  1. Correct, that is a Simple Duel added in after a model is damaged by Condemned Whispers. It is a separate duel from the opposed duel made by Condemned Whispers.
  2. Abilities like, Harmless, Terrifying, and Irresistible have no attackers or defenders. They are simple duels. Simple duels have no attacker or defender. To have an attacker and defender, there must be an opposed duel-both players need to be flipping cards.
  3. Thanks for finding that. Companion, so complex. :dizzy:
  4. You can still companion if the model is the last model to activate. They are still separate activations. Its why abilities like poison don't affect the model until they actually activate. Ophelia can interrupt the Kin Companion chain to force a non-Kin model to activate before the rest of the Kin. Pacify is no different. The model just has to go last in the Companion chain, and has to be the last model to activate in the crew.
  5. Yes but I don't remember where. Its about resolving abilities/effects, must versus may. Must abilities/effects take precedence over abilities/effects that may happen. Pacify means your models MUST go last. Companion means you MAY activate simultaneously. Pacify is a MUST so it overrides Companion allowing it to activate early.
  6. Live for Dance is a (0) action. Models can only take one (0) action per activation. Subconscious Actions allows the model to take 3 Different (0) actions. The (0) actions all have to be different ones. You cannot choice the same one twice or three times. Only once.
  7. 1. Yes, the scheme does not say insignificant models don't count. 2. No, the model can make 3 Different (0) actions. 3. Yes she can but only if Colette is the last model in the crew to activate. If you would still have models in your crew to activate after the companioned models activated, a model affected by pacify may not companion. 4. Yes she can, a model always has line of sight to itself. 5. A model can cast spells as long as the spell does not have the symbol next to the spells range.
  8. The Specialist loses his ranged weapon for the rest of the game. Santiago and the Gunsmith get to keep their ranged weapon.
  9. It's a pulse. Pulses do not affect the acting player unless otherwise stated.
  10. The use of the pulse is so that it is allowed to be used in melee. It says "ranged strike" because that is much easier than saying " 'strike using the flamenwoofer Cb.' " It's a pulse treated like a ranged attack. from the Errata "NOTE: - 'Detonate Tanks' creates a pulse that doesn't directly do damage so the Freikorps Armor does not protect against it. The Strike generated by 'Detonate Tanks' counts as being made by a Flammenwerfer so ignores Armor and cover modifiers." Its kind of like Stitched Together's Creepy Fog. It't not terrain, but treated like terrain, so Masters of Malifaux and Hunter can't see through it because it is an ability. The only person that can see through it is Hans. Detonate Tanks is a pulse treated like a ranged attack, but it is still a pulse and therefore can be used in melee.
  11. I have never personally used Sue, but in theory he should be awesome.
  12. I am pretty sure you can use it in Melee as it is a pulse. Pulses are not ranged attacks. The pulse creates an effect allowing you to make the ranged actions. If the skill said all models "within 6 inches make a ranged strike" and did not have the pulse symbol, I would say no you can not make the strikes. But the skill is a pulse, not a ranged strike. The model is not attempting to target a model with his flamethrower. He is blowing up his tanks....BOOM. Booms are not ranged attacks; they are shock waves. Shock waves are not ranged attacks.
  13. From Book 3 I would take: The Brutal Effigy - will give you some much needed healing. Sue - good against Terrifying models (your opponent will probably take Coppelious too) and Circle of Flames is just awesome. He also can boost Wp and has anti-casting abilities. From the other books I would take: Judge - is a beast, Flurry will easily take down Teddy in one activation (if you can get him close enough) Austringer - ignores LoS (good agaisnt Stiched Together) and can Deliver Orders Witchling Stalkers x2 - Bounce spells off them to blast the enemy, then Violation of Magic them to create new ones. Magical Weapons against spirits. Watcher - Fast mobile model Plus the Avatar you want...That's 37 pts with 3ss added to the cache. For schemes I would take Bodyguard and Kill Protegee. With 7ss, Sonnia will be hard to take down. It also means your opponent may try to throw more models at her allowing your models some much needed freedom. If you really need speed, drop Sue for another Watcher and another cheap model of your licking, the Exorcist can replace some of Sue's abilities, but is slow and easy to hit.
  14. And do you know what strategy you are playing, and the deployment type (diagonal, standard, corners) or will they be random?
  15. The Alpha Strike allows Lord Chompy bits to beat the poo out of your models still in your deploy zone on his first activation. Before I try to offer advice, how many points in the game?
  16. I would think you would still get to make the strikes. In terms of what the model "would actually be doing," he is blowing up his tanks. It's just a massive blast in all directions. I think that's why it is a pulse. The pulse creates an effect allowing you to make the ranged strikes. If the skill said all models "within 6 inches make a ranged strike" I would say no you can not make the strikes. But the skill is a pulse, not a ranged strike.
  17. Do you have access to all the Guild models? What models has the Dreamer player used against you in the past? What do you mean by cheat sheet? Has he used the Alpha Strike before? You will beat him. We will devise a strategy.
  18. I have used Baby Kade with the Dreamer before, vs Leveticus. Kade and the Dreamer/LCB were the only models that didn't die. We were playing Shared Deliver a Message and there was no stopping the Dreamer. Bringing Teddy and Kade with the Dreamer actually has potential. The Dreamer and Kade can put Teddy wherever he needs to be while Teddy stays out of danger, or Kade can use Teddy to get out of danger. Candy I haven't tried yet.
  19. Spells with are used to clarify if the model can cast it in combat, and used to see if i can hit a model that has special abilities or rules against ranged attacks.
  20. Totally, totally missed that :club: Well, it seems actions like Gamble Your Life that have damage flips would be RAI why leave them out, so it would have a Combat Modifier.
  21. The reason I'm debating is because when the term "Combat Modifier" is used, it's used under the Strike Attack Sequence p42. The term is not used anywhere else. If it was, I wouldn't be arguing my case. These actions are not Strikes. If they are not Strikes, why should they follow the rules for Combat Modifiers?
  22. Correct. For example, Self-Loathing has a damage flip but no combat modifier. You win the duel flip two cards and pick the lowest. So similar actions with damage flips and no combat modifier should not follow the rules for determining how many cards to flip for damage.
  23. Back on topic....an opposed duel does not necessarily mean its a combat duel. Spells with the melee and ranged symbols are classified as melee and ranged attacks to determine "a Combat Total." Spells without these symbols do not have combat modifiers. Actions and some spells don't have these symbols; therefore, they are not Opposed Combat Duel = No Combat Fate Modifier.
  24. I know they are attacks I shouldn't have put that word in my post. But they are not Strikes. The combat modifier falls under Strikes. Attacks and Strikes are two different things. Strikes are Attacks. Not all Attacks are Strikes.
  25. For Actions like Gamble Your Life and Hangman's Knot, are they affected by combat duel totals for , , or even flips? We had always played yes, but then realized they are not Stikes, so played the that it was just a single flip and could be cheated if the action said "it may be cheated." I know I'm probably answering my own question, but just making sure.
