That's odd both my stat cards are fine ( Rami lists the correct weapon for the Dumb Luck trigger and Pere lists the right base size).

I do have to wonder if Ophelia's Special Forces Leader is supposed to lift the cap on the number of special forces you can have because as far as I can tell you can't legally play Ophelia's box set.

Ad 1)

It depends if the spell is targetted or not.

If the spell has initial target and the blast may come out of it as a result of high damage flip, then the Resist means the spells failed and the blast doesn't occur (because you don't flip for damage).

so in that case Francois LaCroix's Gremlin Menace would not move him 5" towards the target if the target resisted?

Just started with Malifaux, lots of questions

1) if a spell has a resist, say Pere Ravage's "Oopsie!" which creates a 6" pulse of damage, a resist only maens the model takes less or no damage, right? The blast still occurred so long as the casting cost was met, right?

2) assuming 1 is right then with Francois LaCroix's "Gremlin Menace" spell, he'd move 5" towards the target irregardless of the resist result. The only affect of resisting the spell would be whether the target's attacks get a

.Right?

3) if Coppelius chooses to use Slumber on a gremlin, does that prevent the use of "Squeel!"? I can see this going either way. "Squeel!" says you have to be damaged by the attack, but on the other hand Coppelius did damage (by virtue of hitting), and then chose to forgo damage in favor of paralysis.

Well, I started with 40k and left because you really can't get a decent tournament-winning army at a reasonable price. I also found the fluff dull for the existing factions/sub-factions, and non-existent if you wanted to play a sub-faction that wans't "primary" to the fluff writers. (I tried to play the Tau N'Dras sept, and there was no fluff to support it at all, even though it was mentioned in the codex. Barely, but it was mentioned.)

I actually really like that 40k has unexplored regions of the map, if you will, where players are free to make up their own chapters and so on. It provides a level of customization that I would miss. Malifaux is a very different game with a much more intimate feel which is fine, but it doesn't allow for you to design your own master for a crew for instance. Obviously there are more differences than that but that's one of the few where I'd say malifaux suffers for the comparison.

Now a lack of much game fluff at all certainly is a problem (one that I'm glad to see some work towards with Firestorm Armada).

Hello, I've recently bought into malifaux. I have yet to play a game but am looking forward to it. My son has gotten the dreamer's crew (along with some daydreams since from what I read they are invaluable for him), and I have an insane idea of painting Ophelia's crew up as the rainbow goblins from the Ulle De Rico children's book.

I realize from reading the book that these two crews are probably a horrible match up as the dreamers group causes all kinds of Wp duels and the gremlins Wp maxes out at 4. Que sera sera.

I do have some questions about Ophelia though-

1) the book says you can only have two special forces miniatures and all of her kin are special forces. I don;t see any rule on her that lets her ignore that restriction but there's got to be one, right? Otherwise you couldn't actually play her starter box.

2) in the rules manual it says that when you use a henchman as a master then you add their soulstone resource to the total amount you have to spend (as well as it setting her maximum starting pool). Where is this resource listed? I can't seem to find it. It's not the cost when you buy her as a henchman right? That'd be sort of perverse.
