  1. Trying to stop by just to check things out haven't play in a year everyone lost interest in the game. Jim

Perfect time to jump back in! Why not plan to play in the tourney :)

I'm hoping to have some pretty cool items for those who do participate, so signup, play 3 games, and no matter what, you should walk away with something. No guarantees, but trying to line up some pretty fun stuff!

  2. Well now, isn't this interesting....

I spoke with my wife and daughters, and they felt that our travel plans could change a bit. Most important with that change is that I will now be attending this event. Please put me down as preregistered!!!

    *grin*

Now to figure out what to bring... hmmm.

Well, since I'm hoping to make this an opportunity to let those attending Adepticon flex their muscles in preparation, bring something you think will do well. There should be at least 2 or 3 people attending who will be out in Chicago only a few weeks later :)

Will be great to have you!

  3. Well I don't play Guild, and don't have McCabe, but I am going to have a set for my 10T crews (Misaki, Lynch, and Yan), I think they are a versatile choice. Specifically, for denial situations, oh and a 2ss model that can do Paralyze, yes please!

  4. you could dip in and leave it in simple green (i believe its called in the states) - then brush with a toothbrush and the paint should just come off.

Yup that's the way I do it. Grab a bottle of concentrated simple green (~$4?), and let the model sit in it over night. The next day give it a good brush with your best friends toothbrush :)

Might need to do this twice, but usually once is enough.

  5. Hey, I've let my playgroup know (I'm theHenchman from Amesbury). I might be able to make it, depending on the mood my boss is in when she makes my work schedule. Hopefully you'll get a couple of my guys, I'll try to get them to practice the new Gaining Grounds strategies in the meantime!

Very nice! The more the merrier. If they're thinking of coming and you know the number of guys, just post it up here, so I have a healthy idea of how many tables to setup. Right now I'm expecting at least 10-12, so that's 5-6 tables :).

  6. I have to warn you tho. My painting skills are abysmal.

Hey, they can't be as bad as mine were with my first crew (Lilith). What I love about minis (Malifaux is my first), is that its a hobby. So you make out of it what you put in. I've done a lot of hobbies in the past, but painting and miniatures has captured my heart as a total distraction from my normal work day.

No matter your painting skills, painted models ALWAYS look better than unpainted :). I'm sure they'll look fine!

  7. @Dryzen,

The guys in MA ( both east and west) are great for finding Malifaux games! You'll hopefully find that the Malifaux community as a whole is quite welcoming...

Which brings me to my next comment! We (New Englanders Rolling Dice, NERD) are running an event at the game castle in Londonderry NH on March 30th in cooperation with Wyrd and Geek &Sundrys International Tabletop Day.

I'm hosting a beginner friendly tournament, but even if you just want a demo game that day please stop by with your freshly painted crew(s).

I'll have spare time to show you the ropes and you'll get to see other players playing. Plus its just 7 hours of open gaming fun so if you're available stop by!

Either way, you posted to the right spot. Us Southern NH and MA players are happy to add another to the ranks! Welcome!

Almost forgot... Here is a link to the event on the 30th

  8. Do we know if the Amesbury guys from Toy Soldiers know about this event? We could have more guys from Massachusetts than NH! :Puppet:

Gosh, I don't know if they do. I'm not sure how to get in contact with them all. I've asked them in the past, but that was when we had it Myriad Games. The fact this one is at the Game Castle may make it easier for them to attend.

@Drool_bucket, do you have a PoC who I can contact and point them to this post?

Wyrd is supporting Geek & Sundry's International Tabletop Day and I've decided to couple it with a 1-day Malifaux tournament. The event will be centered around the tournament, but you don't have to participate in the tournament to attend. Other games will be available, including EBO. Stop by for a quick game (or a demo of Malifaux), or attend the tournament running from 12-6pm.

Tournament Info: 3 Rounds, $5 entry fee, prizes for 1st, 2nd (3rd place if enough attendees). PRE-REG BONUS: The first 6 people to Pre-register and attend the tournament will have their entry fee waved! To pre-register you must post on this thread that you are attending, please state "This is a pre-reg request" somewhere in your post to be eligible, the first 6 will qualify.

    What: Malifaux 1-day tournament

    Where: The Game Castle

Address: 123 Nashua Rd. #5 Londonderry, NH 03053

    When: March 30th, 2013

    Time: Registration 11-12, 12-6 tournament.

International Tabletop Info: Nothing special to register for this. Just show up anytime between 11 and 6 pm for some 'open' gaming. I'll have starter crews to demo Malifaux, and a copy of Evil Baby Orphanage. Other games are more than welcome and recommended. I'll probably bring a bucket of my goodies. P.S. I'll be running the tournament so that will take priority, but can multi-task and handle TO obligations while playing. It's going to be loads of fun, and coordinated with a gather of gamers internationally. Be part of the FUN!

I am adding the rules for the Malifaux Tournament so people can prep! (NOTE: These are from the new Gaining Grounds and are pretty much the exact same first three rounds for Adepticon 2013 as this can serve as a pratice tourney for local people)

    • Game Size: 35 Stones

    • Crew Construction: Single Faction. At the start of the Tournament, the player will sign up with a specific faction and follows the Hiring restrictions for that faction as normal in each round.

  10. Glad someone else has seen how good ashigaru can be - one of my favourite book 4 minions at the moment.

I agree with this statement 100%. They are amazing control, surprising fast, and their (1) Lunge is great if you know you're close enough.

I took two last night to help protect some dynamite markers and they did a great job. For 4ss I'm fairly certain I'll take them almost always in my lists over Punk Zombies (I only play Yan as 10T even though I have every rezzer crew almost).

While the zombie/lure would work in 10T with the Orion, I don't see it as useful as the Ashigaru doing what they do well. For 4ss they can kill a few things, maybe protect a location and if they die its not bad since you'll most likely get corpse counters to help Yan if he needs them.

My 25ss list recently for shared Line in Sand was:

Yan (2cache, 3 chi into bone)

    Soul Porter

    2x Ashigaru

    Izamu

    Chiaki

  11. Excited for my first Adepticon....should be fun. Will be able to put faces to names for many people from Twitter, the forums, VASSAL, etc.

I'm just planning on attending the Masters. Will be available for open-gaming/pick-up games all weekend.

    Arriving Thursday morning, leaving Monday.

  12. Really great detail work with your paint,

seriously a combination of the right washes will make your piece look so amazing!

Thanks, my concern is too much wash will make it looks messy. I guess if I water them down. Any recommendations on colors (washes) to complement the colors I already have. I don't want to do much to the model.
