  1. Book two has never been out of print. If you can't get it, holler at your distributor - if he says he doesn't have it, holler at me and I'll politely inform them otherwise.

Book one, keep an eye open in the future.

I have shared some of the issues the OP brought up. We just try to share what we have, like our only book 1, and photocopies of the fluff sections of it etc.

Nice quick and decisive reply thought Nathan, and though I can't say I'm surprised you guys are working on it, it's still good to hear. I think the supposed RPG could have a huge positive effect for circulating the fluff in particular, as well as re-releasing the old material in omnibus-ish forms. Though I'm sure you guys have thought of this much more heh.

  2. Well, I think calmdown does a decent job with what's available.

However, I think we should be very careful. Meta is more solid the more major tourneys that occur and we're not really there yet. We also have to contend with nonstandard balancing concepts what with the pre game crew picking and all that. It's difficult to draw much from matching masters linearly against each other as to their general advantages when I get the impression things are at least supposed to be more like "pick-->counterpick" etc.

  3. 3 hours later and I'm done. Great episode guys! I especially liked how you gave fair, full descriptions of the advanced masters. A lot of overall guides of factions written out or on casts, since they are directed at new players , always gloss over say Hamelin and Levi because "you don't want to start them first". It's a fair point, but just because they're advanced doesn't mean that they're not a great part of the game's content to explore. If you give the warning disclaimer and explain why it's there, then some players who are up to the challenge can feel more confident about going for one of them first anyway, which adds to the diversity of their local play group.

Great call on doing henchmen next by the way. What with Schill at least, it's not like newbies need to avoid that category entirely either. Make sure you talk about how Molly is the best and how everyone should play her.

  4. Decent tactica, now that I've listened. What are people's opinions on nephilim-light lilith lists, if they exist? Maybe with Lelu/Lilitu but avoiding the tots/nephilim. I was hoping more for teddy and maybe other woes but don't like the old nephilim models ( I just like lilith's alternate!). I know they touched on this subject a bit on the end, but does anyone else have experience?

Also, man, the tone is always so negative when it comes to sacrificing cheap models for counters. Come on guys, all success requires sacrifice, but why should it be yours?

  5. Welcome to Malifaux! The Guild is a very good choice, if I do say so myself. In all honesty, they are easy to learn, and a good jumping off point. BUt you should pick models that interest you.

psh, two centimeters??? We have to get two FEET of snow before they'll shut Maine down.... *shakes head* although, in the South and West it doesn't take very much to grind everything to a stand still... And it's pretty cold here... it's 18 degrees Fahrenheit here right now... before you factor in Windchill...

Anywho, back on topic: Welcome to the forums Averlorn!! If you have questions, feel free to ask. Only a few of us bite (mind the bear) and the Gremlins smell funny... but they have some good ideas ;)

Btw, some of us live in canada, just saying.

    Also, welcome to Averlorn!

  6. Honestly Native Americans might fall into the no religion directive. Its to easy to offend someone.

Agreed, if they did soemthing like this it would have to be non explicit, ie, joss becomes a henchmen and bring "hunter" friends who may or may not be inspired by native American imagery. Like kirai' s crew, and, with time, the ten thunders stuff.

  7. Hadnt noticed the book says (1). I expect that it's a typo, because Shrug Off has always been a (0) on all Guild models and I don't see why it would change; I'd expect to see that fixed on his card.

I've played Molly not extensively but a fair bit now and she's been mostly relegated to my shelf. She just doesn't perform like it looks like she should, because she's a suit dependant support model in a faction of suit dependant models and support models. The final nail in her coffin was losing the ability to kill leaders with Philosophy of Uncertainty (on her card), which was previously a pretty big board threat and the main reason to run her.

Ok, well I guess it would be useful if anyone has the new sue card to see if it's (1) for some devious reason, but you can see now how I saw the setup that way haha.

I was just thinking about what you had said before I posted the thread, about how she got that cuddle between book and card, and yeah, it's tough with Molly. That's why I want to try to make her work as well of course.

  8. Been doing lots of gamey meta-guy lameness in my head in efforts to make molly work well and here's one of the things I came up with:

    Ressurectionists Crew - 25 - Scrap

    Seamus, The Mad-Hatter -- 5 Pool

    Molly Squidpiddge [9ss]

    Nurse [5ss]

    Sue [8ss]

At bigger sizes, just add belles if in doubt.

Features that only took me 5 mins to see, probably way more:

    - Double activations for both sue and molly every turn they and the nurse are still around

    - +2 WP in opposed duels from sue and *-2* WP for all enemy living models. Besides just super powerful terror-bombing, molly still has the twisted mind trigger to make this feel more like a 'dora crew

-Incredibly hard to kill with seamus's vamp abilities, molly's defensive buffs/triggers, and nurse's (0) passives, drug buffs and the full heal (2) spell.

    - Very fast due to bell synergy, or at least can easily get scary fast elements in a hurry if needed.

-Tons of passive damage to attackers from necrotic spray and ring of fire

So, am I mis-reading any rules/abilities, or what? Has anyone tried something similar or do I need to get some serious play testing going ? I'd love to have a good discussion on all the potentials, anyway, as I don't get to play nearly as much as I'd like to.

  9. I really, really, really want to try infinity.

No interest around here though, and just having started warmachine new games are on the back burner.

But be sure to do an in-depth review so I can live vicariously.

Infinity was the first game/line that I actually just bought purely because the models were just that good, and I pretty much research every TT system out there, so it was pretty special. I also LOVE the rules design and really wish it would catch on, so it can progress and become smoother as the production values and experience of the devs increase.
