  1. That's like a never can win argument though? Like, they keep the old designs, they're lazy. They change them, it's "why did you change a good model". The original Stitched were very good sculpts, why go for something different just for the sake of it when this works just fine?

  2. Only if she is engaged in a melee, which she isn't. From the rules I would say she actually has to be engaged herself. E.g. if the enemy is shooting at one of your models 2" away from the Doppelganger, that is engaged with an enemy model, but both have melee range one so the Doppelganger isn't engage I think you wouuld randomize for her as well. Though what exactly contitutes being in melee isn't super clear, but I don't think it's a stretch to assume you're not in melee if you aren't actually engaged.

I don't even care about her hiring pool,  that's pretty good as it is. I wish she had some way to get more AP. With 3 different actions with costs of (2) available to her, she really seems like a master that is lacking AP a lot of the time. Something like adding a Tome trigger to all her CA actions: (Tome) - After succeeding, Zoraida immediately gains 1 general AP. This trigger may be declared once per Turn.

Wait what's the third (2) besides You Remind me of the Babe and Animal Shape?

  4. Humanity also brought a lot of novel things, Neverborn don't really do booze or guns or machinery. Humans do though.

Not to mention that I can't imagine there being a lot of conflict being Neverborn and Gremlins, some scuffles sure, but they're not natural enemies. Humans however are a Gremlin enemy, and going from "these beings are good at hurting us" to copying them to be able to defend yourselves better isn't a big leap.

  5. One thing I have been struggling a lot with the last few years is deciding on colours schemes for my models, and attached to that, which colours work well together so the mini doesn't look all "disjointed". Anyone have any general advice / good guides on the topic?

  6. But you'd still not know like, what models someone is going to be fielding in a specific game. Like, I mostly play against my friend who plays Gremlins, and I can infer a few things about that, e.g. lower willpower in general etc...

But say, you're playing against Arcanists, yes they might have lots of armour, they just as well couldn't. Doing say, fixed lists makes it easier to counter cause if I know x person is bringing Marcus I know he's not likely to bring much armour etc...

  7. Am I misremembering but isn't there a Large Arachnid in the Twisting Fates story where Ramos shows up at the ruins of the Observatory and has a little fight with Hoffman and that one had a saw come from a hatch? Will have to have a look at the story.

From Twisting Fates pg 11: "The circular saw blade mounted flat against its abdomen came free from its safety locks and spun, cutting through the air."

  8. The old GW specialist games sound interesting, too bad I wasn't financially capable at the time. Thanks for the recommendations and I'll go have a look at these metal/plastic crack.

On x-wing however, purely as an observer  and I may be totally wrong in my views... I can not deny that it looks and sound like a great game; currently 27 on BBG ranking with 11858 voters. What I am skeptical about is the drastic meta-change and/or business model FFG is doing. At first people was fielding 8x ties competitively, then everyone ran dual falcons, now as the company introduce bigger ship this has become the new meta.  I understand as a company that they want to introduce new products, but when you bring a new items and make your past purchases seem worthless does not appeal to me. I'm also interested in Imperial Assault but might just pick it up for the campaign, competitive skirmish looks bleh and they might replicate x-wing's business model.

Since I'm talking about business models I do like what Wyrd is currently doing for Malifaux; you know what you're doing so yeah.

Eh, if anything the meta, even the super competitive one is probably at it's most varied right now. And there aren't really any ships that aren't worth flying. (some options might not be the greatest, but you can still fly them just fine.)

  9. I think Malifaux's list building definitely is the advantage, it allows niche options to exist without suffering from the "not being good enough in all cases to take all the time" syndrome. Also, if you were to hand out a set of Strategy and Schemes to different players, even players with the same faction come up with various different lists for those, which is good.

Side-Rant: I'm not sure if I'd call X-wing low investment, the whole upgrades being spread out over lots of ships (with the Advanced fix being with an epic ship) really ramps up the cost if you don't want to proxy anything (which you are not allowed in Tournaments), I think the cost for Heaver's list was about 275 dollars, with the other lists in Worlds being comparable, which is honestly a lot harder to stomach for me for 4 minis (and having to buy ships I might not even fly) than spending it on a full crew and have options in Malifaux.

  10. You deal damage, you kill the model. before you remove the model as killed you do all your after damaging triggers.

This can include things Like Overpower (Important if you are doing Blast Damage).

    It will include Barbaros' push

That's the thing though, the push is part of the attack action, it's not a trigger. The rulebook doesn't really have an explanation of what you should do in this case.

  11. Hi,

So as far as I understand after damaging triggers happen before the model dies.

You have understood wrong. Model is killed when it is reduced to 0 Wounds (which happens when the model is dealt damage, before after damaging triggers).

Well I meant the description on pg 32 in the big rulebook, where it says After damaging triggers are resolved before the damaged model is removed if it was killed by the damage.
