1. As a gamer, I tend to view the passage of time in Cons.

So, 2 GenCon's ago Army Painter had a moderately sized booth, and I fell in love with product.

For those of you not in the know, they are the fastest way in the world to toss out a very solid table top ready ARMY. They are not ideal in all respects for the level of paint jobs that we see posted regularly in the showcase forum. They are geared to the mass armies of Warhammer and the ilk.

Basically you prime using their amazing primers, toss on a few base coats, use their polyethylene/polyuethane based "dip", and the spray the models with anti shine and they are ready for war.

The products end up very durable and at table top range they are pretty nice.

Here's a snippet of their current new primer "Crystal Blue"

I've used their brushes, drill sets, and just about anything else that happened to wind up at our LGS.

The 2 best products they have hands down are their primers and the cutters.

    Primer:

It lasts forever! I primed 444 Zombies from the Vampire Counts line of Warhammer Fantasy the Halloween before last on just 2 cans of primer. It goes on smooth and is the FASTEST drying primer I have ever used. I've painted on it in as little as 7 mins with no bleeding or transfer of color.

    Cutters:

These things are amazing! Normally one of two things happens to the snips I buy. 1) The Spring that keeps them open stops work or breaks, or 2) The tips bend when I get a little too aggressive with a cut on a modification.

I've had my snips for a little over a year and neither has happened. High quality stuff...

  2. I used to spend HOURS filing mini's for mod work, then I got a Dremel for Christmas a few years ago and I LURVE IT.

Filing down the boot might be the only way, unless you have some left over bits from other models that you could use. That one requires a little amputation though...

  3. On both the Orange and the Purple I used Squid Pink on the gums, jack bone from P3 on the teeth, then washed.

Orange got a number of layers of Gryphone Sepia, then I used touches of the burnt orange and yellows to highlight.

Purple got washes (heavy) of the Badab Black, her highlights will be cold grey and white...

Likely won't finish her until tomorrow...

Oh! And between the first layer of wash and the second on both I used a layer of the Baal Red just on the gums and the base of the teeth. The best part about the GW washes is they dry waterproof, so you layer them on top of each for some depth.

  4. What recipe did you use for gums and teeth?

On both the Orange and the Purple I used Squid Pink on the gums, jack bone from P3 on the teeth, then washed.

  5. During Lunch at work today...

Base coats in bubble gum and cotton candy...

Secondary layers plus a white heart shape, it's easier to do this than to try to line the hearts in the next step...

Then the final over heart design in opposing colors...

After this I washed it in Badab Black (just the tummy) and then colored the eyes with the left over pink and blue. I don't like the eyes so I will be redoing those tonight...

  6. One thing Hazzard, looking at the Cherub it looks like there are still some pretty good sized mold lines on his arms. It may just be a lighting/shadow thing, but if your models are smooth it helps the paints and washes be a little more even. I have a hard time with getting all the small ones some times and I never see them until after I've started base coating and especially after I start washes... they are SNEAKY!

  7. I love the model. I have one to paint on my workstation, but have not found a reason for it... I love Sweeney Todd.

    Also, bete noire

, bête noire If you refer to someone or something as your bete noire, you mean that you have a particular dislike for them or that they annoy you a great deal.

So I think the girl to boy thing is AOKay!

  8. NOpe there isnt a model for the potions. Its just on the card. The only other model that is there besides the heros and bad guys is the pylon ( just a crystal looking thingy) i didnt get one of those cause i opted for the treasure chest.

I know that Soda Pop , when contacted by our LGS, stated that one or the other of the Chest/Crystal, would be available for purchase, and the other was only going to be available at events and demos.

I believe they said the crystal was the demo/event only piece. Don't hold my feet to the fire on which it was...
