  1. Lord Chompy Bits... what good are ten inch claws if they aren't gonna tear something up.

This is just the test positioning, more a proof of concept than anything. I am going to have him leaping from something victorian behind him, I've cut away a good portion of the cloth that was the loincloth, and freed his legs, which I need to do a little green stuff work on tonight after I pin him to the base, or at least drill the holes...

  2. I'm liking it so far.. I so hope you are going to be going for a bluish scheme lit up by yellow flames as they will look so sweet with directional lighting.

There will be surprises on these. It's hard to explain but I am HUGE on actual lighting. I will get pics of a Warhammer Giant I'm working on tonight and set them up. He's kinda of been my experiment piece for all these, and I've finally figured out how to black light reactive paints in a way that they do not show unless they are in the light. Pics tonight on the Giant WIP.

Blue/Greens and Yellow/Oranges are the intention, but you know how it works... I won't know for sure until I pick up the brush on the first model... and before I do that I have to get creative with the 3 other models in the box...

Coppelius is stumping me... but I'm playing around with him today...

  3. Here is stitched #2, what I plan on doing is have his lantern lighting him very eerily and the wall, which will have some propaganda like posters overlaid with some Neverborn graffiti.

I wanted him to have the impression that he was holding the lantern very still so that some unsuspecting passerby would be lured in... kind of like one of these...

  4. I want a "Gremlins" (a la the 80's movie not the bayou gobliny ones) feel for the army, so I have a few little surprises setup... one may or may not involve a mini pop corn machine I found... ;)

As far as the dangling arm: This was just a Fit shot to make sure he fits. I've already altered the leg and the hand to make it work a bit better.

  5. I am not a completionist. I never seem to really get around to finishing anything, unless... I start posting it.

So here are the first shots of my Bad Dreams box set.

I'm starting with the stitched togethers, and trying to make all the bases as dynamic as I can.

Here is a "fit" shot that I took so I can see where the model will sit on the emergency telephone box.

More to follow over the next few weeks...

  6. I havn't used the actual slot in a slotta base in forever!

And I've found that pennies are not weighty enough with metal minis. A nickel is the right size and the weight is substantial enough to help balance...

However, in case the US Mint is monitoring this. I do not condone the defacing of Legally Issued tender in any way... ;)

  7. Just my two pfennig...

I am more comfortable working in polymer clay with these tiny things, than in green stuff or miliput. It has far less adhesion, and there is a little more resistance in the material for doing a lot of small detail work...

Also it's cheaper and faster. For the 12 dollars it costs for green stuff I can get 12 blocks of poly clay. In 20 minutes you can have the sculpt made, in 20 more it can be baked, 1 minute to run it under cold water, prime it , and then it's ready to be painted. We all know how long it takes Miliput and GS to cure... ugh...

  8. So if you tell your computer where everything is going and it calculates things do you actually need to move the mini at all? Or even have the mini? Is it not just like an RTS game then?

    Most common question.

You can play it without the minis. But in order to have the mini to play with in the game you need the code on the inside of the box.

The game itself isn't "designed" to pull in hard core Dice and Card board warriors, but it bridges the gap between the video gamer set and the mini gamer set.

As far as the leveling up causing balance issues: Not so far as I've seen. None of the abilities or powers you gain are really overpowering or cause too many issues.

Example: At level 1 I can make Marienna cast a heal spell that heals my team over time, at level 2 I get a single target heal that I can cast on only one character. Nothing crazy out of balance.

It's not going to be for everyone, but few games are... except Malifaux... which everyone should play... or be put to the stake

  9. Hi guys,

While not Malifaux related I have fallen in love with 30mm lipped bases and I want to do up my 40k Thousand Sons on lipped bases. I don't play any more but would like to do them all purely for aesthetic reasons.

I am looking for alien temple or ruined scnery style bases if anyone can point me in the right direction.

    D.

    How about these?

  10. Wow, the madness continues! Friendship bear looks a bit like a barbaloot playing among the truffula trees in his brown barbaloot suit. If intentional, you have my undying respect and admiration. If unintentional, you're still brilliant!

All relation to Suess' Lorax Loots are unintentional... but the trees do look it... LOL

Yeah... that's what I said when I saw that model too...

At Gencon we bought 2 starters of Ex-illis and a few other goodies, and it has been a hit at both the LGS and at home.

We don't play very many games together at home due to one fact: We are COMPETITIVE!

If there is a rule involved we always end up in an argument over the rule, because that rule probably won one of us the game and lost it for the other. A lose lose that sometimes leaves me warming the couch...

Ex-illis cures all those problems by simply making the rules immutable. They are hard programmed into the software they provide you. You tell it where you want to be, and what you want to do and BLAM! it calculates everything. Hits, defenses, special attack increases, etc.

The models are beautiful (not as cool as Wyrd mini's). The story in the background combines history and a liberal dose of fiction to make things very engaging. You can pick up the game, put the models together and be playing in as little as 3 minutes.

Each game you play add experience to your mini and you can use those experience points to level up your model, giving them boosts in power and new abilities.

On top of that the game has a badge and rewards system in place, so you can get virtual loot (and in some case REAL loot) to add to your stuff...

    Check it out... http://www.ex-illis.com/
