Yeah, I'm happy with how the coat came out, but, if I did it again, I think I'd do what you're talking about and go with a way simpler version, it wasn't really worth the effort of that much detail...

Thanks!
The hat was probably the hardest part: if you can find a good piece to replace that instead, I'd recommend the extra leg work and cost over fiddling around with it (because his hat is incredibly tall and has pretty specific curves.

Thanks!
Next up, I messed around with the giant Death Marshal, for my Kingdom Death collection, since their models are often kind of static. (notes 'n' more pics)

Thanks!
IIRC, it's a Death Marshal pistol without the bayonet?

Thanks! One without said lighting effects, though... (notes)

Thanks!
Yeah, it's KD, which has a lot of the same influences as Dark Souls. They've got pretty similar aesthetics, though KD has way larger and more detailed guys.

Not Malifaux, today: I normally only post Wyrd guys here, but I'm proud enough about my Dragon King that I felt like sharing the big guy (the small mini there is 35mm on a 30mm base). Notes and larger pics on my blog

Thanks! Yeah, I've found that I really do prefer to work in a slightly more gestural style, and a lot of that comes from my background in illustration.

I disagree. I think that offensive bury is still best against specific targets. When you're offensively burying, you're generally spending resources that could be spent attacking instead attempting to bury, so generally not causing damage.
Also, copying actions, while it can be valuable, is more resource-intensive than doing the action with the model that actually possesses it.
This all speaks to it being inefficient.
I find it better to either surgically try to remove problem models, knowing you have the cards to do it (or make them fight hard to stop you) or use Glimpse like a weaker version of Horror duels to drain their hand. Having an expensive, small crew like the above probably means you're not forcing a high duel count, so would be on your back foot with your chosen strategy.

Thanks. I'll definitely need to look at those new minions, and the adze does look like a nice addition. Roten does sound strong, I don't know how valuable she'll be in a crew that doesn't lean heavily on undead, but worth checking out.
The Obsidian statue does sound pretty solid with Mei, and wow, that Charmer sounds like it would allow her to turtle up even more...

I don't understand why you wouldn't pick
-something actually cheap like Bones
-a pack of 3 malifaux guys for not much more, that you would be more likely to use, even if not in great condition
...40k details are so chunky that I don't feel they're very solid practice for how thin most malifaux things are...

Thanks. Sorry, though, I should have clarified, I have a pretty extensive collection for those factions, so am mostly talking about more recent additions, such as Talos.

So, after being away from the game for a bit, I'm looking at getting back in to things, and was looking for advice. I know that there have been a number of errata cards, and plan to get the recent update decks.
But, I wanted to get back into a few masters, and wanted to check what makes sense to get... the last Malifaux stuff I played with was the beta with the new masters, and hadn't played much from the previous book. So, are there any of the below things I shouldn't bother with, and are there any tools you think I'm really missing out on?
Tara: I'm proxying the emissary and archie; have the forgotten marshal; didn't like the Scion, was considering a Draugr to summon.
Lucius: I have changelings and terra cotta warriors, I was planning to get Queeg and Dade; the rougarou seem strong with him
Mei Feng (not playing as arcanist): mechanical porkchop; sparks?
Zoraida: wisps, air pirates or maybe just the first mate?

Thanks, all! I felt the teal Seishin is probably my best drybrushing in ages... I normally don't like the technique, but the texture was just right so I was able to really go for it.

So, this was an odd project, as I was basically giving someone else's very standard paint job some more punch (which usually only happens when I get irritated at something old that I painted...): a few notes and bigger pics on my blog

Thanks! Yeah, I was very happy with the saturation I was able to get in the green-orange-purple-teal combo

Awesome! I actually am slowly ramping up after I burnt out on Malifaux after whichever beta I was in, so nice timing

So... life's meant I haven't been very active in gaming, recently.
Thanks, luscious. That Kirin model was definitely pushing outside my comfort zone; glad it worked.
Returning from said silence, though, I just got through painting up the TTB version of Hannah, and am pretty happy with her (notes):
