  1. Just some details on what we're planning on doing for the evening event during the UKGT.

This year we're planning a p*** up in a brewery. Literally.

We're hiring out the Taproom at York Brewery from 1900 until 2330 for those who would like to come along. There will a buffet and beer and maybe some other stuff. No doubt boardgames will be getting played as well as loads of people have offered to bring games, and Clousseau has offered to run a GT quiz.

There's a cost of this as we need to cover the room hire and the cost of the buffet, so it will be £10 per person which will be separate from the main GT ticket (i.e. this isn't include in the GT ticket). I have enough space to cover everyone who has a GT ticket, so this event is ONLY available to GT players in the first instance. If there's still space once all the players have decided whether they want to come then there may be spare places for other people who don't have GT tickets. Equally, if you are playing in the GT but can't make this evening do (or don't want to come) then just let me know as well so we can cross you off the list.

Tickets are available by sending £10 AS A GIFT via PayPal. My email address is as my forum name at sky dot com. The cut off for tickets is 1st October, and entrance to the event is by advance payment only. Please let me know when you're buying the ticket who it is for if you're buying more than one.

Hope to see you all there, it should be a good night :)

  2. I've just booked the Blossom Street south Premier Inn in the city centre for £45 for the Saturday night (my house is a long way from York when you've had a skinful). If you do decide to stay in the city centre there's a frequent bus service from the station to right outside the venue.

  3. Generally I am better off using my AP to assist my crew in actually gaining me VP.

+1 to what EternalVoid said. The Voodoo Doll is cool and all, but it's so massively resource intensive in AP and cards, I don't find it worth doing. I prefer the Primordial Magic with Zoraida personally.

  4. Just wanted to say a big thank you from me and Sam to everyone for coming to the event, I hope you all enjoyed it and everyone got some decent swag.

Firstly, thank you everyone for your generosity on the day. By the time it's been gifted aided to the BHF we'll have donated a grand total of £272.50 which is awesome. This will be going on to Sam's JustGiving page in the next day or two. If you want to support him even more you can find him at: justgiving.com/samsbigbikeride

Secondly, let me thank our most generous sponsors:

    Bendyboards.co.uk

    The Malifools Podcast

    Element Games

    The Dice Bag Lady

    Counter Attack

    4Ground

    Commission Figurines

    Phil Muscroft bases

And also thanks to Dave for doing the excellent artwork pieces.

We had 23 players in the end so with 23 raffle prizes that all worked out pretty well.

Here are the final standings, which will be submitted to the rankings:

Congratulations for Connor (Gremlins), Greg (Outcasts) and Chris (Neverborn) for their podium finishes.

Best painted award went to Andy Figg, with second place going to James Doxey.

Most sporting player went to Nathan Chenery.

When I have time I can do a scheme breakdown as well. As you can see there was an impressive spread of leaders of the weekend, which is a hallmark of a well balanced system IMO.

Thanks again, I hope to see you at the next event :)

  5. Just six days to go now, I'm just putting together some of the final documents for the day.

Just a few things to make you aware of in advance:

-If a couple people could bring some terrain with them that would be great if it's not too much hassle.  I'm pretty sure we've got enough but we've moved things around alot at the club recently so some of the club terrain is still in storage.  I'd rather have some extra and not need it really.

-Food.  The Folk Hall cafe will be open selling breakfast and me and Sam will be taking orders during the first round.  Similarly for lunch, the cafe will be taking orders first thing (me and Sam will be sorting this for you and taking your order).  It'll be typical gamer grub, don't expect Heston Blumenthal.  If you don't want that, there's a corner shop just a couple of minutes walk away and a chippy next to it.  It'll be cash only naturally.  The cafe will be open serving cans of pop, tea (for James), chocolate bars and so on.

-We'll be delighted to receive any lose change or other donations to the BHF on the day, so bring your wallets ;)  Don't forget Dave the artist will be on hand to produce artwork of any miniature you want in return for a donation to the BHF.

The prize pool is looking very healthy indeed, there's a ton of stuff in there I'd love to have.

There's getting on for £400 in prizes when you roll in the trophies, the vouchers and the giant raffle pool.

We also have a couple of new sponsors:

4Ground, who have provided a nice discount voucher for the overall winner....

...and Commission Figurines who are providing us both one of their Walled Farm terrain pieces, and their church terrain piece.  You might remember these guys from a Kickstarter they did last year, and also I have one of their farm's which was in use at Vappa:

They make some really nice terrain, and they're preparing for a second Kickstarter soon which will include some Malifaux oriented terrain as well.  You can find them at http://www.commission-figurines.co.uk/.
