Wow! This look awesome. Did you paint them with purple washes over green? I really like the glowy eyes effect.
My Tara also has sword green like yours. Will post the her and Karina when I am done with them in a couple of days.

Our ways of treating the models are different. I really like your minimalistic approach. Why didn't I think about it before painting.
But like what nagash13 mentioned, some spots of complementary colors will defnitely make the models pop out.

What was your inspiration for such an amazing piece? I am guessing there was a degree of thought into the visible light spectrum, namely the ends where you cannot see with the naked eye (Infrared and Ultraviolet)?
Like you said, I was trying to use colors from the whole spectrum. Purple, green and orange are equally spaced on the color wheel. The emphasis is on purple because it is the closest color to nothing.
Personally, I think I might try my hand at freehanding veins and arteries onto my Nothing Beast, while keeping with my fluorescent theme once I get around to painting it. I might have to plagiarize your general color scheme, ChromophileGo ahead. I am looking forward to see how you do your florescent theme.
I would love doing freehand but my freehand sucks. In this instance though, I prefer the model to be more ethereal without the limits of flesh. Hence no veins and arteries.
What color did you prime with?I only prime with black. Even with lighter color models I'll still work with black. I normally do not use wash so black priming is better for the shadow regions.

All the bases are the awesomest I have seen. The freehand are all very good too. This tread has inspired me to try doing something like this.

Obliteration came and there was nothing. From nothing came the beast. The Nothing Beast does not actually exist.
If it does not exist, how come we can see it and hold it in our hands? There are two reasons.
The official reason (quoted from book): The creature is only visible because it chooses (... ...) to not destroy certain strands of light... ....
The real reason: Wyrd can't sell you a "Nothing" model.
Rendering nothing is quite hard, especially when there is something there. These are probably the most difficult models to work with. I was thinking of doing a grayscale model but it will be too dull. In the end, the models are done with purple with highlights to green and orange-red at various areas.
Please feel free to comment and suggest recommendations to improve.

Lovely work! The detail on the cards and the gleaming quality of the doves is perfect; makes them look like they're made of polished silver or even platinum.
Is that same colour going to carry through to the Mannequins and Coryphee?
Actually that didn't cross my mind. I think I'll still do the Mannequins and Coryphee like they were made of wood. But I will try to paint all the metals with NMM. This will be my first time trying that though and I hope it turns out well. Anyone with tips on how to do NMM?

The Best of Wyrd, Guardian is lovely. The NMM on the gold is really fantastic.
D.
I have seen the real model, it was really awesome. The color scheme and technique are all very good. The painter told me he was trying out the "Iron Man" theme. I am happy the model won Best of Wyrd.

I think the nightmare coming out of the closet idea seems good if you can pull it off on a 30mm base. Or monsters coming out of a toy chest. Very classic ideas of where the kids imagine the nightmare to come out from.

I am gonna steal your idea too. I think greenstuff will still be your best bet to create the flames.
-
Very nice highlighting. How did you paint the face? What colors did you use?
-
Very very awesome. Will be looking forward to see the completed piece (in weeks... sob!). I am sure it'll make a great centrepiece for every game.

Wow. This is a cool conversion. Simple, yet full of attitude. Can't wait to see the painted version.

Finally, I got the Lady done. Hopefully my painting can do 'justice' to this awesome sculpt. Instead of using the original colors. I gave her demin jeans and brown leathers. The true bad girl look. Actually the main reason is that I can't do black well.
I hope to be able to find time to shoot a picture of the whole crew together.

This model is wicked cool and your painting made it more so. Seeing it made me wanna play Seamus.
-
That's where I got the idea from. And also noticed that the mini actually has chains across his body. Maybe the original intention is really for him to sling his box.
-
@Deadpool - Thanks. Will be keeping an eye to see your Lady too. I certainly like her sculpt very much, which is why I kept her for last to paint.
@jty3 - Glad you like the idea. You might want to pin the pine box to back of the marshal. More crucially, you might want to pin the model securely to base and weight down the base. Overall this model will still be slightly top heavy.

I just started Malifaux not long ago and decided to pick the Lady Justice as my Master.
This week I've been painting them up and here is my painted Death Marshals and Judge. I attached the pine box to the back of the jumping Death Marshal because I think that makes him look more dynamic compared to him jumping up from the pine box. Criticism welcome.
Next, I will work on Lady Justice and the rest of the crew when they arrive. Maelstrom Games is taking quite long to fill orders recently.
