Got McMourning/Somer and just picked up Perdita.

I've been looking at Hoffman as a Master and the most interesting part of him for me was Assimilate. You could do so many things! I was thinking you could keep a Spider Swarm near by and get the plus one to your damage flips! That'd be insane! What do you guys think would be good targets for Assimilate?

Now that you mention it, out of all the small demos I've run I can never remember Marcus winning ...

Would you guys say that the Student is pretty much mandatory then? And if I had to pick between a Librarian or a few basic Troopers, which should I go for?

The Gremlin gunline is definitely the way to go. When you add pigs, the warband has competing objectives in terms of play style. The pigs want to rush into combat but the Gremlins want to stand back and shoot. And then neither gets accomplished. Mind you, its highly likely I haven't gotten the hang of Somer. As much as I liked the guy, I still think planning a warband around having your guys die is a daft idea. If you're going down the gunline route, I can't vouch for Opheila enough. She negates the gang's biggest weakness (Whoops) and gives you 6 more soulstones onto your crew. As for buys with Somer, I'd say a Mossie (flying then using Pull my Finger is glorious) or Pere/Rami to deal with hard stuff. And more Gremlins naturally.

Goodness! OF course! I never thought of printing off several sheets to give out! Genius! Infact, I think the store might have Rasputina lying around somewhere.

My local gaming store is having an open day of sorts at the end of the month and I've been asked to run a Malifaux demo table. Aside from printing from the FAQs, what else would you guys recommend? Any tips or advice would be so helpful! The crews I have on hand are Somer, Ophiela, McMourning, Sonnia and Marcus. Which two would be best for demos?

I'd drop a basic trooper right away to fit in the Student but the gang has a serious lack of numbers. That might just be the Gremlin player side of me talking.

Anyone good with forum technology here? I have a signature all done and loaded up but I can't view it on my posts. Any idea why this is?

I find my choice of zero actions with Opheila depends on what I want to do with her other Kin. I'll chuck Like Herding Squirrels out from time to time but as good as it is at buffing Gremlins, I don't find myself using it as much as I should. The Kin I normally run in a 25SS gang is Pere and Rami, the latter being a must. Her first zero action of the game will normally be putting Dumb and Lucky onto Rami. Keeping a Slop Hauler near to him is important to heal up the wounds caused by Dumb Luck recoil. Her next zero action would be either It's a Girl to drag Pere up into position or Family Tree to allow the Slop Hauler to activate quickly. Depends on how urgent healing Rami is really. A personal favourite of mine is the Explosive Pere Slingshot. Have the two near to each other so Pere can activate after Ophiela. Put Dumb and Lucky onto him, move Ophiela up once and drag Pere along with It's a Girl. Walk Pere into a nice clump of foes and boom! To make it really worth it, you need high cards in your hand for the attack/damage flips of the explosion but its a method to take out big nasties or Masters which the gang struggles with.

With his box set coming out, I've been eying up Von Schill. All of the troops seem pretty solid so I'm having some trouble deciding which to take. For a 25SS crew, does this sound any good? Von Schill Two Friekorpsmenn 8SS Librarian 7SS Specialist 5SS Trapper 6SS Total: 26SS (Cache of three SS) I thought taking one of each of the non basic troopers would make the squad pretty solid and diverse. However, after reading this thread I'm really tempted by sticking a Student in!

Hi! Malifaux has just taken off in my local store, so the Gremlins that have been sitting around for a year now have a chance to come out! I've run a few demo games getting people into this wonderful system. Oh, and I play McMourning, Somer, Ophiela and I'm probs going to be picking up Von Schill.
