  1. As my Ramos post.... I like to keep things themetic if possible. Molemen sound as if they fit with Marcus.... Also, with 2 ice golems my thinking was I can use them for body guards, or send one up field. Then if needed gamin tossing fun! Ice Golem 1 throws to within 1" of Ice Golem 2. Ice Golem 2 then throws same gamin another 10". So 1 gamin could go 20" expending no AP. Also, giving the Ice Golem Armour of December means I can still move them 16" and make them Armour 4 which should be able to soak most damage up. So moving them up should be easy. Or if I want to just make harder shields to act as road blocks. Today I am favouring getting a Raspi crew. Who knows tomorrow!
  2. Ack! I really dislike the beasts... whilst they may fit in terms of rules, to me it doesn't seem right Ramos running around with a little zoo as well as a garage. This is the issue I have with Arcanists in general.... each master thematically has a pretty defined pool of crew. Raspi with a big ole snake?... doesn't work in my head.
  3. So if I took 4 Steam Arachnids... Turn 1 Joss kills one - giving two scrap Ramos can turn two scrap into 2 Steam Arachnids (both suffer 2 wounds damage) Use one other Steam Arachnid and the two summoned to form a Swarm on full wounds (mitigating the damage from summoning). That leave me with 1 swarm and 3 arachnids plus 1 Electrical Creation from Ramos 0 action.
  4. How does Ramos synergise with the Rail Golem? Only concern about the spider factory is the game turn limit... is it the best use of Ramos' AP just churning out spiders?
  5. For the points it seems more effective. I could get 4 single Steam Arachnids or 2 swarms. 4 arachnids seems weaker - less wounds, more vulnerable, less effective in combat I guess I would get 2 more activations.

  8. Does look like a wooly Nephilim.... Antlers would be different but more prone to breakage. I was thinking of using avatar Raspi as Snowstorm... that way she is subsumed by the spirit in concept and in model.
  9. Hello, Am I correct? Spirit no longer means the same it did in 1.5E. So Snowstorm for example... it says its a Spirit. But that no longer means that it can half wounds or ignore models when moving.
  10. That's according to the card for the BA.... unless I am wrong. Hence why the model is really too big for what it supposed to represent. More Large SPA... Thanks for the posts with pics.... the basing does really look too small.... the only thing I can think Wyrd were thinking is that the body of the spider is Ht1 and would fit on a 30mm base.... like most spiders its all legs.... however, the legs have to go somewhere....! Again, word from Wyrd on their view on this would be interesting to hear.
  11. From a modelling perspective bigger is better. From a gaming perspective this doesn't work...
  12. But the Brass Arachnid is only supposed to be Ht 1... so that suggests a small model. Plus the fact that it is supposed to fit on a 30mm base..... Is this another scaling issue creeping in or will Wyrd upsize the model?

  14. Hmm... thanks! Definitely see how the Brass Arachnid has base issues.... Don't like the Doc Octopus look of the Steamborg... maybe give those to Ramos instead. Joss is ok... Not sure about Ramos himself.... don't see why his cloak is flailing outwards... and the clockwork spider he has is out of scale with the others. Like the steampunk arachnids though..... Hmm.... more things to ponder.

  16. Just curious and for future consideration. How does Hoffman compare to Ramos? They are both construct heavy teams. Can both use the same sort of crew / constructs? Can Ramos hire Guild constructs and Hoffman hire Arcanist constructs? I was also considering Leveticus as again there is synergy with the constructs so I can multiply the use of my crews.

  18. I have the big rulebook on order - just waiting for it to be back in stock and arrive. I have the mini-rule book so I have been reading up on the changes. I have been proxying with counters but not that much chance to play games to test them out. I could play against myself to test out the masters I guess. Just don't want to hang around for wave 2 as that seems ages away. I keep flipping between masters at the moment about which ones I want to get.... can't quite seem to pin myself down to one.
  19. Raspi's minions are a bit of a concern. Ice gamin from their stats seem pretty weak - cheap but weak. The ice golem - solid but easy to hit. Just trying to work out what to spend my dosh on..... don't want to get a master and then find out they don't suit me... been there done that and its frustrating.
  20. How does Nicodem (and any resser for that matter) perform against crews that don't drop corpse counters?
  21. Lack of range is bothering. Prefer to keep things at range. Though I guess inevitably things will get into melee. With Raspi, what is to stop people sending crew after her, she is rubbish up close. I guess: 1) the aim of the game is not kill the master - its complete the strategies / schemes 2) you keep someone bodyguarding her like the ice golem or such... 3) rasp hides in cover using minions as the focus for her castings - so in theory she should not get into melee.... in theory How does Ramos do in games where the opponent doesn't drop scrap? Is he self-sufficient enough? This is why I avoid resser masters.... too much reliance on an abstract resource.
  22. Slighly off topic... but packaging isn't really too important for me. My main concern is that the packaging protects the precious things inside. If it does that then who cares what it looks like... how many of us buy a box set or model and think "um nice box or plastic.. bit of foam.". No.. we rip the packaging open to get at the models inside and then toss the now redundant card/plastic aside (hopefully to be recycled!). Back to scaling... so are we going to get models of different sizes and then need to rebase our old models accordingly?
  23. Hello, Been a while. Just picked up Malifaux 2.0E. I've been going to a club that's started and that plays Thursday evenings. Are you still playing Sundays? Interested in going on Thursdays at all? Are you playing 1.5E or 2.0E now?

  24. Again, concerns regarding Ramos / Rasputina. Both seem pretty pidgeon-holed in terms of the crew they would best suit. Ramos would suit lots of constructs whilst Raspi would be best with any with Frozen Heart. Diverting away from those seems to weaken the crew's overall effectiveness. Some of the models I like in the Arcanist faction are: Gunsmith Oxfordian Mages Metal Gamin Fire Gamin Union Miners This is on top of the usual constructs and December Cult crew models. But how much synergy would they have with Ramos / Raspi? Also, regarding Raspi in particular, is the Ice Golem any better in 2.0E than it was in 1.5E? It got a bad rep in 1.5E with other models considered a better investment. Is that still the case? If so then the box set would seem sub-par and its a big part of the box! Finally, I've been looking for batreps on both but they are hard to find as the batreps seem to be a mix of 1.5E and 2.0E causing some confusion.... anyway this can be separated?
  25. Don't mind the renders, not that bothered about painted miniatures as that's subjective and can, at worst, detract from the appeal of a model. Cohesiveness is more of a concern. Mismatched sizes, colour schemes and such are more important. As has been said before, its annoying for players if, due to production errors, that models are resized on bases that then means previous models need rebasing. If there is an error in production in terms of model scale then surely that is the part that needs rectifying rather than errating the rules so that the model is on a larger base. Unless we are now saying base size is irrelevant and just go with what you think is best.
