  1. Hi all!

With the new smaller rulebook being sold out everywhere, I'm stuck with my new cards, but no rules.

I'm curious; are the new rules dramatically different from the past? The cards seem mostly similar, so I reckon the changes are minimal. I found this article listing the changes, and was wondering if this was a complete list of changes; or whether there are hundreds of tiny little wording changes in between that have a significant impact on how the game is played.

    Thanks!

  2. Oh I meant the Shifting Loyalties Campaign Deck. I happened upon itin an online shop.

I decided to pick up the cards as mentioned by you guys, as well as Lazarus, Mechanical Rider and the Hoffman starter; mostly because I may have a use for his robots, but also because Guild is easily my second pick anyway.

Speaking of Guild, how is Peacekeeper? It's an awesome model (and frankly the resculpt still looks kinda similar to the old one....guess that isn't surprising).

  3. Thanks guys for the replies!

Curious; there seems to be several scheme or mission packs out there; what are they?

Also, is the fate deck still the same as Mk1?

I'm slightly saddened that I can't freely do both Undead and Constructs in this edition as I could in the past; especially since my collection is mostly undead but I liked my constructs too. I'm contemplating getting Lazarus, but what other constructs should I look at getting? The Hoffman starter seems to have some decent stuff in it.

    Thanks again!

  4. Greetings all!

I started Malifaux some years back, but stopped playing due to the lack of a community in my area.

Now I've noticed that the game is in a new edition, has totally new miniatures, and (I assume) entirely different rules. As a returning Mk1 Leveticus player (which still has a fair bit of random undead and constructs), what do I need to purchase to get up to speed?

Also, how has he changed? I loved Leveticus in the previous edition because of his bottomless depth and flexibility; everything is fair game to him, in both list building and on the table. What models should I consider getting to accompany him?

    Thanks!

  5. Disclaimer: I will go search through the history in the forum when I've got more time, but my schedule is a little tight so I'm posting this first, hoping to spark some discussion

    Greetings all!

I left Malifaux a couple of years ago, shortly after Dead Rider came out. I heard that the game is now dramatically different, and am thinking of returning.

    That said:

    1) How has the game changed? (P.S. are the rules available legally online?)

    2) How has Leveticus been? How has he changed?

    3) What works best with him?

    4) What is the current game point size, and what would be a recommended list for him?

    Thanks!

  6. I'm thinking they surely gave him some gimmick/mechanic that makes him better than "just another rider", I recall someone saying that he gains an ability or something for every rider in play, maybe the whole idea is to just buff him to unholy proportions and send him in.

Either way, what did Leveticus get in the latest book? Its fairly exciting given that he should, in theory, get several models for himself every book...

  7. I was flipping through some of the (many other) Kirai threads but most of it was just talking about playing her, but no one seemed to have like a list of things to buy for her. Her ability to summon/evolve stuff seems like you'd need more than just one or two models of each Spirit, but how many should I go for?

A list of things worth purchasing for her (and how many of each) would be great, thanks!

  8. This question has been bugging me since the day I laid my eyes on the rules that said I get to pick my list after the mission is known (which, to be honest, was only about two weeks or so ago :P):

When expanding your collection, do you go all the way with one faction or spread out and buy whatever you like from any faction? I'd imagine that having more figures from a faction gives you significantly more choices, thus making it better for, say, tournament games where you are stuck with your faction but it does mean that sometimes you end up buying models you don't really like. "Spreading out" seems to be more of a casual approach where you just buy what you like.

What do you guys think? Is it truly just a "do you want to play competitively or do you just want to collect" situation? Or is having a large collection an overrated advantage?

    Thanks!

    P.s.

In my case its a little complex, I chose Leveticus, which by himself, has forced me to buy a whole ton of random odds and ends from all the different factions. The issue is Outcasts are less unified and frankly, I've got a whole lot more Resurrectionist stuff than any other faction.....

If anyone has any input on my situation I'd greatly appreciate it :)

  9. Looking at Sonnia's card, she seems like one heck of a tough nut to crack with Leveticus, probably forcing you to aim at her with your minions while Leveticus goes around targetting everyone else - not necessarily the kind of plan I'd like the most.

However, given that my Guild-playing friend is getting her, the question that comes to mind is, should I even bother trying to beat her with Leveticus? Or should I just go with, say, Freikorps and/or Vik's/Ronin's?

    Thanks!

  10. I had my first game of Malifaux on Friday (both "1st game ever" and "1st game with Leveticus") against Lady J, and it went really well! Enjoyed it thoroughly, despite me forgetting that I get a new hand everytime he dies and respawns (would have helped me, because towards the end of the game I only had a few useless cards in my hand after Alyce died :()

A thought crossed my mind though, once my friend gets Sonnia, wouldn't I suffer terribly against her with Leveticus? Where should I go from here?

  11. Got a little bit more money, now I'm torn between buying more stuff for Leveticus, or to get a second Master (really interested in Hamelin, like rodents) to give myself more options when playing.

Just for the record, I currently own the Leveticus box, Desolation Engine, extra Waifs, Canine Remains and Ryle. Was thinking of adding a C.Hoffman box (for the Guardian/watcher....or should I just buy their blisters?) and either a Dead or Hooded Rider.

    Opinions?

    Thanks!

  12. Often, the forum (and the entire Wyrd website) gives me an Error 403. Sometimes I also get a "forbidden" (I think thats 403), and SOMETIMES although far less so, the main website ends up looking like an admin control panel for a website server or something. I forgot the name of the company though.

So what I usually do is I spam reconnect until I get an IP that can access your website.

Can you please look into this?

    Thanks!

  13. I spent the last hour flipping through some threads, I noticed some trends of models with him......

    - Riders (Hooded or Dead? Or both, assuming you could?)

    - When people say "Belle" do they mean Bele Noir (iirc thats her name) or, as you mentioned, Rotten Belle's?

    - Ryle

    - Canine Remains

    - More Waifs (will get this, surely.)

    - Watcher

    - Guardian

    - Punks

    - .....more steampunk abominations? I can see my four running out really fast, especially if I start with four on the table.....

Sigh I'm confused though, in an ideal world with a lot of money I'd just buy all in one shot, but I can't...what should I give priority to?

    Thanks.
