  1. Nice. I like all the metals on the constructs. Think the sand on the bases could do with a lick of paint though. Kind of stands out as being unpainted next to the painted minis. By the way, what do you think of the hunter? I got him as part of the Hoffman box and quickly retired him after a couple of games as I didn't think he stood up with his SS cost...
  2. Noooo! Stay with him! I really love my Hamelin crew. There's a tactica on these forums (just Google Hamelin tactica) and there's a lot of good advice on a website called Pull My Finger. There's not actually a vast amount to learn with Hamelin, the main thing is generally to make sure you're using "Understand The Soulless" all the time to make everyone insignificant. Also Hamelin can get really brutal if you've got a severe card in your hand; use "Fate Is Meaningless" and then attack someone with the black staff. You'll always be on a straight flip and then you can just drop that severe card out to cause 9 damage. I've killed a lot of powerful enemies with that trick! Also don't forget to spawn rats when you kill enemies; I always forget that it's not just my guys that spawn rats when they die.
  3. Thanks for the info guys. Glad I'm not going to have to make a s**t ton of extra dolls. My first crew's Hamelin so I'm a bit sick of epic horde painting! Good to see some more discussion about the effigies as well.
  4. I've got the Collodi box on order and plan on taking him as a master so I'm just wondering how many wicked doll miniatures I should look at getting. Obviously I'll be using the ones that come in the box but then I'll probably sculpt any extra ones...
  5. Awesome painting! You need a rat catcher right now though. In 25ss games I tend to go with Hamelin, The Obedient Wretch, a rat catcher and a few rats and one or two kids. Save soulstones for making your enemies insignificant. With the rat catcher you effectively get a second activation out of your rats, which counterbalances the fact they are slow. You need to run the rats forward then activate the rat catcher and bring him up, slaughter rats as a (0) action and then you get brand new rats via Voracious Rats, ready to be activated. Can be quite speedy that way.
  6. Thanks for the comments everyone! To sculpt at that scale I use a magnifying lens attached to one of my lamps and tend to use a pin and/or a modelling knife as a sculpting tool for the detail work
  7. Hi there, I'm new to the forums but I think some of the people from my FLGS in Bristol post here as well. Been Malifauxing for a few months now and have gotten a bit obsessed. Picked up Hamelin's box because I thought his was the one with the most consistently decent models. Then it turned out that I had to paint up a shed-load of rats and I sort of lost the will to carry on with him, then I actually started playing and loved it so I've managed to get a 25ss crew together for a league that's being run at my FLGS, with plenty of reinforcement rats (some of which were rushed a little bit, but I think are pretty decent tabletop). Let me know what you think. Will have to get some close up shots of the key members done but for now... Group shop in some nice woodland scenery at the FLGS (the bases are all sculpted out of milliput with extra bits and pieces): Close up of Hammy himself (taken through a lens): Extra rat I'm sculpting: I've got a few more rats and stolen kids since that group shot. To give you an idea: Still to paint Nix up and my second rat catcher but I don't need them until larger games.
