  1. Cool idea! Flesh construct and hanged should trade cost imo. You have flesh construct cheaper than black orc blockers. Shikome should get shadowing and leap instead of sprint, imo.
  2. Hey guys, I'll be in Seattle this Thurs and Friday and will be looking to play a little Malifaux. Can someone recommend a gaming store for this? Thanks in advance!
  3. Good point- maybe she would be worth it with a Pandora playstyle. 8 points for that just sounds kinda steep though, considering what Neverborn already have access to.
  4. Brilliant mini's and table. When I see well painted crews and carefully built tables I think, "That's really how Malifaux should be played." Ideally it is that visual standard my friends and I try to attain.
  5. It makes me happy how much you enjoy the new book! It makes me sad that I am order 10,240! LOL
  6. Heya Ravenor! I am "kinda" close (Orange County), but I hardly make it up to LA, let alone Valencia (haven't been to Magic Mountain in years lol). I know a guy somewhat nearby (Thousand Oaks) that used to play 40K but got heavy into MMOs, but I should check in on him and see if he plays Malifaux or would be interested in playing.
  7. I played 2 games today with the hopes of getting more out of the performers. Both games were against a Nico 35ss crew. In Collette's crew I drew a Line in the Sand and the Performer did okay there, just arming a couple of charges and hanging back mostly while Duet/Cassandra/Collette did most of the fighting. Ended up tabling Nico's crew with the big 3. I took Johan too, who seemed wayy slow to be running with the girls. Second game Nico wanted to go again so this time I took a performer in my Viks crew (I needed to fill points). Performer was all but pointless in this fight. I had Distract and Nico had Wagon thing. In the game the performer tried Siren Call 3x to no avail. Finally at the end of the game the performer was the only one towards midfield trying to stop/damage the wagon and fired the derringer in futility, allowing Nico to tie the game at 4VP LOL. So what I learned: 1 Performer seems to be plenty with Collette's crew and is somewhat useful for not-fighting utility. 1 Performer on any other crew is a waste of points.
  8. These are great points! I need to always be thinking about the synergy between models. All of the kills I get in this crew are from Cassandra/Coryphee with Collette getting the killshot (for the soulstone usually), but I often end up using the performer as a placeholder for Illusionist. I should instead consider her non-damaging utility which is the mannequin, illusionist, objective-grabbing, siren call, poison/para, etc. which is really what the performer excels at- everything BUT attack damage. Thing is, I hardly see a use for 2 Performers unless we're talking 35+ss... but maybe my attitude here would change too. Right now I'm playing mostly 25ss scraps and taking Collette, Cassandra, Performer, 1 Coryphee (which seems like lunacy but I love the speed), and usually 1 dove to start along with 1 extra SS. The list is good in that it's fairly versatile but it's a low model count and damage output isn't great.
  9. I am also new and having a lot of fun with this crew...and I'm also really struggling to get the Performers to...perform. I've used siren call to paralyze a target and drop a poison 4 on them, but it was a pretty pointless target. I've tried to line up expensive gift with them and so far haven't been able to get a clear shot at a soulstone user. With how situational all of their abilities are, I feel like the mannequin is the only reliable thing they've got, that and death defying if you need Collette to have 5 wounds... Does anyone swear by the performer? And I mean the performer...not the mannequin...?
  10. Slightly bummed about the delay (#10,000sometthingthathurtmyeyes), but I can't help but be really happy for Wyrd. This sort of success for them is more than deserved. Congrats Wyrd!
  11. Actually it was a bit of a slop job. Just some green stuff and a pattern I found and replicated using instantmold. After a week I decided the shapes were too large and organic, so I simplified the bases: Oh, and I forgot a couple of updates, lol. Yeah the addiction is still raging! A week ago I bought a Kirai crew and painted them up: And then yesterday (after talking myself out of buying a Collodi crew because my niece really wants those for herself) I bought a Viktorias crew in the hopes of picking up new players and possibly doing demos: Start to finish, the crew took me about 9 hours to paint, as I pretty much stuck to basic tabletop quality, so nothing fancy. Painting mini's up is kind of my MO ever since I started tabletop gaming. I don't like fielding unpainted minis so I try to work quickly, paint up to a standard, and then I can always go back and repaint (which is pretty fun too). So now 4 weeks in and 4 crews, lol. I need help!!! Honestly though, I really love everything about the Showgirls (theme, playstyle), so I consider them my "main" crew to play, and the rest of these are just spares or alts. Thanks for the feedback guys! Let's hope I can stave off my inkling for that Lucius crew!
  12. Although I am really big into Malifaux right now, when people ask what I play my first answer is Blood Bowl. But anyone who knows anything about Blood Bowl would agree that it stopped being a "GW" game a long time ago. But yeah, I played 40K for 20 years. It was my first and my favorite for the majority of the time. I then had a brief stint in Fantasy, and then really Blood Bowl which stuck for a long time. The main problem we had with Blood Bowl is gamer ADHD. Avid Blood Bowlers are die-hard, and IMO one of the most mature fantasy tabletop communities. But we are few and far between and our leagues are often stunted due to the influx and exodus of a larger, fickle gaming crowd. It got to the point where I was heading out for a game twice a week and not ever getting one (besides the numberous demos I run for prospective players). I was tempted to go back to 40K (still have every miniature I've ever owned), but the game itself is just so boring to me I can't stand it. So a couple of people recommended Warmachine to me... Okay so I bought 20 points of Retribution and painted it up, and then as I read and watched games I came to realize that the "Warmachine crowd" don't tend to be the folks I'd ever want to game with (sorry if that sounds judgemental WM players, but most WM players out here are massive douches). So I still have that army (painting a Myrmidon mini as I type this, just because I own it), but to me this is only barely a more tolerable option to 40K, simply because it's less boring (but chock full o' douches). Luckily for me though, I stumbled upon Malifaux, and I've only played 4 games so far, but I've painted up three crews (had to talk myself out of buying Collodi's box today, lol!). I LOVE the miniatures. I enjoy the game. This is something I could play, something I could get into...probably not as much as Blood Bowl, but my investment in mini's was well worth just painting them and having them anyway. I expect I will have the same problem though, that I have with Blood Bowl. Gamers will ooh and ahh and say "Yeah I'll play yeah I'm into it, yeah I'll be there" for Malifaux games, play twice...and then go back to 40K/WM, while our core 3-4 players will soldier on between this game and Blood Bowl (we'll run alternate seasons). I have thousands of dollars invested in 40K and would still be playing it if GW had the slightest clue as to how to not ruin their games and alienate their customers. I will still keep 40K/WM in my back pocket either as an "in" to find mature, fun players who I can sell Blood Bowl/Malifaux to, but "The Big Two" in tabletop mini games are flat, boring, (or douchey) excuses to spend money compared to Malifaux and Blood Bowl. Someone at the hobby store today asked me how I liked Malifaux compared to 40K/WM. I smiled and said "Those two things aren't even games compared to this." But more people play em. And Whoop! There It Is sold a lot of records too.
  13. The only game that can even remotely hope to compete (for me) is Blood Bowl. I also own bajillion points of 40K and a Warhammer Fantasy High Elf army, but those are are teh sux now. When I started Malifaux (2 and a half weeks ago) I had just finished painting a retribution army for warmachine, but now I realize that game sucks too so now it's only Malifaux or Blood Bowl!
  14. Looking good so far! I'm currently working on a Kirai crew too, so you're providing some inspiration for others!
  15. And I haven't played a game yet! Consider this my intro and a desperate plea for any help I can get! I'm a long time gamer, many years in 40K, Fantasy, and Blood Bowl- which as of right now is still my favorite tabletop game. However, since we can't seem to keep a league going here- I started to collect a warmachine army just to get some games in, when my brother introduced me to Malifaux. But really, it is the immensely characterful mini's that sparked my interest. I started off building an arcanist crew, since our small group did not have any arcanist crews yet. Based on my limited knowledge of what was out there, I started to build a Rasputina crew: And continued to add. I found out that the Wendigo is Rasputina's totem, and was also told it is a good idea to have a silent one. I also really liked the December Acolyte mini, so I picked that up. I also picked up Myranda, because it said arcanist and was a cool looking mini. Sorry about the blurry photo here. I'll retake that pic soon. Come to find out here that Myranda is kind of a tough fit unless you have something very specific in mind...doh... Here's the entire Cult of December crew I own. So I was ready to go there, but then I saw the showgirls mini's and was completely blown away! So here we go again! I bought the boxed set and coryphee. Mannequins: And Coryphee: Performers: Cassandra. And of course Colette: So now I have a showgirl crew...and from what I can tell I need doves. None of the local stores have any, so I may have to order them. Anyway, it's been 2 weeks since I began my interest in this game and I have 2 crews...and that Kirai box is calling! One day I might get a game in and actually learn how to play this. But until then- I simply love the minis!
