  1. So here is the first go at the combined Dreamer base... There are two painting options that I'm looking at and will decide tonight. Either prime black and highlight up in a deep purple for the black, or wash it very heavily multiple times in a true black ink...

I'm going to try to tackle the brick wall after lunch...

  2. Dreamer Base pieces...

Soooo, after reading Koali's post earlier about the darkness effect I've gotten started on a change up for the dreamer's base...

Going with an Ooze flowing upward effect, a la Fable III Darkness.

    Here are the first steps.

  3. I love the hirst arts sets. Are you using Smooth on too? If so are you using a mold release and baby powder or are you casting them from the mold directly?

Loving the buildings! One thing you may want to look at, instead of using a straw for the piping, cheapo plastic tubing sometimes works better. I have had fits with painting straws even when I mix a light adhesive in with the paint (like Elmer's glue).

  4. I've considered sawing off his arms and legs and building my own, but haven't given it a try yet.

I tried it... it ended in tears, some of my own blood, and a teddy in my bits box... The sculpt is great for adding to, but reposing is neigh on impossible...

As far as the bases, I've been working on my crew too, and it's very hard to come up with true nightmarish bases. You could try doing the standard "Black Ooze" that is pretty common for "darkness" though I've never seen it on a base before...

  5. FINALLY! Coppelius is sorted out.

I ended up cutting off his legs, and arms and repositioning everything. I still have a smidge of greenstuff work to do on him, but by and large his pose came out very well.

I based him as if he were adding to, and protecting, his precious collection of eyes. They are in all different sizes, as I thought he would collect them from anything he could. So there are some killjoy sized ones, all the way down to some Dreamer sized ones...

    C/C always welcome...

  6. I've got the Dreamer all figured out. I am using the sculpt from the Nightmare Version and little floating technique that will hopefully make him look a little ethereal/otherworldly.

I'm still stumped on what to do with Coppelius. I know that he was a "sandman" type figure in Teutonic myth, but I'm not sure how I can really alter him to make him "different". The others are all about movement, stillness and poise. But I can't think of a way to magnify it on the sculpt even with modifications. I'm sure something will hit me tonight as I work through it. I really want to get these guys primed, but I'm not going to until all are set and ready...

  7. They look really good until I loaded the punch into the cart and they want $35 dollars for a $25 product to ship to the UK. That in itself is almost as bad as the $10 toploaders that cost $84 shipping lol

I bought my punch at Walmart for like $6, any craft store will carry the plain circular punch... As far as international shipping goes, it's a bugger.

It's almost always cheaper to have someone local ship it to you than it is for a company to do it. FedEx international shipping for a 2 lb package from the US to London EC4 s about 71 bucks, so the shipping isn't too far off... for UPS it's 85.

  8. Alea Tools and a round paper punch are perfect for this, and they are magnetic so they will "stick" to the bottom of your mini.

I've used Ratty's template and just paper punched them and put them on the top of the tokens and viola!
