  1. Okay, got books in front of me again, too. I"m second guessing my original thought about Ryle vs. Insideous Madness. Please comment: Neverborn Whispers: Cb->Df "Models wounded by this weapon lose any immunities of bonuses involving Wp duels" Breach Psychosis: "This model is immune to other model's Talents and Spells that require it to make a Wp duel." My thought was - Hrm...according to Breach Psychosis, Ryle isn't immune to Wp duels...he's actually immune to certain Talents and Spells. It's maybe different from Immune to Influence which states immune to Wp duels... So Breach Psychosis isn't an "immune to Wp duels effect" of any sort...it's an "immune to Talent" and "immune to Spell" effect. So does the insideous madness's weapon still strip it? I guess it revolves on how you interpret "involve" in the Madness's weapon... Maybe I'm just looking for some more help vs. dreamer crews than I have available here...please comment.
  2. Okay, thanks Nix for the reply. As you might imagine, I'm planning to work more into this strategy...another question first though. If there is an insideous madness around that can shoot Ryle before the bomb hits (when the alps are placed around Ryle), will the madness's attack remove Breach Psychosis, thus making Ryle susceptible to the alp bomb's initial smother hit? Also - if a governor's proxy gets alp bombed, which alp will need to take the WP test when he dies from the wounds due to smother-feed on dreams? Thanks!
  3. I'm looking only at the case of Scraps where the Dreamer/LCB is the only master (so no Pandora). I would like to confirm how Ryle would work against the Alp Bomb. This is all theoryfaux. My understanding is that the damage from the Alp Bomb initially comes from Feed on Dreams. So the Alps arrive, and then you generally die as you activate. On to Ryle... Ryle activates - potentially in the middle of the bomb - and does not need to take the Smother test. He can't possibly fail a test he doesn't take. So he doesn't receive slow and take wounds like most other models do. Ryle next needs to make a hole, so he takes a melee action to kill an alp. Luckily, since his attack has critical strike and a ram trigger, he is guarenteed to do min 3 damage so long as he hits his target. Unfortunately, he takes 1 damage for each "nearby" alp due to Exhaustion. Interesting point...is this one of those "same effect name" sources, so he only takes 1 Wd? Or does he take say 5 if there are 5 alps all around him within 1" because they each do a damage? I'm guessing it's the latter and he takes 5 damage. Armor doesn't reduce this, becuase it's 5x1 damage hits. Ryle downs the alp and makes a small hole, then goes to move. He again takes 1 wound for each alp (4 now) from exhaustion. Ryle has now taken 9 of his 10 wounds. So long as he is out of melee range with this move he can use his ranged master ability and shoot at an alp. So long as it is moderate or more damage, this will kill an alp also. Do I have this right? The next level of complexity involves the Guardian being in Ryle's crew. If Ryle was under protection from the Guardian, the guardian could have chosen to take any number of wounds for Ryle at any time. This is due to each being actually a single 1 wound attack. Therefore for any of those 1 wounds, the guardian can take the wound for the protected model (Ryle). So it is possible in this scenario for the Guardian to have 3 wounds and Ryle to have only 6, not the full 9. Okay, that's complicated enough for now. Do I have this theoryfaux anywhere close to right? Thanks!
  4. Oh wait, so like I shoot, I MISS, convict tries to trigger "faster'n'you" to shoot me instead, but I cancel everything so that I don't get shot?
  5. I've been considering Ryle, but I'm a little confused. Can anyone help explain Ryle's trigger to me: "Cancel any activated triggers. No other triggers may be activated during this action." I'm just not sure what this is for? It seems to me like I choose this for Ryle - as his trigger - then he doesn't get to choose a trigger; but you only ever choose one trigger anyway...I'm lost! Help!!!
  6. Bother. This question has nothing to do with auras and everything to do with pulses. Sorry for any confusion the title may cause.
  7. Just wanted to check something that I'm a little confused on regarding Leveticus' constructs and the end of turn damage pulses they do (caustic aura, etc) From the rulebook/errata/v2 cards the following seems to be true to me: The damage pulse from Steampunk Abominations affects "enemy models" The damage pulse from Desolation Engines affects "living models" Damage pulses generated from Ashes and Dust (both the spell and the upgrade) make steampunk abominations and desolation engines affect "living models" - albeit with larger range and/or higher target numbers. I guess my confusion is in why the steampunk abominations don't affect "living models" like all the rest do. They say they affect "enemy models". Am I reading this right? I can foresee some tactical decisions to make regarding abomination use and placement... Thanks for the help ahead of time! -Turbodog
  8. Thanks all for your insight. It does make me wonder how Leveticus plans to succeed with his small business venture of Captivating Logistics and Salvage if there's only three potential clients that could ever hire him. I think he needs to broaden his client base if he ever hopes to make any progress... :] Oh well. And everyone was super helpful and easy to interpret. Thanks for such a nice forum you run here!
  9. I like Leveticus. I like Von Schill. I was wondering if there is any possibility of these two working together - or if I should just end that dream now. For what I can tell, one argument is that Leveticus can't hire Von Schill at all because he's not soulless/construct/undead On the other hand, Von Schill has the mercenary characteristic..so could Leveticus hire him as a mercenary (and pay additional SS cost?) On a related note, can other crews hire Leveticus as a mercenary (and pay additional SS cost) even if they contain models that aren't soulless/construct/undead. If not, I really need help understanding why Leveticus has the mercenary tag... What is it used for? Thanks for the help! This seems like a really fun game. I'm just getting into it. I just need some help navigating some of the trickier points.
