  1. Yeah, I think the individual pics were too big and showed off all the flaws.  I've tried re-sizing them - hopefully that looks better.  I'm struggling a bit since my computer died I'm having to learn to do everything on my iPad.  Glad you like them though - thanks.

  2. Are the cards for characters like Miss Terious and Alt Francisco going to be up soon? I know they followed about a week after the others last time - is the same going to happen this time. I'm holding off ordering until I can get cards for everyone I need...

  3. I don't really like browsing on the store - the pictures are quite small and while you can zoom, it only zooms in on part of the image rather than showing the a larger version of the whole image (on my device at least). It would also be good if had a sentence or two at least about what the model represents.

EDIT: Other games have a gallery page that shows the available models with a short description - is there anything like that for Malifaux?

  4. My brother mentioned that he's thinking of buying a crew to paint and was asking about the best places to look at the range of models available.

The Malifaux page here is good for getting an overview of the different masters available https://www.wyrd-games.net/malifaux, but what's a good place to look at the whole range of models?  There are plenty web stores where you can browse through the range, but does anyone know of any other good resources he can look at?

Since I already know the game quite well I normally look at Pull My Finger when buying new models to remind myself of what's out there and then use Google to find images, but since he's interested in models to paint rather than the rules at the moment the wiki isn't really appropriate (and anyway, it often uses pictures of the old metal models or other artwork so isn't a great place to look if you want to browse the range of models).

Am I missing somewhere obvious I should be pointing him at?

  5. I was lucky enough to find an online store that still had some stock of the old metal models so I was able to buy the models I wanted.
    Thanks,
    Dave

    Morning,

I'm looking to buy the original metal Perdita model (the one that came in her old crew box) and the metal Hodgepodge Effigy. Since they're metal I'd be happy to strip off an old paint job. Hopefully there's someone (preferably in the UK) who has bought the plastic versions but still has the old metal ones laying around somewhere that they're willing to sell.

    Thanks for reading,
    Dave
  6. When I'm teaching someone to paint I generally suggest starting by painting all of the base colours, applying washes to get the shading and then highlighting up from there. It's not the only way to do it, nor necessarily the best, but I find it a good way for new painters to start learning.

You should start experimenting with different methods as soon as you feel comfortable to figure out what works best for you and the look you want to achieve.

  7. Afternoon,

It's been a while since I painted any new models for Malifaux but I've just bought a few new models for my Leveticus crew and have been looking what I might buy after I finish these ones...

At some point soon I do want to add a couple more models to my Zoraida crew.  Top of the list is a Nurse but the Wyrd ones don't really fit the 'rustic bayou' look of a Zoraida crew, so does anyone have any suggestions for an alternative nurse model?

How do people feel about this model as a bayou Beckoner? (Do Beckoners even work well with Zoraida?)

Also, this guy looks like he'd make a great tough guy for a Zoraida crew, but I have no idea who it could be who would work well with her - any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance,
    - Dave
  8. Linus - I have a Molly crew already, but it's the metal one - I doubt I'll replace it with the plastic crew - although I do like the art for Philip and his Nanny and am tempted to get that model...

EternalVoid - I've used the resin on bases before (there's some on both McTavish and AZoraida's bases, it just doesn't show up well in the photos), but I remember now why I haven't done a person actually in the water. The resin I use sets level and doesn't really work for water that's in motion as if someone was walking through it. Have you ever tried using resin to get effects such as splashes and waves?

  9. Thanks. The glow is just painted - it looks fine in the photo, but I think it works better viewed from a lower angle.

So your McTavish is actually standing in the water? That sounds cool. I'm about to start work on some Batman miniatures and might do one of the Penguin's thugs standing in water...

  10. Huh - looks like I forgot to post pictures of the last set of models I worked on...

There's some Guild Autopsies and Izamu the Armour for my Resurrectionist crews;guild_autopsies_zps2d864eb2.jpg

And Avatar Zoraida and McTavish for the Neverborn (well, McTavish is actually a Gremlin model, but Zoraida can hire him);avatar_zoraida_zpsec97153e.jpg

  11. Afternoon all,

I finished my Leveticus crew yesterday and thought I'd share a few pics.  I'd never been that keen on Levi, but I really enjoyed his story in the Crossroads book and it inspired me to buy his crew.

Leveticus is probably the most boring model in his crew - I didn't much like the metal version either...

On the other hand, Rusty Alyce is my favourite member of the crew.  I converted her a little to give her a tartan skirt as worn by both the metal and puppet versions of the character.

    Then there's the Hollow Waifs...

Next is a Ronin who didn't fit in my Tara crew so has joined Leveticus instead.

Then there's the Abominations.  I ended up buying both metals and plastics and I think they work well together.

And finally, the Desolation Engine.  I really dislike the plastic version and finding a metal one took ages, but I think it was worth the time it took to track him down...
