Wyrdos! Today we have a special Monday Preview of our upcoming game Bayou Bash. We are starting by showing off the Pig Rider! Bayou Bash is an upcoming racing game filled with speed, out of control animals, and good old fashioned fighting. Become a jockey in the most dangerous race this side of the Breach, doing everything you can to wow spectators and fans as you barrel toward the finish line. With an assortment of wild animals and slightly unhinged Gremlins, Bayou Bash encourages players to cut loose and move as fast as they can, only slowing down to try to send their fellow racers careening off the track. Speaking of mounts, the Pig is one of the meanest in the swamp. She is an aggressive powerhouse in the race. While some racers excel at speed or stability, the Pig uses her tusks to toss around the competition. Don’t let her pretty bow fool you! The Pig isn’t afraid to take a dip in the mud in order to push her opponents around. Be sure to check out Bayou Bash, coming later this year!
  18. Happy Friday Wyrdos! We continue our previews of the Other Side. Today I bring you the pride of the King's Empire, the Royal Rifle Corps! Take a look. The most elite infantry unit in the King’s forces is the Royal Rifle Corps. The average soldier only has a few paths that lead to joining the Rifle Corps (but the most common is a tour in the Grenadiers). Armed with the best weapons money can buy, these troops drill endlessly to ensure that they are prepared for anything the enemy might throw at them. The CLLE Rifle is one of the longest range mass-produced firearms on Earth, and the sound of a squad of Royal Rifles firing on a position can put fear into even the most stalwart defenders. When they are not on the battlefield or drilling, the Corps are often asked to take part in parades and other morale building exercises on behalf of the King. On the tabletop, the Royal Rifle Corps are a longranged, high accuracy, high damage unit. While a Commander pays for the privilege of their presence, the Corps rarely disappoint. Solid defense, Armor, and Actions ensure that the Royal Rifle Corps are a valuable (if expensive) addition to any Company.
  19. Happy Monday Wyrdos! Today we are continuing some previews of upcoming Through The Breach products, but today is something extra new and extra exciting! We are taking a look at the upcoming Penny Dreadful Northern Sedition. Northern Sedition is the long-awaited sequel to Northern Aggression! The adventure picks up in Ridley sometime after the calamitous conclusion of the previous adventure. Discontent and rioting are on the rise, and a powerful new faction - the Seditionists - seeks to free Ridley from the influence of both Guild and Union alike. In response to the chaos, the leaders of Ridley have organized the town's first official militia. As the first members of Ridley's new militia, the task of dealing with the Seditionists (and the fallout from Northern Aggression) falls to the Fated. Will they seek to turn public opinion against the Seditionists or join their ranks? Will they use the opportunity to shift public opinion towards the Guild or Union, or do their loyalties lie with the dreaded Resurrectionists or secretive Ten Thunders? The successes and failures of the militia will determine the faction that comes to rule over Ridley, provided that the town is not destroyed by the sinister forces who are determined to turn the rioting to their own benefit... Like its predecessor, Northern Sedition is strongly influenced by whichever Master is pulling Ridley's strings: Marcus, Pandora, Jack Daw, or Sonnia Criid. Each Master changes the adventure in various ways, switching up the battles and throwing new challenges at the Fated. While Northern Sedition is designed to be played after Northern Aggression, it still functions perfectly well as a stand-alone series of adventures. A few simple flips on a table allow the Fatemaster to determine how Northern Aggression ended without having to play through that adventure, allowing players to quickly jump into the action with Northern Sedition. Like all of our published Penny Dreadfuls, Northern Sedition is split into four separate Acts, each one providing a complete session of gameplay. Northern Sedition's conclusion also sets the stage for Northern Destruction, a future Penny Dreadful that concludes the entire Northern trilogy!
  20. Happy Friday Wyrdos! This week I've been hearing a buzzing in my ear and with this Friday preview I finally know why! The Yarazi were hiding around the corner the whole time. Let's take a look! Not all of the Gibbering Hordes made their home in the oceans. There are a few species that moved into seaside caverns, though none quite as fully as the Yarazi. The Yarazi are much like puffins, flying high above the coastal waters before diving underwater for short periods to snatch up their prey. The Yarazi tend to use short bursts of speed when hunting rather than prolonged exertions, and they can reach incredible speeds while doing so. They're also capable of spitting an incredibly sticky mucus at great range, which is most often used to stop fleeing prey in its tracks. Despite their speed, Yarazi are not brave, and they will quickly flee from any real threats. On the table, Yarazi function like light cavalry. They can quickly dart across the battlefield, flying over other units as they rush toward objectives or weakened enemy units. They're not very durable, but fortunately, Yarazi have the ability to quickly escape from combat, which makes them annoying guerilla fighters Head over to the forums to discuss this unit!
  21. Happy Friday Wyrdos! It's time for another preview from the Other Side. This time we are taking a peek at the Steel Legion of Abysinnia. This veterans are a force to be reckoned with and backed up by a Cutter Titan. Let's take a look! At the pinnacle of the Abyssinian armed services sit the mighty Steel Legion. Filled with veterans of dozens of battles, the Steel Legion are the most respected, and feared, unit in Africa (and possibly the world). Their iconic buzzsaws are proprietary technology that seem capable of cutting through almost any material. The powerful armor turns aside most bullets, allowing them to enter into the thick of any combat to take down the enemy troops. Backed up by the mighty Cutter Titan, the Steel Legion are prepared to face any threat to the empire. On the tabletop, the Steel Legion have one role: cutting down the enemy. Using them for anything else is a waste of their talent. They are incredibly hard to take down, requiring a concentrated effort, and while the opponent is trying to kill them, they will be ripping through the heart of the opposing Company.
  22. Happy New Year Wyrdos! There is no better way to celebrate a new year than with a new preview! Today we take a look at the Guild Lawyer. The Guild Lawyer is an advanced pursuit in the upcoming Guild supplement, Above the Law. As one might expect, Guild Lawyers are, well... lawyers who are employed by the Guild. Mixed in with the standard legal questions of Malifaux's bar exam are a number of moral and ethical questions that don't have any sort of actual legal answer. Instead, they serve to highlight prospective lawyers whose mindset is sufficiently cruel enough to serve the Guild's purposes. Such characters are brought to the office of Lucius Mattheson and offered a contract guaranteeing them employment in exchange for their souls. Nobody who has refused to sign the contract has ever made it out of Mattheson's office alive. Once a lawyer has joined the ranks of the Guild, they gradually begin to realize that their contract with Mattheson has given them some degree of control over the laws of reality. For instance, they can use their Objection! talent to force a character to redo an action they just performed or force characters they are speaking with to tell the truth, no matter their personal inclinations. Skilled lawyers can even make powerful Closing Arguments, which have a chance of Paralyzing and debuffing every enemy in a wide area around the Lawyer... at the cost of making her Slow for the rest of the scene. By far the most interesting and powerful talent available to Guild Lawyers is Sign Your Life Away. It allows the Lawyer to draft up a contract that forces anyone who signs it (whether they do so voluntarily or not) to fulfill the terms of the contract, no matter what they might be. With a simple signature, someone might be forced to turn over their entire fortune to the lawyer, assassinate a troublesome pest, commit suicide, or even to fall in love with a specific person. Destroying the contract nullifies the agreement, so most Guild Lawyers are very particular about just where they store their paperwork. Always read the fine print!
  23. Merry Christmas Wyrdos! We have a gift of another preview from Above the Law. This time we are taking a look at the Mage Killer advanced pursuit! Mage Killer is an advanced pursuit from the upcoming Guild expansion, Above the Law. As their name implies, Mage Killers specialize in neutralizing the magical advantages of their arcane opponents. Right from the very start, a Mage Killer is able to use her knowing of Warding Glyphs to enhance her ability to protect other characters with Magical Shielding. Normally, characters who are skilled in Counter-Spelling can use a (1) Action to protect someone from magic, which allows them to add the protecting character's ranks in Counter-Spelling to their Defense and Willpower when defending against magical attacks. Warding Glyphs not only allows a Mage Killer to do this as a (0) Action but also reduces any damage that a protected character suffers from magical attacks by 1. Given that a character can protect themselves in addition to other characters, this means that Mage Killers can become very resistant to magic. Eventually, Mage Killers learn the powerful Magical Wards Talent, which allows them to spend an hour carving runes into a large area. Once completed, the character can discard a card to activate the wards, which shield friendly characters in the area for 24 hours, just as if the Mage Killer had protected them all with her Counter-Spelling. Better yet, any characters who attempt to use magic in the warded area suffer a to their attempt, which is certainly going to be a surprise to any spellcasters the Mage Killer is able to lure into their trap. By far the most interesting aspect of the Mage Killer is Violation of Magic, a Manifested Power which causes the victim to suffer damage equal to their highest Magical Skill, +1 per additional Magical Skill the victim possesses. In addition, the victim gains the Grounded Condition, which flat out prevents them from casting any sort of magic. If you've got a nemesis who tends to throw fireballs your way or one who likes to teleport off to safety after you've put a few bullets into them, the Mage Killer is a good way to shut that nonsense down and end that rivalry once and for all.
  24. Happy Friday Wyrdos! The Other Side can be a pretty weird place! And the ECB Black Ops embrace that weirdness and now fight along side it! Let's take a look. Before Ephraim Wade became Adeodatos, he was detained by the Extraordinary Cases Bureau for questioning. At first, the ECB wrote the man off as delusional and psychotic. Over time, however, more and more of what Wade was saying began to make sense to the agents. His understanding of magic and the Breach was unparalleled, and he seemed to be able to accurately predict the future. When the Burning Man appeared, it just confirmed everything Wade had told them as the truth. Rather than fight against an enemy they knew they couldn't defeat, the ECB Black Ops decided to join the winning team and went rogue. On the table, the ECB Black Ops operate independently, allowing them to cover a lot of ground. Their Webley Revolvers are extremely potent, particularly against targets with Assets, which makes them ideal at hunting Commanders and Titans. Their Knocking Down the Pillars of Reality Action can be very potent, but it also requires a great deal of setup.
  25. Happy Monday Wyrdos! In Malifaux Soulstones are a powerful item to have in your possession. In today's preview, we take a look at a character who can use them better than anyone else! The Soulstone Aficionado is an advanced pursuit from Above the Law that focuses on expanding the use of Soulstones. Aficionados increase the range at which their Soulstones gain charges from dying characters, and each time they complete a step of the advanced pursuit, one of their allies gives them a raw, uncut Soulstone. The more charming the character is, the higher the Soulstone's Lade. As an Aficionado becomes more skilled, they becomes capable of increasingly impressive Soulstone-related feats, such as granting Fast to anyone they heal with a Soulstone to that old staple of 1e Malifaux, draining the souls of everyone around them to replenish an uncharged Soulstone. At the peak of their power, Soulstone Aficionados can actually spend a Soulstone's charges to draw cards from the Fate Deck into their hand, allowing them to mold and shape fate in ways hitherto unseen in Through the Breach. After seeing a Soulstone Aficionado in action, it's easy to see why the Guild is so interested in controlling the world's supply of Soulstones....
