Very, very nice as usual. Nothing I can really add, you are already a pro-painter and all
-
The creepy tree is looking very nice. I used apoxie sculpt over wire/coathanger frame for mine. I'll try to post some pics on my mini thread. They look amazingly similar to yours
-
That looks quite a bit better IMO. I think you got rid of the chunkyness I was talking about. I like him a lot better now

Lovely sculpts on these. I can't wait to see your progress on them. This is a box I still have not ordered. I will hopefully be able to get them after all the mess with surgery etc. I very happy with the way these minis look. Thanks for posting them unpainted so I could check them out

Perfectly disturbing! Loving this project.

Your minis look great, especially the guild minis.
The only critique that I would make: The Ice Golem looks like the white is a little too heavy or... blocky? (searching for the right word). Maybe it just looks like the whites lines are a little too thick? Hard for me to say because I am so horrible with white. The Golem looks good mind you.. but I think you can make it look better, because your other minis are a step ahead of it in my little unskilled opinion.
Keep the pics coming!

That mini is too cute. I just visited your website and .. wow! Wonderful mini painting!
It seems like everyone I see on this site can just paint and/or sculpt wonderfully! All of you make me wish I were as skilled.

The way you captured the form of that little doggie is pure genius! Hats off to you and your sculpting skills. I'll be watching you for hints and tips

Fantastic work!

It is very funny. Pandora is my first and Colette is my wife's first... so we are gonna have a heck of a time fighting each other .. lol
And.. Welcome Cyberakuma!

Thanks everyone!
@kbdrand I use alumilite products. http://www.alumilite.com/index.cfm
I use standard casting resin from them (tan) and I usually use quick set RTV for the rubber molds, but this time the store was out and I used High Strength 3 rubber and that seemed to work very nicely.
The one thing that sold me on Alumilite was the customer service. I once bought a starter kit from a local store (Hobby Lobby) and apparently it had been on the shelf 2 years, which made it usless. I did not know this until after I tried it. I was a little upset and just sent them an email about the condition of the product and they replaced it for free and sent it to my home. I had the box for 1 month before I had opened it for use and I had lost the receipt.
Alumilite is very helpful via email and really sold me on the product and support due to fixing a problem with such ease. I talked to the local store management and told them that Alumilite products have a shelf life of no more than 12 months according to the online rep. and the local store immediately ordered new items so that I could buy more and removed all current stock.
Anyways.. there are many mold making companies out there, but Alumilite was helpful and good natured about everything. Good people!

Absolutely! You should always push yourself a little. I just seem to fail miserably with whites... especially blending into something else. I would love it if you post a nice recipe of the final mixtures of white and how you used them.

Been watching this thread the entire time and figured the Wyrd crew were celebrating Thanksgiving and visiting family etc. as much as possible and that sort of thing. They are just a small group of people after all and not some giant evil conglomerate. Now I see that this was the case and I feel happy that info was only delayed because of that.

Ok... good news and bad news.
Good News: I have made molds for my own bases and they came out great.
I have had to run a pin up the middle of the Sorrows. The metal was bent and when bent back to chape, it seemed quite flimsy. I cannot bear the thought of a mini snapping in half after painting it etc.... so I pinned them and then GSed over the pins. Now they are darn tough.
I also have been working on some tidbits like dolls and children's blocks and a little hobby horse for the bases.
Bad news:
I am going to try to get as much as I can done in the next few days, but on December 9th, I go into surgery for a rather complicated Cancer removal that may leave me on the uncomfortable side of dead or possibly maimed to a degree or whatnot. I have had a simpler surgery for cancer 2.5 years ago where they cut out some redundant organs (a kidney and such) so I am no stranger to the pain/treatments etc etc, but it wasn't this dangerous last time around . No worries though! I have the strength of twenty men even on a bad day.
Sooooo... anyways, wish me luck! If I make it, I will certainly produce some disturbing miniature ideas while in my post surgery drug haze (There is an upside to everything! Am I right?)
Needless to say this will in one way or another delay further updates after the 9th
All in all I think my mental image of the way these Neverborn should be represented is really coming together. I am also slightly converting Pandora to have longer hair (which will be a dirty blonde/light brown) and I have the idea that tentacles should come from the box instead of the standard glowy/fire-ish image. I am almost done with the Greenstuff work on her.

Thanks. I'll be watching

Looking good so far. I checked out your blog and I have been having second thoughts about using white for the woes. I may have blues blend into the green instead. White has always been difficult to paint in my experience.
-
All of your work is very inspiring! I like that you have set you goals on getting the things painted. That is something I must do....

Basically, I am looking for the Limited Edition Models that I have missed due to just discovering Malifaux. I especially would like the Limited Edition Lord Chompy Bits and Gremlinette would be very nice to have also.
I have too much stuff to list. I have almost any GW Chaos model produced since the Rogue Trader era (1985-ish) untill the current line. I can trade a large quantity of current or recent sprues in addition to some collectors item 40k and fantasy models. I have an unopened boxed set of Blood Bowl etc etc.
Basically I have been a GW junkie for a long time (esp. Chaos) if you have any wants just PM me and you already know what I would like
I can also provide proof of my employment to help you understand that I cannot in any way rip you off without severe reprecussions in my life. i.e. loss of career etc.
Take care!

Very nice post tourney write-up. I read it and learned a few more things about neverborn that I will try when I start getting games.
Thanks!
btw.. I like the usual purple italic type

Well, I have not painted a mini yet, but I have some cleaned up and prepped to go forward. In the meantime, I was working on my basing ideas for the Neverborn and here are some shoddy pics.
The idea is the checkerboard tiles that have been broken through and the seething chaos underneath is revealed. I will add various other thing to indiviualize the bases after I cast them. The things I will add, will be tentacles, dolls, playing blocks for children and other toys etc. of course there will be blood spatter on the tiles too when painted
-
Ok.. I am home! Here is a pick of some of the test bases that I will cast + one that I already cast (the tan-ish one is cast from my molds). They need a little cleaning up, but you can see the tiles and broken areas with the swirling mass of chaosy stuff under the floor. I had to fill in under the tiles due to using just one part simple molds. They should come out OK anyways...
I will also add various little details to the cast bases for each individual model as is necessary: toy blocks for children to play with, more tiles, dolls, tentacles coming from the chaosy stuff and reaching up onto the floor etc.
Let me know what you think and I hope this gives the OP more ideas
The black and white checkerboard idea is just very fitting to Neverborn!
-
Ooze has the idea. The black and white checker is just right for the dreamland/Neverborn feel in my opinion.
I have some bases I just finished making last night . They are tiled to appear as the good ole black and white checker look (but any two colors could work) and I have some of them broken open to show oozes and slime underneath the tiles. Kinda a mix of swamp bases and inside tile bases. I'll try to post some pics tonight when i get home. I plan on making molds for them over this holiday.
