  1. Those are very nice trophies. Were they from a website or local shop. I've got a few ideas but I think I might need to go back to the drawing board after seeing these.

  3. I'm a bit snowed under with college work and self assessment tax deadlines just now. I can try to make one but is there anything that is still a concern. Edit: Self Assessment finished (yay!!!) Still got a college deadlines though. Will try to work on a rules pack. Not sure what I am missing out on though
  4. Great idea. I'm sure you'll have a great time. take a photo or two as well
  5. Following a few conversations with the local players, it was felt that nobody would really benefit from a "friendly" tournament. I think it all went a bit squint when there was some mis-communication around emailing the lists to me. I had no intention of vetoing anything. I just didn't want to have 20 sheets of paper getting thrown at me during registration. As a result, there will be no restrictions on lists. This should settle any outstanding issues with potential attendees.
  6. History: Last year I gave an all day demo at Livingston Battlegrounds Skirmish 2011 Wargaming event, which was a major success. This year I had planned to have another demo day, however the committee have asked me to investigate and organise a Malifaux tournament to be held on 20th October. There will be other tournaments from Flames of War and Warmachine happening at the same time. They would like to make it the biggest Malifaux tournament in Scotland and for it to become a reoccurring event to be organised for future years to come. EDIT: Update. Skirmish XII Wargaming event. Introduction. Skirmish Showdown is a Malifaux Tournament organized in association with Skirmish XII and Livingston Battlegrounds Date: Saturday 20/10/2012 Location: Lanthorn Community Centre, Dedridge, Livingston, Scotland, EH54 6NY Places available: 24 places Format: 35SS / Single Faction / Fixed Shared Strategy / 4 round Tournament. V1.5 Rules Pack: Here
  7. Cheers for the feedback. One of the downsides to this is that you only see what is posted here. Not the pages of discussions and thoughts that are on the Facebook page for "Scotland's Malifaux players" where all the local players share their opinions. I felt that 25 points was a good starting point. The LGS where this tournament is based is still in it's infancy regarding Malifaux. Some people will still have a single boxed set or single crew per faction and will have played less than 15 games. It's perfectly possible that they might leap forward in the next 2 months and we suddenly change the format to incorporate this but I'm not holding out for that. We have a big Warmachine presence at the store and I was waiting for the release of SR2012 to see how the changes affected the local view of the SR format. For the 3 shared events I wanted them to be different enough to SR format to make it memorable but at the same time welcoming to players. Because we're still over 2 months away from the event, I really wasn't expecting someone to plan everything out just now and being honest, I wasn't expecting anyone outside of Central Scotland to even look at this thread. However, at the start of March, I was planning to: 1) Make any amendments as needed, 2) Publish the 3 shared strategies, 3) Get people to confirm attendance, 4) Get people to email lists to me 1 week in advance. Regarding filth lists: My main concern is that nobody leaves having had a negative experience. I understand that there is only so much I can do towards that and at times it will be like trying to brush water uphill (think about it for a minute) I was hoping to try and leave it up to the good will of players and the principle of "would I take this list against a new(ish) player" I have drafts on my pc of formats for tournaments in May, July, September, October(convention event) and the LGS anniversary in November. The points will increase to the 35-50 bracket over time but this tournament is really meant to be a beginner event to bring all the players together.
  8. I like it. I've never been brave enough for OSL. I've painted my little brother's Warmachine army, not because he's handicapped, just useless with a paintbrush. /salute to your awesome brother.
  9. Updated Provisional Attending 1) Tattyted 2) Drew Fyfe 3) Alan Kennedy 4) Irving Kerr-Smith 5) Chucklemonkey 6) Chucklemonkey's friend 7) Malandres (provisional) 8) Euclid (provisional) 9) Kenzie 10) Kevin Finlay 11) Steve Clark (Inverness) 12) Ewan (Inverness) 13) Archie (Inverness) 14) 15) 16) 17) 18) 19) 20)
  10. I have Lilith, Rasputina, Sonnia and Nicodem. I felt that gave a good mix of the different play styles around. I consider them to be straight-forward and easy to teach, but with enough depth to attract all levels of players. Just my 2 cents though.

  14. Although it didn't look it at the time, I was having to think fast once ASonnia hit the board. I got home and re-read the cards realising where I was missing the key links to getting Kaeris to really shine. Will be looking forward to another match on the 21st Dave. I've posted the details of the March tournament in another thread on this board.

  16. I use 4 ice pillars. Remember that once they are destroyed, they area they covered counts as difficult terrain.
  17. Morning Kenzie. I wondered when you'd post them up here for sharing.
  18. I've got the same thing with the PDFs on my phone. Great for referencing.
  19. This sold within about 1hr of me posting it. I forgot to update this thread.
  20. Hi Guys, I’ve got a Protectorate of Menoth army looking for a new home. 55 points in total. All base metal and unpainted. These were previously painted and have been stripped using Nitromors, then rebuilt and pinned as far as possible. I’m getting rid of them because since getting a job and becoming a Henchman for Wyrd Miniatures, I have had no real time and desire to play them. They are currently gathering dust and to be honest, I could use the money to get other minis I am going to use. Anyway The High Reclaimer High Executioner Servath Reznik Grand Scrutator Severius Thyra, Flame of Sorrow (still in Blister) Jacks – All Metal Dervish Devout Redeemer Repenter Revenger Crusader Choir of Menoth (4 grunt models, no leader model) Deliverer Sunburst Crew (Leader and 2 Grunts) Deliverers (Leader and 5 Grunts) Holy Zealots (Leader and 5 Grunts) Holy Zealot Monolith Bearer Visgoth Juviah Rhoven & 2 Honor Guard Paladin of the Order of the Wall The Covenant of Menoth Menoth tokens Menoth MkII card pack, all in protective sleeves. Protective foam and cardboard case from KR multicase To buy this from an online store would cost £220. What I am asking for is £80 for everything, excluding P&P, which I reckon would be about £20 for recorded delivery due to the weight. I’m in Scotland, so if your local we can arrange a drop-off, otherwise Recorded Delivery.
  21. Listened to it whilst working Nightshift. Really enjoyed it.
  22. I'm not sure if I will continue to play this crew just now. I originally got them for use a demo crew and whilst they've gone down well as a demo crew, I'm just not getting a positive response from the players outside of demo games. The whole Mortimer > zombie companion Nicodem > Reanimate zombie + Fog seems to have them not enjoying the game as much as I would like them too as they can struggle to combat this tactic. I'd rather leave them in the box just now. However, I did get my hands on Miss Pack and I can see myself adding Bette Noir to the list of models to get.
  23. Just a quick post to show off my finished Nicodem crew. This crew was painted my myself, who done the punk zombies and local PG Alan Kennedy, who painted Nicodem and Mortimer as a commission, due to a long standing joke that I just can’t paint eyes on models. Group shot of the zombies, who were painted in about 6hrs whilst watching BBC Iplayer. Mainly painted using blocks of P3 colours and undiluted GW washes applied to give this dirty, aged look. Close up of Nicodem and Mortimer. Both Alan and I are particularly pleased with the outcome. I am also really glad that my attempt at a unique base for Nicodem worked out. Looking at these models, I might just add a touch of static flock to the base to link them with the zombies. Group shot of the whole crew, positioned on a piece of scenery I built for use with my Demo Table at the Skirmish 2011 wargames event in Livingston. Whilst scratch-build in a hurry, I think it gives a nice little effect. I plan to add to the piece to make it a real terrain feature.
  24. Just a note to say that I'll be running an all day demo table at Skirmish 2011 on: Saturday 22th October, 8.30am - 5.30pm Address: Lanthorn Community Education Centre, Kennilworth Rise, Dedridge, Livingston,EH54 6JJ For more info on Skirmish 2011: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Livingston-Battlegrounds-Skirmish-2011/163237507085920
  25. With Skirmish 2011 rapidly approaching, I decided to sit down and finish these markers. I had held off on them due to never being happy with my vision of how they would look finished. However, after I had nearly glued my fingers to the markers too many times to admit, I finished them last night and I’m actually happy with the results.
