  1. The one that's most insulting to the Skorne.
  2. I do understand this, I was just looking for funny stories...
  3. Have you ever played in a wargame of any sort where something happens in game that, given the bigger picture, either makes no sense at all or just completely destroys the background fluff...? Here are a couple of examples: A pal of mine when he worked for GamesWorkshop saw a guy playing a small, low-point, skirmish game using Eldar. Thing is he managed to work a Seer Council into it. My pal thought about this for a moment... it was actually ridiculous! "I mean, the scenario here is Rescue," he said, "what does he think they're doing? 'Oh no, look! A Guardian's in trouble! Quick, send the entire command structure of the whole Craftworld down to save him!'...?" Another was when I was playing Warmahordes. I had Trolls to use against my opponent's Skorne. In the end I killed his Warlock by charging him with a Dire Troll, who proceeded to eat him. Now, if this was a campaign, what now...? If he got knocked down to 0 health then it could be ruled he was just really badly injured, but not killed. But my Dire Troll ate him, digested him, and used his mass to regenerate D3 hitpoints That's one Skorne Warlock gone for good! Anyone else had anything mad happen?
  4. I also stock some of the stuff in the link in my Sig, and thanks to some board members here I've assembled a deal where you got the rules manual, a crew, and a free totem to augment them. As for which crew you'd like, apart from GW do you play any other games? Is there a particular style of play you prefer? For example, in Warmachine I play Cryx and for Malifaux I went with Rasputina since she can channel spells through her cold-hearted units which is kinda similar to my Cryx arc nodes, so it's a style of play I feel I can work with.
  5. Well, in the offer I also have Pandora, Lilith, Ramos, Seamus and Sonia Creed crews for more magical offerings, depending on what style of magic you'd like...
  6. If you do want the Viktorias maybe I could tempt you with an offer of them, plus manual, and a free totem...?
  7. Yeah, because I only have 6 right now I'm going to wait till I go round the clubs here to offer it to them and see who wants in on it. Avoids all the paypal fees As for working out postage, the site hosting system is the problem there... To get international options I have to upgrade the site, and that'll cost me a bit of money up front to do. I will do it at some point once I make more money though!
  8. Thanks! While i'm at it i may as well ask; anyone want one...?
  9. With thanks to those board members who made the suggestions for my plan to make an intro offer the punters (hopefully) can't refuse, I now have the stuff for 6 Intro Deals for Malifaux. Or "Try a new faction!" deals, depending on what folk want. I have one each of Pandora, Viktorias, Seamus, Ramos, Lilith, Sonia Creed boxes plus their Totems (Student of Conflict/Malifaux Child for the Viktorias) and compiled the following poster: I haven't added any prices here, 'cause I'm not sure if that would be bad form or not, but this is what I have thus far!
  10. There's an idea one of the guys at my club has been using; I gave him a set of GF9 War Claws for Hordes and he's been using them for any game that requires an effect, even Magic: the Gathering. They're just generic tokens with a blank key so you can write what they all mean. No reason why they shouldn't work for Malifaux...
  11. Ok, I got a bunch of stuff in today; not the full set I wanted but as much as I could get anyway! I can do these deals for a good number of th crews! As soon as I split the stuff up into its relevant groups i'll post an inventory of what there is and what I can get away with price-wise!
  12. Well, maybe I could help out in some way... Not with the gaming group unfortunately; I'm in Scotland, but I am also a wargames retailer just about to formulate some deals on Malifaux after some helpful suggestions from this here board.
  13. I was wondering this myself, glad it's been clarified. Hate to think the rulebooks on the shelf right now are obsolete in terms of rules And anyway, jamat, thanks to some discussion with the folks here on the board I'm putting on some special offers of my own: rules manual+crew box+totem. If you're interested just send a message, let me know which crew you're interested in, and i'll tell you how good an offer I can do!
  14. Hmm, then maybe i'd just list what you get in the bundle, how much that costs, and then how much you therefore save.
  15. Ok then, book+crew+totem for beginners it is! Is just crew+totem enough on an incentive for folk wanting to try out additional crews? Oh yeah,@ChuckleMonkey, I'm based in Wishaw but do most of my business in East Kilbride; that's where the real action is.
  16. Looks like I could have 2 separate deals: one for "New to the game? Pick a faction and get all this stuff!" And another for "Fancy a new crew? Get one with a totem for less!" Could call them Malifaux Faction Action and New Crew respectively
  17. With that in mind, if I sold a manual and crew box together, I may just be able to throw in a totem for free... I'll check that one out. It might cut into my profits a wee bit, but it's a good start for the customer!
  18. You certainly have given me a lot to think about, thanks! It's going to be money off pretty much, in the form of a bundle deal ie. "Buy The Gremlins box plus gremlins blister which you can summon, saving x amount!". At the moment most of my sales are online. In the real world i'm having to take it very slowly; there are only a couple of Malifaux players locally as GW has a really tight grip here, so a lot of folks are very wary of trying anything else. Main problem is that no single person wants to try out a different game; they're all waiting for their pals to buy it too so they have folk to play against. Nothing's going to be reboxed, just items wrapped up together so i'm well open to suggestion as to what works with what. And my prices are as competitive as hell As for play areas, right now I don't really need them; the target market round here have access to some pretty damn good wargaming facilities set up by one of my former co-workers from GamesWorkshop who founded a large wargaming club which is funded by the local council, and all my customers go there to play. I do all my demo games there to maximise the audience. It's starting to sound like totems would be the better idea; less complications that way. And yeah, my mistake mixing up the mannequins with coryphee
  19. Ok, that's good, thanks! I was just intending on concentrating on the stuff you need to represent the abilities they have, so I suppose The Ortegas may miss out a bit on the deal (that's one of the reasons i'll be using them for intro games; works perfectly out the box ) So I suppose i could add a couple of extras as an incentive, like the Bound Nephilim. But since that is a unit you'd have to pay for with soulstones, would that give them an unfair advantage points-wise, as far as the deal goes?
  20. I have a warmahordes one, and while the spacing is generally pretty good, I found the foam itself to be a bit abrasive... A lot of edges were suddenly being stripped down to the bare metal. Anyone else find that?
  21. Just thought i'd do some market research here, straight from the source of Malifaux. I am a purveyor of games, and Malifaux is one of the things I stock. Now, this whole business venture is off a pile of money I had been saving for a long time and thought it'd be a good time to put it to some good use. I don't have any loans and don't owe anyone anything, but as a result I don't stock absolutely everything.... yet. So what I want to do is something a bit different. A point I raised a while ago in the tournament thread was about tournaments based off Crew boxes; not all the abilities can be represented by the stuff you get in the box. So I was wondering, what if I sold the crew boxes, but with all the peripherals you'd need to make it work. So you'd get the box, plus the models needed to represent their abilities. With Som'er Teeth Jones you'd get a bunch of Gremlins so he could cast "Git yer brother!" without using proxies. Colette would come with her Mechanical Dove and a Coryphee for the Mannequins. etc etc So, if I had such things on a special deal, so you get a complete set to start with and no need for proxies/counters to represent stuff, would that be a cool deal? What do yous think? Would anyone go for that, or do they just want the basic Crew box?
  22. Oh my god... I hadn't actually heard the cover since 2003 and listening to it again it's even worse than I remember. The way they sing it reminds me of Alan Partridge when he was talking to a couple of Irish guys and he thought U2's Bloody Sunday was just about how annoying sundays can be.
  23. If the OP didn't link to YouTube I would never believe it, and I wouldn't even search for it, such is my disbelief that such a cover could exist. One i didn't like was Panic at the Disco covering Radiohead's Karma Police. They had to add some extra swearing to show how edgy they are.. Another was All Saints covering Under the Bridge. It was just... soulless. They didn't add anything to it at all, just removed all feeling from it and I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't actually know what the song was about. Just a shameless cash-in. I'm still waiting for Marilyn Manson to cover Heart of Glass though!
  24. Last game I played was teaching a Warhammer player how to play warmachine- he'd recently taken the plunge and bought a Cryx box from me. Showed him just how different it was! It was Menoth vs Cryx, and started out looking really bad for the Cryx as my Warjacks smashed his to bits, but with a bit of coaching, Denny cast her feat, charged into Kreoss and punched two big holes through him.
  25. I've got Firestorm but haven't played it. You really get you money's worth with the ships, that's for sure! The system also has you roll a lot of dice, I love that in a game of this type! Really gives a good impression of the firepower involved. I dunno why this is, but my wife likes the look of Malifaux too, might even give her a game once I get my intro game crews painted up. She really liked the look of the Showgirls anyway.
