  1. What: 50ss Gaining Grounds 2016 tournament
    When: 25th of September 2016
Where: 't Lab, Oudegracht 207, Utrecht, Netherlands
    Damage: €5,-

It is a regular tournament with the exception that models don't have to be painted. This to allow a new player to participate (and perhaps give the veterans a chance to try something new).
Please note, during this weekend there is also a Magic: The Gathering pre-release at the store which means that it can be crowded.

  2. As my first official event as a henchmen it seemed appropriate to organise a Henchmen Hardcore tournament.

    When: May 28th 2016
Where: Het Lab, Oudegracht 207, 3511NH Utrecht
    Starting time: 9.30
Ending time: 18.00. Tournament will probably end before but there is time for casual games afterwards.
    Entrance fee: €5,-

    Henchmen Hardcore rules:

-All Crews must be led by a Henchman, not a Master.
-The game size is 20 Soulstones.
-All Crews must contain exactly 4 models, no more, no less.
-Upgrades may be purchased, as allowed by the standard rules of Malifaux.
--The size of a Crew’s Soulstone Pool is limited by the Cache of the Henchman leading it; any Soulstones above this amount are discarded.
Any Actions, Abilities, or Triggers which summon models are considered to be “blank” (they may not be used and have no effect on the game, as if they were not printed on the model).
-Only one Scheme will be available.
-The same Crew must be used in each round of the event.

    Set Up
All rounds use the following set up:

    Deployment: Close.
Strategy: Hardcore Turf War. This Strategy uses the Turf War rules (Core Rulebook pg. 66) with the exception that VP may be scored on the first Turn.
Scheme Pool: Assassinate (Core Rulebook pg. 68). This is the only Scheme available and it must always be taken.

  3. Hello,

We are planning to attend with a few Dutch players but could you clarify what the Malifaux schedule will be? Looking at the website it seems that this will be it:

    Friday: GT (1 day?)
    Saturday: Story Encounter
    Sunday: Doubles event

Am I missing something or is this "all" the games that will be played? Or will the GT spread into the other days as well?

    Thanks in advance!

edit: I might just be looking wrong since the ticket sale of the Nationals is on the Daffcon website. Still, some kind of schedule would be great :)

  5. Hello All,

In a spur of the moment thing I once bought a Ramos crew. Upon arrival I already had doubts and I never got to opening the stuff, perhaps only the Electrical Creation has been openend. This means that all the stuff is brand new. They are also all metal, unless otherwise specified.

1x Ramos crew box (Including Ramos, Executioner, Arachnis Swarm (3 spiders))

    1x Arachnid Swarm

    1x Brass Arachnid

    1x Electrical Creation

    1x Mobile Toolkit

1x Miss Step (GenCon only model. Plastic and counts as alternative Howard Langston)

    1x Willie (Plastic)

1x Wave 1 Arcanists Arsenal box

1x Wave 2 Arcanists Arsenal box

I would like to sell or trade it all in one go. As stated in the title I am looking either for cash or a trade for Neverborn (almost all) and/or Resser (selection) models. If you are interested in trading then please send me a PM with what you are offering and I am sure we can work something out.

    Kind Regards,

    Paul

  6. Crooked Men: I'd go with 1.5 as Jewomie said but I don't think there's a huge distinction here. You're rarely going to see a model placed within 2" of the marker, unless you buried the model and you get to unbury it (Death Marshal's Pinebox, Wong's Three Demon Bag, etc).

Well, the whole point is that you can now Lure them into the marker instead of forcing them to move out of it. It makes quite a difference. I guess I will have to include at least one of those into my Seamus crew.

It looks like the Self-Mutilate is still an issue of discussion. I will see why my playgroup thinks it can be cast and let you know. Thanks for the answers so far.

  7. Hey there,

I have been playing a few games now but I still have some questions about the above mentioned models, hopefully you are able to clear it up for me.

First of all, the Punk Zombie. From what I have heard and how I have been playing it he can use his Slow to Die action to cast Self-Mutilate to inflict three wounds on himself and on the target. I would like to know if I have been playing this correctly and if so, why does it work?

Next up is the Crooked Man, not a very complicated figure but this is actually just about the card text. I was under the impression that the v2 cards had the most current text or that they would have been corrected in the Errata files. However, I have the Crooked Man v2 card which says that a model ending it's activation within 2" of a Shafted Marker make it trigger but the 1.5 Rulebook and the v2 card download from the Malifaux website mention that it needs to ends a move or push within 2". I cannot find anything about the Crooked Man in the Errata files and would like to know which text should be used.

    Thanks in advance

  8. Very interesting read so far as I am currently using Seamus in a grow league. He is fun to play but as pointed out before he is a bit of a one man army.

The models in his box set just can't pull their own weight but without them Seamus is fairly useless.

But to stick to the topic of this thread, I do have some questions about using Sybelle.

    1) People mention using something like a belle Alpha Strike. I am assuming that they mean that all belles go at once, destroying their target and then sit around until next turn. How is this achieved? I thought that Sybelle could only companion with one Belle since the companion is one way. Sybelle doesn't have companion to form a chain with more then one Belle. Or am I missing something?

    2) The other thing that I seem to read is that her call Belle action affects multiple belles. This isn't correct is it? The wording on the spells seems to suggest that it only works on one Belle at a time.

    Thanks in advance.

  9. Hey there,

I am currently playing Ressurectionists myself focussing on Nico but also having the Seamus box.

Over here we are really lacking a Henchman and I am thinking about applying for the job but for that I will need two crews which can be used to show interested/new players how the game works. Although I can play Nico vs Seamus I would rather have a crew from a different faction, so that they can see other models and experience different play styles, but I am at loss on which crew to get for this purpose and I am hoping that you guys could give me some advice on what to get.

Since I will have to paint to models, and play with them I would like them to be a crew that I like to see as well so I narrowed it down to the following options:

    - Leveticus

    - Zoraida

    - C. Hoffman

    - Colette du Bois

    - Ramos

Which of these crews will be most suited to play some demo games with. Mind you, it will eventually only be boxed games so no additional blisters should be required to play.

    Thanks in advance.

  10. Hey there,

Perhaps a bit of a newbie question but I am wondering how the Grave Spirit actually works and I am hoping you can clarify it a bit for me.

    1) The model has Companion(Master). Is this the actual crew master (I my case Nicodem) or is this the model the Grave Spirit is linked to?

    2) Magical Extension mentions that the Grave Spirit can cast a (1) spell of the connected Master. Who is this connected master? The model the Grave Spirit is linked to (then why isn't it the linked master?) or the crew master?

    Thanks in advance

  11. While that might be true they don't list any of the newer models or the most efficient models (at least from what I read). Take Nicodem for example, the Malifaux.com website lists the Vulture as an expansion model and while this might be true for casual gaming I believe that the general consensus is that for competitive gaming the vulture is best left at home and that for example a Dead Rider is more suited.

  12. Hey there,

Perhaps my search ability isn't what it used to be but I seem to be missing a thread where new players (like myself) can go and see which models are a must for a certain master to be semi competitive in a tournament environment.

Perhaps you can help me fill out this list? I will update it as more suggestions come in

    Nicodem

    The Undertaker's Lot Box Set

    Mindless Zombies

    Nicodem, Avatar of Decay

    Rotten Belle

    Grave Spirit

    Crooked Men

    Desperate Mercenary

    Onryo

    Seamus

    The Chapel Gang Box set

    Seamus, Avatar of Dread

    Dead Doxy

    Copy Cat Killer

    McMourning

    Canine Remains

    Zombie Chiuahua

    Rogue Necromany

    Convict Gunslinger

    Rotten Belles

    Von Schill

    Molly

    Kirai

    Spirits of Vengeance Box Set

    Seishin

    Lost Love

    Shikome

    Gaki

    Izamu

    The Drowned

    Yan Lo

Master of the Path Box Set

    Izamu

Thanks in advance. At least from me and hopefully this will eventually be a big help to every new resser player.

  13. Lost Love is a legal sacrifice target if he is casting. The spell says you sacrifice a friendly Spirit within 6", not "another" friendly Spirit.

The problem is the guy's dead when the summon effect comes around (ignoring the Wds for now). The rule says it must be entirely within 6" of the summoning model and he is no longer on the board.

Compare this to other rules that sacrifice themselves to summon other things like the Duet. It has the clause "Before the model is removed from play" which makes the spell able to summon things and sacrifice the summoning model*.

*I know the Duet replaces or places, but the "before" clause would be there even if it was summoning.

My post was trying to explain that he indeed cannot do it due to the fact that he will sacrifice himself and will not be able to place the summoned model within 6" of the casting model.

I ment to tell the OP that he needed to sacrifice another spirit model to make the spell work so that Lost Love could that the two wounds and then continue the summon.

So in short. No you cannot summon Onryo in the scenario you presented due to the fact that the summoning model is no longer present when you need to place the summoned model which is a requirement of summoning.

  14. Hey there,

I am about to start painting on my resurrectionst crew (Nicodemus) but I am no idea what kind of basing I would like to have. Perhaps you guys (and girls) can help me out?

I am thinking about something victorian urban with cobblestones but only cobblestones are so boring. I would like to add some detail but I have no idea how to make it myself or where to get the details from. Do you have some links to tutorials or inspirational bases?

    Thanks in advance.

  15. Downloaded all the episodes last night and listening to them today. They are quite good and even followable for someone who hasn't played a single game.

They are also perfect for assembling a crew. Just finished with the last punk samurai from the Nicodem starter box and nearing the end of episode 4.

Just to get back on you wondering about the new rulebook. I just started out and reading the online PDF while holding out for the new book coming out which I will most definitely get. Providing the rulebook online won't stop people (at least me) from getting the hardcopy as well and it will indeed be a must have for getting started, especially because of all the background information.

One request, will you be doing crew specific episodes? Personally I am very curious about a Nicodem or Seamus episode where you go through every model, what they can do, how they work together, how to expand etc etc. Just so that new players are a bit better informed about the possibilities of their crew and they won't have to stare blankly at their cards for hours on end :)

    Keep up the good work.
